That was definitely an epic battle, but I'm also incredibly sad. The last few bits were really chaotic and I think what Denki said hits so true. All Might always gave a sense of hope and comfort, meanwhile, no matter how strong Deku gets, even as he's the strongest, there's something missing. So it makes sense that the final battle would turn out this way #manga

#26for26 recap

Here are the 6 books I read, I was a few hours short of 26! 😆

✅ 26 pages

But I did finish 6 books already and I call that a win!!

Damn, all the guys in here are hot. Are there manga that make designs like these still? 🥵 The story is also pretty interesting and sounds like something that would be a problem now (training tech with humans to create a powerful tool) but this is from 2006. I'm curious to see what'll happen, which is funny bc the text can get technical sometimes, which I'm not the biggest fan of. But here I don't mind #manga

Surprise: this is a sequel! But actually, it's very easy to follow the plot and all the characters, even with the MCs flaws, were fun and loveable in their own ways. I'm really curious about the ending tho, esp with how the "villain" was acting tho I'm not sure if there's a third book #middlegrade #fantasy #chineselore

I haven't made as much progress as I'd like, but we're getting there, slowly. I'm also starting to feel like this isn't the first book to whatever is going on here. ✅ 26 chapters finished!

Next is 26 hours, I wonder if I'll be able to finish! So far I've spent 35min with this book (yes, this time I'm timing it, just in case, lol!)

I was a bit confused as to what was happening, but I think I'm starting to slot the puzzle together. I think this might be a book about a kid who has to grow up and be a parent too soon 🤔 #yafiction

I also didn't check how long it took me to read this, I figured I'd just check the audiobook time but it doesn't have an audiobook 😭😭 so I'll just say it took me like 4 hours to finish half of it?? It was probably more but I'd rather guess on the lower end

My leftover from last month, I'm finally done!! But I'm sad to report that my meh feeling for it never really improved. I think I just wasn't a fan of Ceci and her struggles. The mystery of the Sevilla house and the Cegua also wasn't as profound (or mysterious) as it was being presented. Instead, I was SUPER curious about her mom and all we uncovered about her HS days. I wish we'd followed her. Her story felt more substantial than Ceci's #fantasy

I went in not really sure I'd like it and ended up tearfully writing a review telling everyone to check it out. It's a story told via diary entries as Iveliz struggles to start the healing process after her father dies. It's really raw and a book I hope will help kids feel like they're not alone #middlegrade

I can see why I originally requested this book. It's steeped in fairytales and magic, but after reading it...I felt it was lacking. Both characters felt superficial, esp our main Rose. I was more entertained during the flashbacks, meanwhile the present timeline was tragic for (as we come to learn) no reason except self-pity. The antagonist problem was also solved in like...10 pages so really, I'd pass. Luckily, it was a short read lol #fantasy

An easy to read #nonfiction title about some interesting queens. I wouldn't recommend it alone, but that's generally how it is when reading nf. You have to read from various titles and POVs. Still, I think this one really gives a good image of both characters, esp Anne prior to her marriage and how her actions and passions inspired and influenced Elizabeth, who I only came to know now #anneboleyn

"...Elizabeth harboured a deep, visceral fear of marriage."

I'm not saying it couldn't be trauma, but why is it framed as trauma and fear, when it can also be considered common sense and self-preservation?? Like hmm yes, all these women before me either died from childbirth or were manipulated by these men, I don't want to die like that so it makes logical sense to, y'know, not do the whole marriage thing #anneboleyn #nonfiction

Anne's brother saying "with his [Henry's] problems, it's hard to see how the king ever produced Elizabeth" is soooooo funny ? Like, he's gonna die anyway, so I applaud him getting in an insult at the king before that.

"But it is partly thanks to such scurrilous remarks..." nah man, they believed what they wanted to be the truth, it was going to haunt her even if he'd played nice #anneboleyn #nonfiction

Finished! Ngl, Idk what to say. I did warm up to the couple, but I felt like the world and magic were a bit lacking. The story focuses more on the smut, which was decent, but I guess I wanted a bit more. The family drama was technically resolved, but again, it didn't feel as well done as the holiday prince series. A decent read #queer

Not bad, but it feels like it wasn't exactly what I was looking for (I wanted more food and coziness), which (in a way) reflects the world we live in now. Many of the essays were more serious than I expected but I was also impressed by how food could be so #political. Or rather, I know it is, but these essays really pushed me to think about to what extent that could mean. The last essay was a fun one to end with #queer

Review 1/2: Finally finished it! I mentioned it was a bit raunchier than I wanted which is crazy considering all the fanfic I read, but HMMMM, it was more interesting than I thought. The story revolves around Lucifer, hell, angels, and a clan of women who end up spun up in a revenge plot. Pretty typical, but I'd say the highlight was def the non-monogamous relationship it featured! I've never seen it in other books #queer

blurb

post image

Review 2/2: I'd say there's nothing esp special about the story but I have to praise it for the relationships and sex positivity, esp as female empowerment. I'm no expert but based on this chart, I'd say this features some form of poly-fidelity and relationship anarchy? which I've NEVER seen in other books 🤔 #queer

A really good read. There *was* something about the MC I didn't really like, which somehow made him more "real". I also like that he realizes that a part of him is a lot like his father. The final battle felt a bit anticlimactic, which honestly doesn't surprise me, it usually is LOL. but I liked the relationship dynamics and how it all ended. It feels complete but there is a sequel. I wonder what's next #queer #trans #nonbinary

I'm a bit confused with the passage of time. Our MCs have "only just' met but then there will be passages that imply it's been "a while" ? anyways, started this one bc the sequel is on my #netgalley backlog, no opinions so far, everything's been ok so far. The MC is a bit angry and judgemental, which is a bit annoying, but this is YA/NA so it's expected #queer #transrep

Loved this book!! It's so hard to describe. A sort of murder mystery, but also a book of healing, grief, and love. It tells the story of Vivek through the eyes of others and the tragedy of not knowing a trans person until their death (bc prejudices). Def rec'd, esp the audiobook!

It's my first time seeing their story and it's so silly, cute, and wholesome. Kang Dae is such a prickly character, but Bo Seon is literal sunshine and can melt anyone's heart. Also, ghosts, which I didn't expect LOL

I may have gotten excited when making these rec lists! I just really like these books. Similar to my own TBR, I chose a few spooky levels ? #hauntedshelf @BookwormAHN

Scary & real are titles that either have magical realism or fall more into a "fiction" genre but have some fantasy element #reclist #blackcatcrew

coffees If you‘re looking to read something more on the scary scale, I‘d recommend: Bury Your Gays (scifi), The Route of Ice and Salt (novella), The Sacrifice (ancient gods), The White Guy Dies First (short story collection), The Blonde Dies First (ouija board), and Bat Eater and Other Names for Cora Zeng (haunting). 4mo
coffees If you‘re looking for something that focuses more on the supernatural aspect related to spookiness, but not necessarily too much “scary”, I‘d recommend: A Cruel Thirst (romance), The Diablo‘s Curse (cursed lost treasure), Spell Bound (queers who can magic), The Buried and the Bound (lover‘s curse), and A Vampire in the Bathhouse (fluff and vampires). 4mo
coffees And if you want something that borders between reality and magic, with various levels of disturbing, I rec: The Fox Wife (depression), Cold (queer teen murder), Into the Light (conversion therapy), The Ghost Bride (afterlife), Legendborn (black generational magic), and hungry ghost (eating disorder). Legendborn is the more fantastical, but I felt it fit the theme of a more realistic horror (and I really like it), so I added it to the list. 4mo
