"A lightsome, brightsome comedy." -Kirkus Reviews "Nimble, light-hearted chronicle of high London society in the time of the Regency." -The New Yorker Celebrate the 80th birthday of Regency Romance with great books from Sourcebooks Casablanca! Georgette Heyer's sparkling romances have charmed and delighted millions of readers. Her characters brilliantly illuminate one of the most exciting and fascinating eras of English history-when drawing rooms sparkled with well-dressed nobility and romantic intrigues ruled the day. Heyer's heroines are smart and independent; her heroes are dashing noblemen who know how to handle a horse, fight a duel, or address a lady. And her sense of humor is legendary. When the incomparable Miss Milbourne spurns the impetuous Lord Sherington's marriage proposal (she laughs at him-laughs!) he vows to marry the next female he encounters, who happens to be the young, penniless Miss Hero Wantage, who has adored him all her life. Whisking her off to London, Sherry discovers there is no end to the scrapes his young, green bride can get into, and she discovers the excitement and glamorous social scene of the ton. Not until a deep misunderstanding erupts and Sherry almost loses his bride, does he plumb the depths of his own heart, and surprises himself with the love he finds there. "Reading Georgette Heyer is the next best thing to reading Jane Austen." -Publishers Weekly Georgette Heyer (1902?1974) wrote over fifty novels, including Regency romances, mysteries, and historical fiction. She was known as the Queen of Regency romance, and was legendary for her research, historical accuracy, and her extraordinary plots and characterizations.

I just wanted something fun to read and after aimlessly trawling though my TBR I realised that there's ALWAYS a solution to that problem and it's either Terry Pratchett or Georgette Heyer. This time I've gone for Heyer.

LeahBergen It‘s almost Heyer time for me again, too! 11mo

Mehso-so

Though not one of my favorite Heyer books, this one was especially charming because of its hopelessly naive young hero & heroine. It was refreshing to have a hero who may dress the part of a Regency Hero but was exactly what you‘d expect a barely-begun-his-twenties young adult to be, & a very young heroine who had spunk but not much gumption to back it up! It made for some comical dialogue & a cute, silly romp. ★★★☆☆.

ConfessionofaBookaholic @wordzie lol, Netflix is my life if I‘m not careful, I really liked black panther. The take over the world scheme was a little cliché but I really liked the movie either way. 3y
madamereadsalot1 @ConfessionofaBookaholic you should definitely read it if you liked the movie. The movie is totally a "diet" or "light" version. Half the sweet stuff AND half the flavor. ? And some of the changes definitely took away from the sentimental "aww" worthy scenes. You never even got a chance to get to know Bo in the movie and he's such a sweet character! 3y

1. I prefer stand-alone books to series (but I still read a lot of series)
2. Salty! Chips and guac all day!
3. Hilda and Bill, Joe and Kathryn (I was named after her)
4. Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin
5. London

#friyayintro

Canndor I prefer stand alone books for the most part too. There are some series I love, but I usually pass on them. 3y
businessmermaid @Canndor My thoughts exactly 😊 3y

1. Teleport! Mind reading would be hell I think.
2. Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor (partway through, stopped to push on an audiobook due back at library)
3. Write more, procrastinate less. So far, mixed bag. Some really good, some really bad days, productivity wise.
4. Forensic Files and Friends. Downton Abbey and Mrs Maisel on Prime.
5. 🙌🙌🙌

RachelAmphlett Is it bad of me to admit I‘ve never watched It‘s a Wonderful Life? 4y

1. Hm…pretzels maybe? They seem to be my go to snack. I‘m not a foodie so I really don‘t care much about food lol
2. Stephen King? Or maybe Dean Koontz. He really started me in the whole mystery/horror genre
3. If we‘re talking Disney, Aladdin or Flynn Rider. But Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon 2…that cute boy turned handsome. I have a thing for guys with great hair I guess 😂
4. Night owl
5. Will do

#friyayintro @howjessreads

Kaye Stephen King was a good choice. Should‘ve thought of him as I haven‘t read a lot of his books and he‘d have plenty to keep me busy for a year. (edited) 4y
hissingpotatoes I remember my jaw dropping when the first teaser came out for HTTYD2 lol. 4y
monalyisha Aladdin is clearly the dreamiest Disney Prince. 4y

mcctrish For some reason I was stuck in tv show cartoons, you have WAY better choices than me ❤️ 4y
TheKidUpstairs Flynn Rider was totally my second choice 😍 4y
tournevis Allo! 👋👋👋 4y
KrystleTheBookSlayer I love Flynn Rider! 😍 4y
TheDaysGoBy @Kaye Right? There‘s such a huge collection. I‘ve barely scratched the surface with him 4y
TheDaysGoBy @hissingpotatoes I only recently got into the franchise, but I couldn‘t believe it when I saw the movie. Watching the trailer for the 3rd one gets me all teary eyed. I‘m pretty sure I‘m gonna cry watching it 😂 4y
TheDaysGoBy @monalyisha Yes! I never understood the love for Eric. I mean he‘s ok, but next to Aladdin? No contest 4y
monalyisha @TheDaysGoBy Eric is probably my second fav. That hair, those eyes (& big, dark, expressive eyebrows), those thighs in his little blue pants! 😅 Also, Max is a pretty sweet bonus. Such a cute pup! 🐶 4y
hissingpotatoes @TheDaysGoBy I'm kind of ashamed that I still haven't watched the 2nd movie, but HTTYD is my fav movie of all time and I'm just terrified of 2 being disappointing. But now that there's a 3rd coming out I'll def watch it soon. 4y
TheDaysGoBy @hissingpotatoes I loved the 2nd one. I thought it was as good as the first one but in a different way. I‘d liked the first one and then watched the 2nd not expecting it to be as good, but it was and it really made me realize how well done the series has been. And that‘s when the obsession started 😂 4y
hissingpotatoes @TheDaysGoBy Oooh yay that makes me so much more excited to watch it!!! 4y

📗I couldn't find it on here, but it was called ABC Book of Words. It was a Sesame Street book my sister and I loved.
🍰
📚📷 I mostly read, but I do enjoy photography.
🏡 I'm heading to San Diego in a few months to see if I like it there. I'd love to try Sweden & Ireland

3. Biography

5. Favorite thing about your city/town

Kaye It‘s my hometown and I‘ve grown up here, so I guess the familiarity with it is what I like best. Low crime, small town, not exciting, but home. 4y
LittleBug Lots and lots of green!! And hills, cause I don‘t like flat landscapes😊 4y
