Of course this trilogy is trash and has sexist tendencies, but it‘s perfect for sunny weekends while you enjoy your Aperol Spritz.

#TheBookThief is one of my absolute favourite books 📖, and I‘m happy I own the English version now too! Although, I have to admit that this book is actually better in the German translation?! It works so much better without random German phrases sprinkled in.
I‘m spending the long weekend at my parents and today, we used our small boat 🚤 for the 1st time this year and enjoyed the sun ☀️.
My books for the long and hopefully warm & sunny ☀️ weekend! I‘m already done with my reread of #Circe (5 stars ofc), and now I‘m reading The Book Thief, one of my 3 favourite books for the first time I English! I‘m very nervous about Bridge of Clay, that book has been waiting for 4 years but I‘m just too scared it won‘t meet my (high) expectations!

This book was quite disappointing, compared to Last Night at the Telegraph Club. I really didn‘t like that the romance was an affair. The main character wasn‘t very interesting, and all the other relationships fell flat.

Our last stop was Copenhagen, 🇩🇰 on Friday. On our way, I read The Copenhagen Trilogy. It‘s quite good.
The capital of Denmark greeted us with a storm 🌬️, but this didn‘t stop me from enjoying one last ice cream 🍦.

Ove would have loved Visby, Sweden 🇸🇪.
On Wednesday, we went on a cycling 🚴♀️ tour on Gotland (2nd biggest island of the Baltic Sea). We saw lots of sheep 🐑 and lots of sheep 🐑 statues. The ice cream 🍦 shop is called „Gotlato“, which is hilarious.

Next destination: Gdańsk, Poland 🇵🇱
This is the Neptune Fountain, and the house behind is called Artus Court. The citizens wanted to thank the Sea God for the flourishing trade, and the rich merchants wanted to compare themselves to the Knights of the Round Table. Gdańsk was bombed thrice during WWII and they rebuilt everything beautifully. The Museum of WWII is a must-visit.

There is no limit to how many photos I can take of me and my Karnebull. Delicious! This cinnamon roll is from Bröd & Salt, yesterdays roll was from Espresso House.

Today, we walked through Gamla Stan (Old Town) and I had time for a short visit into this lovely bookstore focused on fantasy! They had lots of English books as well, so I assume that the Swedish translation probably takes a while and that not every book might even get one. 🇸🇪📕🗺️⚓️

First day of sightseeing in #Stockholm! We visited the Vasamuseum, where you can see an original war ship from 1626, which immediately sank after leaving the port. Then, we wandered through the shopping malls to the giant Stadthus, and finally went to the Ice Bar (-5 Degrees!) and enjoyed a VERY cold 🍹.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

I reread #Beartown and #UsAgainstThem by #FredrikBackman yesterday, for the first time since 2019 (when I also visited Stockholm), and today I found the Swedish original in a bookstore at the Centralstation 🇸🇪. I also saw a lot of other Swedish translation, and I really hated the covers. Apparently, they like real people on the covers 🙃.

I‘m on holiday with my parents and a few family friends! We are taking a cruise 🚢 to Stockholm, Visby, Gdańsk and Copenhagen. I‘m experimenting with this Kindle cover and stickers, and tbh, I‘m not sure I like it, but I also want to do something different with my reader…?

They JUST announced the Shortlist for the #WomensPrize! I haven‘t been keeping up this year, so I hope I will do better with the Shortlist. So far, I‘ve only read The Marriage Portrait and I absolutely loved it. Demon Copperhead and Trespasses both sound great as well!

I had a very nice Easter bunny 🐰 this morning! My family and I still hide presents 🎁 for each other, no matter how old we all are 😅. It‘s always a lot of fun.

There was sooooo much advertising for this book in London, because it was #Waterstones Book of the Month in March. Although I already owned it on my kindle, I couldn‘t resist buying the paperback too (I‘m very influential when it comes to books 🫣).
Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault!!! This book is a lot less funny and lighthearted than what most people say!!
#lessonsinchemistry
I feel like this is quite hilarious for people around my age (around 25), for others, it may seem too superficial. There is a lot about partying, alcohol, sex and generally, trying yourself out.

This unassuming book is also in the British Library, because it‘s a draft of The Importance of being Earnest by Oscar Wilde! On this page, Algernon announces his engagement to Cecil.

This folio was collected by two friends after Shakespeare‘s death. Without it, we wouldn‘t have plays like Macbeth and The Tempest. It‘s one the most famous books in the world.

I read the first book I bought from #GaysTheWord on the airplane back to Germany, and now I‘m happily laying in my own bed.
#Outrageous (which is signed by the author) is about the history of Section 28, and you can draw so many comparisons to what‘s happening in Republican states in the USA right now… very interesting and well-written.

This bookstore is amazing. If you‘re ever in London, it‘s close to the British Museum & King‘s Cross. Just take the tube 🚇 to Russel Square (Picadilly Line), and you will stand before it in ~3 minutes 📚☺️.

Lessons in Chemistry is Waterstone‘s Book of the Month, so they built her kitchen on the first floor. Cute!

I‘m back in London from Montay til Friday. My hostel is close the wonderful & historical bookstore “Gay‘s the Word”. They usually have many signed books and also hold special events. Looking forward to going back tomorrow!

Christopher Paolini announced a fifth book in the #Eragon Saga yesterday. The main character is Murtagh and it takes place after the end of the original series. The #Inheritanceseries was my first fantasy saga as a kid, and I was terribly disappointed by the ending.

I‘m doing my internship for English at a school rn and it‘s extremely overwhelming, loud and stressful. I‘m also dragging myself through HoO, a series I started ten years ago and now finally want to finish. It‘s difficult b/c I find 3 of the 7 insufferable, the plot is clumsy and the books are way too long.

It‘s time for a comfort reread!

Thankfully this was only 0,99€ on Kindle. The characters have one very annoying trait - Emma is obsessed with love, Sophia thinks love doesn‘t exist. Together with their terrible friend group, they want to make a film. Sophia can‘t shut up about artsy French movies and never explains what artsy means. There is a lot of lying & manipulation and a half-cooked coming-out story.

Okay, I‘ve worked myself through a few old YA fiction favourite this week. I read Simon vs…, The Exact Opposite of Okay, The Female of the Species, Girl made of Stars, Exit pursued by a bear and We are Okay. Apart from the last one, they all had #HarryPotter references. Which proves how big HP was in the last ten years, but also how bad these references aged.
I preferred book 1 and 2, but The Golden Enclaves is still a worthy conclusion. I enjoyed meeting all of the characters and discovering more about the enclaves. El really grew to me as a character, although she felt very overpowered. Orion has great golden retriever energy.

I think I‘m back in Young-Adult fever. In 2018, I read The Cruel Prince & loved it, and then somehow I never continued the series. Over the last weekend, I read all 3 books (I spent ~6 hours on trains) and throughly enjoyed them.

The weekend in Berlin with my friends was fun and a nice change, but I don‘t feel rested at all 🥱😴.
New books!
I‘m in Berlin this weekend. This is a memorial at the Bahnhof Friedrichstraße. It‘s called Trains to Death, Trains to Life 1938-1945 and it remembers the deported families. Most of them were deported to the East, where they were brutally murdered. Only some of them had the chance to flee Germany and to survive. Yesterday was the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. We remember.

Yet another example that mysteries just don‘t excite me. This book dragged on for ages. The font used in Pip‘s notes was way too small (and I‘ve got really good eyes). You also have to suspend your disbelief A LOT while reading this.
#YoungAdult #crime
#GirlinPieces deals with many difficult and dark topics, in a very YA type of way. However, I appreciate that it still felt new and that the author wrote a poor, traumatized and abused main character who somehow fought her way through the darkness. Charlie has a very powerful voice.
#youngadult
Phew, the sequel had even more action and excitement! The characters all grew on me, and I really liked many side characters too. Now I just have to figure out how to get book 3 as soon as possible.
#TheScholomance #NaomiNovik
My first foray into #BrandonSanderson is going well. #Starsight was just as action-packed and exciting as #Skyward. I thought Cytonic would be the finale, but there is another book coming out this year, plus three novellas. Not sure how to feel about this.
#SciFi
Absolute fabulous book, I highly recommend it. The author also has a podcast called Betwixt the Sheets, which covers everything from Female Pirates to Medieval Sex to the History of Women in Football.
#nonfiction #cover
I Love Kate Lister‘s podcast, Betwixt the Sheets, and I‘m enjoying her book too. Yesterday, I learned that women started a petition to ban coffee, because they believed it dried men out and stopped them performing well in the bathroom. Also, the Kellog brothers invented cornflakes to cure serial masturbators. The more you know!
A fellow gay friend recommend this to me. The story has been done a thousand times, but it was cute and gay and quite adorable.
