“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry.”

I don‘t think I was the target for this, as it took me a little longer to get into. It‘s a good story about a teen girl who gets to pitch for a professional team right out of high school. It didn‘t focus on romance or drama (outside of “oh no a girl plays baseball”). It treats the whole story with realism though which was refreshing. It‘s a no frills baseball story FOR ANYONE! I can appreciate that much. #vhsreads #viloniareads #yalit

4/5 (just due to some minor pacing problems). A very fascinating sequel to “House of Furies”. Again, I looove the Gothic atmosphere & that it‘s set in the early 19th century. Also, so very ambitious, a lot going on! I love how it involves cross-cultural mythos, as well as insights into the evolution of religion & the nature of “good” & “evil”.

A Thousand Shades of Blue | Robin Stevenson

I have serious feels about this book. First this book contains cheating and inappropriate age gaps. You have been warned. Also the way it is written has a strong suggestion of approval. This bugs me the most because this a middle grade book. No resolution. Which would be realistic and totally fine if it were targeted at adults like me. it is being marketed to kids and teens who are going to read and possibly learn unhealthy relationship habits.

#notthetaggedbook. Webcomic memoir, incomplete and ongoing. All I know going into it is that the memoirist is depicting her recovery from a relationship with an abuser.

(Scene context: a therapy session discussing writer's first book and writer's experience growing up with an autistic sibling.)

I love a good YA story and a good ❤️ story. Throw in some travel, and I‘m sold. I picked this book to relive my time in Europe. Listening to them travel to all the same places made me happy and sad all at once. Take me back to Europe!!! I‘d gladly travel with Sydney and her friend Kat, and of course Jackson! However, Leela needs to stay home. She was selfish and annoying and I couldn‘t stand her. Quick, easy, fun read! #Book20of2019

Book friends! As you may know, Amazon warehouse workers in Minnesota are on strike to protest their abysmal work conditions. Don‘t cross the virtual picket line by shopping Prime Day! Here‘s a great place to buy books instead, or shop at your local independent book dealer. #shoplocal #solidarity

Megabooks Emily said it was worse working at Amazon than a call center or McDonald‘s! This is a great book!! 5d
