I finished this book on Sunday, and I am still not sure how to feel about it. I love that we got more information about Gilead and the changing POV was a treat, but then it stopped right at a point where it got very interesting? Also b/o it read sometimes more like non-Fiction/biographical the mystery was missing a bit. Her writing suffered a bit from that too.
I finally started reading this book 📖 and I am now on page 176. I think so far I like it more than The Handmaid‘s Tale. It offers more information and a more interesting perspective due to the changing narrators.

Please read this article before you buy the book The Tattooist of Auschwitz and it‘s sequel.
I bought this book in my summer holidays after fifth grade and must have read it in those weeks alone 5 times. This book made me want to be a teacher. I‘m going to read it today since I‘m starting my fifth semester at university (teaching profession for English & German) in two weeks!
It pains me to say this but this was NOT GOOD. The definition of an unnecessary sequel. The author just uses the same language & plot points like in Beartown, except this time without the deeper meaning & the emotional effects. A huge part of the book is just repeating events that happened in Beartown until I was tired. There is a lot of unnecessary violence and the new characters just didn‘t make me care so much.

I read this book in one day and then downloaded part II. This book is a perfect story told not really about hockey, but more about the way we treat our boys and how we treat our girls, about small town, friendships, first love and parents and their children. It made me both cry and vent in anger & frustration. This book had so many GENIUS turns and surprises, I can‘t get over it.
I will now read everything by this author!
We visited Stockholm a few years ago for five days, which was good because the few hours we had on Thursday were not nearly enough! In the morning, we went to the ABBA Museum and in the afternoon we just walked around.
How many books you know can you spot in this Swedish bookstore?

Greetings from Sankt Petersburg 🇷🇺, where I was yesterday!
We visited the Catherine Palace (the picture), the Peter-Paul Cathedrale, walked around the Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood, saw the Isaaks Cathedrale and the Eremitage.
Now my feet hurt!
Today I finally started reading 📖 The Bear and the Nightingale and so far it‘s wonderful.
The books 📚 I packed for our family holiday🏞🏙:
- A Man Called Ove (because Sweden 🇸🇪)
-The Bear 🐻 and the Nightingale (because Russia)
-The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (because traveling 🧳)
-How to be both (just because)
I also have a few other books on my kindle which I haven‘t read it yet, so I should be safe 👌.

I really liked the darkness of this book and this terrible sense that something bad is going to happen (which it obviously did). It‘s certainly a weird book but finally in a weird way I like. Now I just need someone to explain if it all means what I think it means??
And wow, that ending.

If you haven‘t heard about the time last year when a virtually unknown YA book mysteriously climbed the NYT bestseller list, you should read this article:
Can someone clear this up for me: is this book autobiographical, i.e telling the real life story of the author? Or is it just a satirical commentary on society or something?

Finished with a whooping ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
I have loved the series for YEARS (Netflix has removed it- disgraceful- and I am seriously contemplating of just buying all the 7 seasons DVDs to catch up) and I really enjoyed this book. Worth is a wonderful narrator and each chapter is a glimpse into her world. Fascinating insight into the East End & the development of society and medicine.

A picture from inside the Persephone Bookstore at Russel Square! It re-publishes books by female authors, most of them from the 20th Century, who didn‘t receive the attention they deserved. All the books have a grey cover and come with a fitting bookmark.

A picture from inside the MinaLima store at Greek Street (around the corner of the Cursed Child Theatre). It sells exclusive, very expensive prints, but you can save money and look at them in their exhibition. Downstairs is the shop, they have replicated Hogwarts school books, posters for 10 pound, pins, magnets and lots of other fabulous stuff!
“Well, well, my dear fellow, be it so. We have shared this same room for some years, and it would be amusing if we ended by sharing the same cell. (...)“
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle.
I‘m back at home and I bought a lot of stuff 😅. Also I‘m dog-tired and will hopefully manage a long night of sleep.
Hello London, I‘m back 🤗 (til Friday).
This is an art installment by Yinka Shonibare called The British Library. It shows the books by first and second generation immigrants who came to the UK. You can see it in the Tate Modern Museum, where O also visited the amazing Olafur Eliasson exhibition. In the evening, I saw the musical Waitress and had a lot of fun.

I liked the idea and the overall sentiment of celebrating taking up space as women, but I think the plot surrounding it could have been much better.

It will be over a year since I bought it in London but I will finally read it in my travel week when I go to St. Petersburg! It is inspired by Russian folklore, so it‘s very fitting 📚.
Any recommendations of books that are set/have a connection with Sweden (Stockholm), Finland (Helsinki) and Estonia (Tallinn)?

Three Women is a book that has already been widely discussed in my corner of the internet, so, easily influenced as I am concerning books, I had to read it myself. The first impression is certainly the cover with the fruit 🍎. The books tells the story of three women (huh) and their sexual experiences, which makes it a bit revolutionary. It‘s not fiction but not really non-fiction either. It offers a lot food for thought 💭.
I bought this book spontaneously yesterday and I enjoyed it. It offers a quick overview of the lives of 21 influential women, while not running away from necessary criticism. I especially liked the chapters where the author could draw from her own experiences through her meetings with these women.

LOOK AT THIS PARADISE OKAY? ?
This is my favourite bookstore in Germany: Dussmann in the Friedrichstraße (Berlin Mitte). It has the biggest English books variety in the country, a huge selection of notebooks, travel books, dvds, cds, and more. Also, it is absolutely gorgeous ?.

Today, I went on another trip to Berlin 🌸🚂. This photo was taken at a break at Starbucks with one my new books: Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino, a collection of essays about the internet, influence etc. Now I‘m beating myself up a bit for using a plastic cup. I‘m working on massively reducing my plastics use.

ALL THE BOOKS I read in the last two weeks! Yeah 🥳. I enjoyed reading all of them, so that‘s a big win! Most of them were read in our garden while keeping an eye on our young, very curious cat.

The next books on my list! Hopefully I can go to Berlin next week, to my favourite bookstore in Germany. Otherwise I‘ll end up without reading material 😱.

I‘m used to suspend my disbelief but this book asked me to believe a lot of very dumb stuff. Lots of escapism, not much realism. There is a lot of (rightful) criticism of the British monarchy, but nothing about America‘s history of racism & imperialism. America is portrayed as this big fantasy land which is annoying given reality.
Still, lots of cute stuff, though I prefer fanfiction.
