• No matter how you feel about Attachment Parenting, I still believe this is a good, valuable read. It provides the basics of the parenting style and gives you options (and, ahem, permission from the boundaries of society) to parent with as much freedom or structure as you desire. I don't understand the criticism of this book; I have found that Bialik writes in a friendly tone. It works for me...but I understand not everyone will follow. •

"It is not the accuracy of recall that matters in OCD, but a loss of confidence that those memories are true. People who carry out compulsive checks seem to trust their memory less, and the more they check, the more this distrust grows. It is another vicious cycle: memory uncertainty provokes the need to check, and to check increases memory uncertainty."

"The only way to free a trapped thought was for another to knock it out, send it on its way, and for it to settle there instead. Some intrusive thoughts would remain for days or weeks, others would last for just a few minutes. But the net was always full. • I have never read John Green before, but have heard much praise over the years. I suffer from OCD, and since the MC in this book has OCD, I think this one might be a good place to start. I was so excited to hear the premise of this book. Can anyone vouch for this title in particular, and give some encouragement to read this author? Several of his books are on my TBR. •

Megabooks My favorite of his is the one I‘ll tag. This one was in the middle for me as far as his go. Solid, but not great. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6d

• I love a good mental health memoir but this one just failed to impress me. I'm giving it 2/5 ⭐️ bc it often felt like the author was reading from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. I get it, she had this crazy physical/mental problem with the strangest symptoms and it's certainly a story worth telling; however, the delivery did nothing to keep my interest. I finished the book on audio--but quite listlessly •

But now, in my 7th month, I can't STOP reading aloud because I am officially reading to my son! I hope he will know my voice from all this reading time and we will bond because of it 🥰 •

• 3/5 ⭐️ Now that I have a basic understanding of Scientology, I approached this one casually. It was a good book, but not particularly enlightening. The most rewarding part of these cult memoirs is, of course, the "a-ha" moment when the author finally realizes they're done with the insanity and they go on to live happy, fulfilling lives without the abuse and human rights violations so prevalent in cults. On audiobook, Hill's story comes alive •

I dislike that the content seems to have been completely overhauled; I was learning so much from the earlier edition. (This is one of those books that is good for highlighting and note-taking.) Pickpick

• Finished my first Patricia Cornwell fiction. I had only read one of her nonfiction books over a decade ago; it was high time to try her Kay Scarpetta series. I started with this one (#19) after I found this book amidst several others and it appeared to be the only Patricia Cornwell. It reads well as a standalone so I didn't feel odd diving into a long-running series with book 19. The library has the rest when I start from the beginning. •

We must be thankful to all the people who have helped us, we must honour them and love them. Krisjericho Congrats! I liked the Hypnobirthing book, but I found the classes more helpful. Also, the only advice I ever give to expecting moms is that if you want a great chance of having the birth you want, whatever that is, get a doula! Totally worth the money. (I‘m not a doula - just a mom who‘s given birth six times in all different ways - hospital, home, natural, epidural, water birth, and even stillbirth. I wish I‘d had a doula with all of them!) 2mo
