Early and rare warm evening, great for finishing this book on the porch. I loved this book, but lost some patience with abrupt scene changes. It's a great middle grade read that touches on mental illness (without the drama of suicide). It's rare to see budding romances at this level, but some kids crave that. 🏝 🇻🇬 #LGBTQ 🌈 #rainbowlibrary 🏳️‍🌈 #kidsneedtoseethemselves #bannedbook 🚫

TheBookHippie I liked this one! 1mo
mandarchy @TheBookHippie I like her characterization of the other girls at school. Her main character was so completely alone at times. 1mo
TheBookHippie @mandarchy Yes. Reminded me of my childhood a bit. I can see this book being so helpful to so many readers. Did you read Felix ever after? 1mo

mandarchy @TheBookHippie not yet. I am not aware of it. Is it the same author? I just down loaded a Kelly Barnhill book. I'm trying to put off adult fiction until school gets out. So I'm on a middle grade kick. 🙃 I'll go see if I can find Felix. 1mo
TheBookHippie @mandarchy same author - YA I believe . 1mo
mandarchy @TheBookHippie I'll have to put it off with the adult fiction. My oldest students are 11. 1mo
TheBookHippie @mandarchy I get that! My oldest students currently are 8 ♥️. 1mo
mandarchy @TheBookHippie I'm really happy they made Hurricane Child MG. We need more rainbow reads, one- so kids can see themselves and two- to normalize lgbtq identity. I'm glad publishers are diversifying, the book banning will hopeful drive sales. I feel bad for kids living in communities that squash their being, hopefully they find these books on their own. 1mo
TheBookHippie @mandarchy I whole heartedly agree! 1mo

The annual Trinity boy‘s prep school fundraiser involves selling chocolates. This year the school‘s secret society,The Vigils, is asked by Brother Leon to make certain it is a success. Sadistic Brother Leon has misappropriated school funds. New student Jerry Renault decides not to participate, and the school is in an uproar. #bullying #facultycorruption #bannedbook

4-6 grade book about those grades fighting back against book banning in their school library. Amy Anne is a quiet child, spends all her time at the library, and reminds me so much of myself when I was younger. (I was homeschooled thou) I loved and her friends final plan for the school board. The loop around Treys mom was very well placed, and used to help the story. I felt with these children so badly it hurt. Teared up once or twice

I love this librarian 📚
She‘s standing up in front of the school board to tell them off. They breached protocol because a well know and rich community member says some books shouldn‘t be allowed in the school. Which one is Amy Anne‘s favorite book. This is an elementary school book written for middle school grade. Have to remind myself about that when Amy Anne reacts in childish ways. Same with it simply coming from her point of view

Cosmos_Moon I read those three bottom books last year. Great books. 9mo

Clearly, I am not the intended audience, but still…I would like that hour of my life back, please. So boring. And I wanted to punch Rose. 🤷🏻‍♀️

tpixie Lol now I can‘t wait to read it and see w what you saw! 🤪 2w
DGRachel @tpixie I don‘t even remember this at all. I‘m going to have to see if I left a more descriptive review on Goodreads. 😂😂 2w
tpixie @DGRachel i‘m glad I‘m not the only one who forgets what was in the book I read as soon as I go on to the next book! 2w
