⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 for the series
So, fantasy is way out of my normal reading genre. This one took me a little to get into and some of it still had me scratching my head wondering "what in the world is going on here?" But I loved that murder mystery was involved so, that crossover made for a very interesting read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A dark rattler of a novel that sinks its fangs in and doesn't let go. The commentary on power and privilege is fierce, the characters are unrelenting and real, and the magic seems just out of reach...
This was my second read of this book, but the first time via audio! My #BOTM box finally came this week, and now I‘m ready to dive right into Hell Bent! 🎧
A solid 3.75 read. I‘m a bit behind on reviews for my blog, so when I finally catch up, it‘ll be at https://www.rainyreader.com/single-post/ninth-house.

“By the time Alex managed to get the blood out of her good wool coat, it was too warm to wear it.”
What a first line! 🤣 Excited to dig into this one as my next read of 2023. I have the Barnes & Noble edition of Hell Bent waiting in the wings.
I read Ninth House on a whim to broaden my horizons bookwise. It's not bad, though definitely not something I am used to and able to get into BUT I will soldier on and give the second book a chance!
This was my first Bardugo. I borrowed Six of Crows from my nephew but haven't been able to commit, so I decided to try her first adult novel. I really enjoyed the story and already have the sequel queued up on my e-reader.
I saw this classified as Dark Academia. Any recommendations on others in this genre?
2022 was an excellent year of reading! Ninth House was my favorite of the year. #2022reading #goodreads
How is everyone's first day of 2023 going? 😊💕📚 I hope you've been able to relax and read a bit! I've been reading today with my favorite bookish buddy. 😻 I also decided that I needed to reread this fantastic book before the next one in the series, Hell Bent, comes out next week! #catsoflitsy #chaplin
Happy #botm day! Excited for this box as the weather in January is looking bleak and I just want to cozy up with some good books!
That‘s a wrap on #Booked2022
After Francesco was the favorite of the bunch and Ariadne was good but not as good as other retellings. Looking forward to 2023 prompts.
I didn't expect to like this one. Most hyped books don't end up working for me. But this one has me! I am so glad I waited to read it until the sequel was right around the corner! While Alex was tough to like as a character, I thought Bardugo balanced her nicely with Dawes & Darlington. It's graphic & gritty & has all the dark academia vibes. I loved it so much that I had my daughter read it & then pre-ordered two copies of Hell Bent. ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
What even was this? The first 100 pages were really slow then it picked up pace and was a lot more going on to a frantic end. Plot synopsis - magic alive and well and embedded in secret societies at Yale with them being sort of policed by the ninth house. Alex (a difficult to know protagonist) has been selected because she can see ghosts and is thrown into a murder and mystery. Yup kind of trashy but kind of fun! #booked22 dark academia

Want to play @BookLineNSinker @Lauranahe
My main issue with this book was the pacing. The back and forth timeline slowed it down a lot, plus all of the filler. The last 50 pages were where most of the action was. I would have liked it better if it was shorter. The plot was intriguing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It took me 3 years after purchase to finally struggle through this. It took me a while to get a grasp on the plot, the setting and all the different characters, but it got better in the end.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️,5/5

Having finished all of Bardugo‘s Grishaverse books, I wanted to check this one out too. Written for an adult audience, it casts a look at the secret societies of Yale with a fantastical twist. It was the perfect book to get me in the mood for the fall season and as a resident of CT, I found the historical background on New Haven to be interesting. I will never visit there again without thinking of this book and being a little creeped out tbh!
Fall is the perfect time to break out a good fantasy book and curl up on the couch. The days are getting shorter and there‘s a chill in the air. So here are a few fall fantasy reads that should satisfy my fellow mood readers.

5/5 ⭐️ I'm so happy this was a pick for our #LMPBC Group! It's perfect for spooky season! 👻
Sorry im a little behind on sending it out but im dropping it off at the post office tomorrow!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 The beautiful heart of this novel woven through the magic, mystery, & blood is the relationships of women. At first Alex seems wholly isolated, but as the novel develops the power of her female relationships is intense and connective. She lives for those women, and I love seeing each step up for her as well. Of course there is the mystery of Darlington, but Tara‘s justice is just as valued. I am sequel ready! #LMPBC Group B #BOTM
Finishing the last bit of Ninth House on the MV Aurora. Dillon and I are headed to Cordova for an Alaskana honeymoon. I‘ll be posting the book tomorrow from the Cordova PO. I am in love with this book Btw, definitely not ready for it to end. #magic #alaska #readingonthewater #honeymoon #LMPBC Group B @Catsandbooks @Kdgordon88 @HufflepuffGirl90

I hereby MUST double, triple, QUADRUPLE check books before reading bc I am tired of these cliffhangers, y‘all!!! This flew by and now I have to wait till Jan for the next book. Rude
First month‘s pick that hasn‘t been an lmpbc book! Now if only we can get that sequel from Leigh Bardugo…
Not as awesome as Six of Crows or Shadow and Bone, but I still really enjoyed this. Alex is recruited into a group that monitors the secret societies of Yale, all of which work a specific type of magic. There‘s murder, some fun twists, an ending I kind of saw coming but not really…I need Leigh Bardugo to finish this series!
So many good parts, but also many parts that were confusing. The magic and genre blending in this novel was novel and so it is a pick. Not sure I‘m up for the sequel. How about you?
This one really sucked me in! Not so great during the last dash before finals, but part of doing well is keeping the brain happy.
Reading in between taking cracks at my final paper for Soc class. Beautiful day!
FINALLY!!! Some good news for Ninth House fans! 😊
I loved this novel set on the #campus of Yale. Released 2 & a half years ago I am eagerly awaiting Bardugo's follow-up to this work that cleverly blended murder mystery, fantasy & horror. It really shouldn't have worked, but it did! #savvysettings @alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @eggs
February 2022 #bookreport! Several graphic novels this month, and Saga is a re-read that I am super enjoying!

@ShyBookOwl
A very dark and twisty mystery. I‘m not really familiar with New Haven, so no recognizable notes for me, Bardugo did a very good job of painting a picture of it, good and bad. Complex characters with lots of baddies, lies and half-truths, and enough magic to keep things interesting without getting crazy. I found it a fast-paced read with lots of surprises.
@Hazel2019 your books arrived today. Thank you very much😘😘😍❤
I sent you something back via Book Depository.

It took me a while to get into this book in comparison to my usual books. I was drawn in by the cover & author but honestly, I‘m glad I stuck around.
Pretty heavy content for any age so at certain parts I was trying to get through hearing what was happening in the specific scene.
I read along with an audiobook and it got me through it. Excited to potentially see a series coming from this one! 🐍 #ninthhouse #leighbardugo #audible
