I don‘t even remember entering a contest for this! 😱
Lovely bookmark though! 🐍
One of my goals this year is to read my father‘s favorite series. So far, so good.
Another day, another subject for #OWLsReadathon2019 complete! This one was a fun one.
What if you AREN‘T the Chosen One? Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week‘s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.
Defense Against the Dark Arts (title begins with “R”) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#OWLsReadathon2019 that‘s History of Magic (published 10+ years ago) done. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
OWLs completed to date 9/12
I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. The first half dragged on and on, and definitely could have benefitted from some additional editing. The story picked up in the second half though, and by the end I was definitely invested in what happened to Bo and the rest of Berkshire Academy.
#OWLsReadathon2019: Muggle Studies (contemporary)
#OWLsReadathon2019: Care of Magical Creatures (land animal on the cover) complete. ⭐️⭐️.5
I wish the pages within were as stunning as the cover. For a novel under 300 pages the story seemed to drag on and repeat itself. I did enjoy the final few chapters of the book‘s climax, though I won‘t be picking up book 2.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this followup to Starflight, but not as much as I hoped I would. I think it was due to the fact that we switch to following two side characters from the original novel and I just wasn‘t as invested in their story. Still a fun space adventure!
#OWLsReadathon2019: Potions (a sequel) completed.
Finished my first O.W.L with Astronomy (book with star in the title). Starflight by Melissa Landers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a reread for me, but it‘s been nearly 3 years and I didn‘t remember much. Such a fun story filled with romance, adventure, space pirates and conspiracies! Planning to pick up book 2 for my Potions final. #OWLsReadathon2018
Needless songs aside, I enjoyed the story. The Peter Jackson adaptation is awesome, but I loved the extra details and character development. It‘s not without flaws - I think in today‘s editing world it would (and should) be trimmed down a bit, but overall a great adventure. 4🌟
I‘m not a fan of all the songs and poems (which is why I haven‘t attempted LOTR until now after reading the Hobbit years ago), but I actually really love this one.
I‘m really enjoying following along in my physical copies while listening to the audiobook. I think I will consume all three this way.
Finally consuming this classic series that has been in my tbr forever. It was my dad‘s favorite story and I have fond memories of him sitting in the living room nursing his old beat up copies, enjoying is rereads over and over. I love the films so I‘m hoping to love the source material just as much.
Here‘s my #AprilTBR for #OWLsReadathon2019! From top to bottom:
Ancient Runes (retelling)
Arithmancy (more than 1 author)
Astronomy (“Star” in title)
Care of Magical Creatures (land animal on cover)
Charms (adult work)
DADA (starts with “R”)
Divination (set in future)
Herbology (plant on cover)
History of Magic (published 10+ yrs ago)
Muggle Studies (contemporary)
Transfiguration (sprayed edges or red cover)
Who‘s excited for the second round of O.W.L.s next month? I may or may not have already set my tbr for this (let‘s be real I‘m a total Ravenclaw overachiever and my tbr is already done😂). #magicalreadathon2019

KoS is the only 2019 release I‘ve picked up this year so far, and it did not disappoint! Got my preorder swag today and love it - it immediately went on my jean jacket right above the SoC pins🤓
I‘ve decided 2019 is the year I will read all of the Sherlock stories. Most of these will be new to me as I only have memories of reading The Hound of the Baskervilles in my youth, however I expect some to be familiar given my love of the BBC series.
Even though they are short stories, the prose is dense and I‘m reading them slowly. Here‘s hoping I can stick to one story a week🤞🏻
Anyone else in the US spend the day binge watching A Discovery of Witches while drinking tea or wine?
I have to say, I‘m pretty pleased with the adaptation. I feel it‘s fairly faithful to the source material while adding new dimensions to the story. I only read the book about 8 months ago, so the story is pretty fresh in my mind, and yet I still found myself on the edge of my seat awaiting what was coming. Looking forward to seasons 2&3!
The memories in the pensieve. Dumbledore. Tonks & Lupin. Ginny. Draco. Snape. Dobby. Kreacher. SO MUCH MORE DETAIL.
It‘s been several yrs since I‘ve reread book 6. I remember being confused about Snape after this one & when BN sold book 7 & asked if he was good or evil I couldn‘t decide. I love this book more than I realized. 😭😭😭
1. My goal is 52 books, but hoping to double that like last year. I want to make a dent in my tbr from books I already own, so I‘m determined not to buy new releases (or books in general) unless I plan to read them immediately. Participate in as many readathons as possible.
2. I don‘t really celebrate New Year‘s other than to set my Goodreads goal, so none.
3. Wonder Woman
5. 🖐🏻 to you January Capricorn‘s or Aquarius‘s!
Starting off 2019 with the clunker - 742 pages. This one has been on my tbr for a while, but I‘ve been putting it off because of just how big it is and the fact I‘ve never read anything from either of these authors. With the excitement of starting a new Goodreads challenge comes the determination to knock off a tome like this right out of the gate!💪🏻
This sparkling thing was my last physical read of 2018. I‘ve read Midnights previously and loved it; thankfully I found it just as charming the second time around! Kindred Spirits was not what I expected, but was another delightful little treat!
So many treats to get this shot in front of her stocking. And then she sniffed and pawed at the last toy Santa brought her until I gave in and let her have it early (she‘s gotten all her presents early). I‘m such a softy when it comes to this pup! 🎄🐶♥️
