In this hilarious and thought-provoking contemporary teen standalone that's perfect for fans of Moxie, a bookworm finds a way to fight back when her school bans dozens of classic and meaningful books. Clara Evans is horrified when she discovers her principal's “prohibited media” hit list.

Soooo great! I loved the irony of the principle in this book trying to ban a book about the consequences of banning books. Everything was great, but it missed that one thing that makes the books five stars. And I think it would have been better if they didn‘t refer to the school as LA, and I‘d they explained where the book was set in more detail then “the South”. 4⭐️ The mask is from Out of Print.

Nute This does have me thinking about the narratives that would be unknown if banned books were also completely unavailable. 3y

I got this audiobook as an advance listening copy from Libro.fm and completely binged it over the past day. YA contemporary about a teen running a black market banned book library out of her school locker(and so much more!)
Is it message driven? Oh yes, it is. Did I fucking love it anyways? Fuck yes, I loved this book!
Highly recommended 💕

I wanted a little more dramatic ending but still a solid 5☆ read for me. Like Alan Gratz' lower grade chapter book Ban This Book, each struck a personal cord for me. Censorship is not, nor will it ever be, okay. So many great quotes from challenged books throughout history can be found at the beginning of each chapter. The characters reflect all students and social norms. They are scared. Brave. Questioning. Driven. Loyal. They are us. ♡

Clara is ready for her last year of high school. But on the 1st day she finds out the school is banning a bunch of books. When she is given the books to put in her little libraries, Clara decides she is going to make her own underground library at school. So many people are checking out the books. She is so excited that it is working out until a tragedy strikes. Was it her fault for loaning out the banned books?

Mehso-so

I love the message this book was trying to convey, but I had a hard time connecting with it nonetheless. I didn‘t love the hypocrisy of Clara, even after she acknowledged such hypocrisy. I also had a hard time believing banned books would suddenly be all the rage with teenagers, at least without more build up. That being said, there is a topic, and a message, worth stating that isn‘t often addressed, especially in books about books.
