How do you solve a murder when everyone's a suspect?Tormented by the recent loss of a colleague, DCI Jack Logan is on the warpath, determined to bring down all those he holds responsible for the officer's death. His quest for revenge is cut short when a woman's body turns up on the remote island of Canna, and Jack is summoned to investigate. As a storm closes in, Jack finds himself cut-off from the rest of the world, with no car, no phone signal, and only DC Neish for company. With time running out before the ferries resume, Jack must act fast to crack the case before the killer can escape. But with the victim widely hated on the island, everyone on it is a potential suspect.Even the scarecrow...The Last Bloody Straw is the fifth book in the DCI Jack Logan series, set in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Stuart Macbride.

Difficult to choose a favourite book for #January for #12Booksof2023, too many good ones to choose from.

Gone for this book in one of my favourite current crime series, which took DCI Logan and Tyler to a remote Scottish island and sone hilarious moments between them.

Notable mentions to Carrie Soto is Back, Blood and Treachery also in the DCI Logan series and Shaken in the Jack Daniels series by J A Konrath.

TheSpineView Love this series! 4mo
Andrew65 @TheSpineView Might not be the only month it‘s picked ❤️ 4mo
TheSpineView @Andrew65 You can't go wrong with it. BTW, if you sign up for Kirk's newsletter you get bonus material. He just started a Hoon comic strip that is only available in his newsletter. 4mo

I‘m really enjoying this series. The storylines are really great and, though they‘re police procedurals, there‘s a lot of dark humor (or just plain humor) that makes me laugh out loud. I really recommend this series if you‘re a fan of police procedurals, especially those set in Scotland. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

3/225 Simply love this series and it just keeps getting better. Logan and Tyler are stuck on a remote island investigating a murder and that leaves plenty of laugh out loud moments in this book. A difficult murder case as the way the woman has led her life has left many suspects despite it being a small community. Left on a big cliffhanger.

2nd book read for #SeriesLove2023 @TheSpineView #2

Jan 2nd #WinterReadathon #WinterReadathonDailyChallenge

This week is Someday We‘ll Laugh About This Week. We all need laughter in our lives and we can feel so much better about ourselves after a laugh. Today‘s daily challenge is to post something or a book that makes you laugh.

My current book (tagged) is making me laugh, but so do the Myron Bolitar books by Harlan Coben.

Velvetfur I'm currently listening to 'Should We Stay Or Should We Go' by Lionel Shriver, which I would recommend as a funny one despite the dark theme 😊 1y
Andrew65 @Velvetfur Often humour is needed amongst the dark themes. 1y

Moving straight onto Book 5 of this series following key incidents in book 4. Want to see how they respond and whether it is what I am expecting (and hoping).
