"A lightsome, brightsome comedy." -Kirkus Reviews "Nimble, light-hearted chronicle of high London society in the time of the Regency." -The New Yorker Celebrate the 80th birthday of Regency Romance with great books from Sourcebooks Casablanca! Georgette Heyer's sparkling romances have charmed and delighted millions of readers. Her characters brilliantly illuminate one of the most exciting and fascinating eras of English history-when drawing rooms sparkled with well-dressed nobility and romantic intrigues ruled the day. Heyer's heroines are smart and independent; her heroes are dashing noblemen who know how to handle a horse, fight a duel, or address a lady. And her sense of humor is legendary. When the incomparable Miss Milbourne spurns the impetuous Lord Sherington's marriage proposal (she laughs at him-laughs!) he vows to marry the next female he encounters, who happens to be the young, penniless Miss Hero Wantage, who has adored him all her life. Whisking her off to London, Sherry discovers there is no end to the scrapes his young, green bride can get into, and she discovers the excitement and glamorous social scene of the ton. Not until a deep misunderstanding erupts and Sherry almost loses his bride, does he plumb the depths of his own heart, and surprises himself with the love he finds there. "Reading Georgette Heyer is the next best thing to reading Jane Austen." -Publishers Weekly Georgette Heyer (1902?1974) wrote over fifty novels, including Regency romances, mysteries, and historical fiction. She was known as the Queen of Regency romance, and was legendary for her research, historical accuracy, and her extraordinary plots and characterizations.

I am a HUGE fan of the marriage of convenience trope, so even though this book has a few issues, I tend to gloss over them. :-D

Quite new to Litsy, but here is my first post!!!!

Working on my vacation #TBR, and a reread of Friday's Child is high on the priority list. I love rereads for vacations - no stress about how things are going to turn out!

#litsywelcomewagon - any tips or insights are quite appreciated as I feel my way around this new site!!

Chelleo Welcome to Litsy! You can checkout these #Litsytips by @RaimeyGallant http://bit.ly/litsytips and #LitsyHowTo videos: goo.gl/UrCpoU are helpful. RaimeyGallant Hello and welcome! 1w
TheAromaofBooks @Chelleo - thank you so much!! Both of those things were quite helpful. Is there any kind of central location to see what kind of reading challenges, etc. are going currently, or do I just need to peruse tags at random? 1w

This week‘s #friyayintro is brought to you with a little help from Nov of 2017. I asked people to ask their own question, and I saved a few of my fave answers!

So this time you can answer some fun questions from @BarbaraTheBibliophage @emtobiasz @Melissa_J & @youneverarrived ! & then ask your own question at the end. 🙂

(You can tag them if ya want, but if it‘s too much work, just tag #friyayintro to make sure it gets seen!)

1. Maybe not bring back, but I‘d live the 00s again—probably my most difficult but also most rewarding decade. Grad school, first “career” job (publishing/editorial), then packing it in to move to South Africa for 3 years!
2. Print! I enjoy audiobooks for lighter fiction, though.

3. Dog training, photography, scuba diving for some
4. Hawaii, Alaska, and Washington (too many things to see in each for me to limit it more than that 😜)
5. What was the last movie you saw?

#friyayintro @howjessreads

madamereadsalot1 I don't watch a lot of movies, so it's been a while, but I did watch Dumplin' a couple months back. It was cute. The book was better. 3mo
wordzie Black Panther about an hour ago on Netflix. Lol. 3mo
ConfessionofaBookaholic @madamereadsalot1 I just watched that recently! I didn‘t get a chance to read the book but the movie was pretty cute. 3mo
See All 10 Comments
ConfessionofaBookaholic @wordzie lol, Netflix is my life if I‘m not careful, I really liked black panther. The take over the world scheme was a little cliché but I really liked the movie either way. 3mo
madamereadsalot1 @ConfessionofaBookaholic you should definitely read it if you liked the movie. The movie is totally a "diet" or "light" version. Half the sweet stuff AND half the flavor. ? And some of the changes definitely took away from the sentimental "aww" worthy scenes. You never even got a chance to get to know Bo in the movie and he's such a sweet character! 3mo
ConfessionofaBookaholic @madamereadsalot1 by your recommendation I‘m definitely adding it to my TBR list! 😊 3mo
Jen_Reads If we are talking in theaters it was Jurassic World fallen Kingdom. I sadly don‘t get to the movies often. 3mo
ConfessionofaBookaholic @Jen_Reads i totally get it. Jurassic world fallen kingdom was a doozy, I‘m still haven‘t finished figuring my feelings about that one, lol 3mo
Lauredhel I rarely go to the movies but we got a voucher for Xmas. Went to the latest how to train your dragon 3mo
ConfessionofaBookaholic @Lauredhel wasn‘t that the greatest way to end that series though? I saw it on Friday and loved it, probably the only case where the movie is better than the books 3mo

TheDaysGoBy @monalyisha Yes! I never understood the love for Eric. I mean he‘s ok, but next to Aladdin? No contest 7mo

hissingpotatoes @TheDaysGoBy I'm kind of ashamed that I still haven't watched the 2nd movie, but HTTYD is my fav movie of all time and I'm just terrified of 2 being disappointing. But now that there's a 3rd coming out I'll def watch it soon. 7mo
TheDaysGoBy @hissingpotatoes I loved the 2nd one. I thought it was as good as the first one but in a different way. I‘d liked the first one and then watched the 2nd not expecting it to be as good, but it was and it really made me realize how well done the series has been. And that‘s when the obsession started 😂 7mo

TheDaysGoBy @Kaye That‘s true! I am better than I used to be so maybe I‘d handle it well. When I first got out of college and lived in DC I got into a fender bender for the first time and was shaking/crying 😂 I was such a timid thing back then 10mo
Kaye Well, I‘ve been called a lot of things, but TIMID is one that‘s not on the books. When I‘ve been stopped I usually say a few choice curse words , while pulling over , then , depending on the policeman, I either play Dumb, Nice , or Funny. It‘s worked for 44 years of driving. Now watch me get a ticket today. 🤨 (edited) 10mo
TheDaysGoBy @Kaye My parents say the older you get the more you speak your mind because you don‘t care. I‘m finding that to be true. But they also used to get off with a lot because they were friends with a lot of the local cops. They‘re all retired now though so they have to watch their speed more lol. I‘m sure you won‘t get a ticket today, though sounds like you know how to handle it if you did 🙂 10mo
Kaye We shall see. Same goes with us. The Hubster was friends with our police chief and the one before that. They are both retired. Oddly enough, I got all 3 STOPS in other towns, not ours. And your parents are right. Getting older, you really don‘t give a crap what people think. You speak your mind. It‘s actually quite a Free sort of feeling. @TheDaysGoBy 10mo

TheDaysGoBy @IheartYA Nice! I do agree with people that the sand is annoying. I think I really love the beach for the sound, the salt air that gives me permanent beach hair and no reason to fix it up, and the way it makes me feel. So give me a pool next to the beach where I can lay out without the sand while still being able to hear it and it‘s perfect 😂 10mo
IheartYA Agree! I told my daughter I would take her and her friend to the beach tomorrow but I'm dreading it. I laid out at the pool for 1.5 hours a few days ago but got no tan! Ugh. I better at least get a tan out of this beach trip! 10mo

1. Going up to the cottage with a stack of books!
2. I do get overambitious—since I‘ve got a preschooler maybe I‘ll say 5 and hope for more?
3. Both! I love winter for the crisp, cold air and snow. I love summer for the heavy, sweet air and warm sun.
4. Susan Aglukark. She was on a raft in the middle of this quarry and the effect was extremely cool.

1.) That‘s a hard one. The Little Mermaid. Snow Queen is runner up for sure, though.
2.) Monsters Inc. I loved Shrek as a child but as an adult, I much prefer Sully and Mike.

2. 1 full 1 step
3. Yes. All my grandparents are still living.
4. A bit. I'm just not good at it. My BF's mother makes a living out of it though so I'm getting better 👍
