My book haul from today! 📚💕 #bookhaul
3½✨
It's been a while since I read King. But this compilation of stories made me remember why I like his work so much. From one extreme to the next, he keeps surprising me in the most unexpected ways.
N, Mute and The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates were my favourites.
While probably the weakest collection of King's short works I've yet read, it remains a collection of King's short works, which is to say an absolute delight. I hope his next collection reverses the downward trend, but either way, I'll surely be happy to read it. Standouts include Willa, The Gingerbread Girl, The Things They Left Behind, N., The Cat from Hell, and Mute. 4/5
King is so good at writing short stories, and these delivered. I know most people seem the like N. the best, but I really enjoyed Willa and The Gingerbread Girl. The first gave me lots of feels, the latter was non-stop adrenaline. But all were so good! And In A Tight Space….what a way to end a collection. 😳
During today‘s #ScarathlonSprint I read for 1 hour and 46 minutes.
First I read a cool ghost story called Willa from Just After Sunset.
Then I read some Project Hail Mary which is vg so far.
I hope your sprints went well Team #BOOkLovers!
Thank you for the tag @Bookwormjillk !

🧡 Todays #PhotoChallenge prompt is #Orange.
📙 I keep going back and forth between reading Just After Sunset or Bazaar of Bad Dreams this month. Both are short story collections. Both would count toward my monthly challenge. Help me out Constant Readers.
🎃 Also I finished decorating/cleaning today! #HalloweenBucketlist

Dare I say it, but I'm not a Stephen King fan. I've tried 3 of his books & didn't like any of them.

Harvey‘s Dream. Story 3. Read by Stephen King. Not a great narration, but interesting to hear it as if it were coming directly from his brain. The story was a simple but foreboding morning coffee conversation between an old married couple. A simple real life vignette, if your real life is created in Stephen Kings brain. Four stars.
A book of Stephen King stories to prepare for Halloween. Each story read by different narrators. The second, called The Gingerbread Girl, starts when a woman out for her morning run sees blond hair hanging from a car trunk and just has to take a look, and is predictably abducted by the killer. What follows is her harrowing experience at the hands of the man. A truely scary “curiosity and the cat” tale. A little over an hour listening time.
Yay, finished Just After Sunset, missed the #losersclub date by quite a bit 🤣. I‘m not a big short story fan, but this is The King, so I enjoyed it. My absolute favorite was N. It was wonderfully, stressful because I could see myself easily slipping down that rabbit hole. In the author‘s note he mentioned “The Great God Pan” as inspo. This is a book I recently heard about but decided not to add to my TBR. Of course now I have to read it.
“N” is the highlight of this collection, but there is a great selection of other stories here, too — ranging from literary to terrifying.
So.. maybe trust the paranoid voice in your head asking if you left the oven on. Came home from work today and my oven had been on all day 😩 Of course the first thing I thought of was this passage in the notes from Just After Sunset. Damn you Stephen 😂
Squeezing in the last #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash activities I did but forgot to post. Finished these buddy reads. I have great intentions with buddy reads but I rarely finish on time with the group(s) sorry 😆 Completed Just After Sunset (last 5 stories) I think reading the notes at the end was my favorite part. I haven‘t read much King other then his On Writing memoir, 4 Past Midnight, and This Collection. ⬇️
Welcome to the #LosersClub open discussion for #justaftersunset
Please be mindful of spoilers. We have new readers to King who haven‘t read all of his books. When referencing his other work, please keep this in mind for our new-to-King friends. Don‘t forget to tag each other in the comments so your friends can see your reply. Have fun!

Playing catch up from the weekend. I think week 2 was more heavy on watching 📺 than reading. I finally finished watching Carmilla after having read it in September. I also finished Harvey‘s Dream, Rest Stop, Stationary Bike, The Things They Left Behind, Graduation Afternoon, and N. From Just Before Sunset. N has to be my favorite so far. 202 words for #ScarathlonWordSearch
Bottom 3 still in progress but added 2 more hours of reading time. ⬇️
Finished Just After Sunset 🌆
I stopped by Savers because I feel like I saw next month‘s #LosersClub reading (Under The Dome) there at one point (and I wanted to get some fall staples). Wasn‘t there but did find Christine. Beat up, but I love the old covers.
This was a Short story collection, so plenty of points for #Scarathlon2022

I finished a few more stories out of this one today.
Most have been good so far, but there was one in particular…. 🤨 reminded me of the joke on Family Guy (“for my 307th book, a scary lamp monster OOooOoOo”) Can‘t wait to hear #LosersClub ‘s thoughts on this collection.

#audiobaking to this months #losersclub selection. Peach pie 🥧 to use up probably the last of the season. Got through the first 2 stories between this, dying my hair and doing laundry. 🚂🍻, 🏃🏻♀️🔪🪑
#losersclub @BarkingMadRun I have the same cover. Very much enjoying the book so far outside this afternoon 🍁
Reading this again for #losersclub. It‘s been so long since I read it but I still love it! I love SK‘s short stories. And medium stories. Etc.

What an excellent collection of short stories! King's genius and diversity is shown in this collection. There's something for everyone.
My favorite in the collection is The Cat from Hell. 🐱

I don't remember why I bought this issue of Playboy (maybe it was just for this story), but I cut out the story a while back and finally dug it out to read. Pictured is the original art from the issue. Cool story, a lot of curious moments that make you wonder.

Interesting book of short stories!
I am by no means a poet but my local library is running a #cplbookspinepoetry contest, so I thought I'd give it a try. This is my love poem from my crime/thriller, horror and true crime books I have on my shelves! 😄🖤
I usually don't enjoy short stories, because I tend to forget them rather fast. It's going to be the same here, but since it's Stephen King I still had a lot of fun reading this book 📙 📖
#24b4Monday @Clwojick @jb72 @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid
Good morning reading time after a Good morning run 💪 Also, I totally lost track of counting my reading time for the #24b4Monday Readathon. Gueds my reading habits aren't made for these challenges... 😅
But I'm still reading 📖

New foster kitten! He follows me everywhere and purrs nonstop.
Tonight we‘re enjoying some Stephen King short stories. He‘s partial to “The Cat from Hell”.

I'm really behind on #sisforseptember but it's been chaos at work and busy when I get off. Anywho, here's a dump post to catch up. #sunset is on my tbr but haven't read yet. #smile is by one of my daughter's favorite authors. Her books are pretty cute. #secret is the one and only Mr. Potter! And I had to do some leg work for #sold but this is the closest I could find in relation to a book I've actually read or even heard of.
@CaliforniaCay
I couldn‘t stop reading Sharp Objects, though I guessed at the outcome from early on.
Now, I don‘t know what to read so I finally picked up this one. I‘ve already taken the dust jacket off. I don‘t know why, but reading books with dust jackets stresses me out.
#KingAtoZ #n #o N. is the name of a novella in Just After Sunset where someone sees this rock formation and is convinced the rocks plus their OCD habits which they call rituals are the only thing holding back inter dimensional monsters from breaking through to our world. This one gave me the heebie jeebies.
H is for Harvey‘s Dream (Late post)
This on is a short story that was first published in The New Yorker, it was later included in Just After Sunset.

Another great read by my favorite author. I don‘t always like short stories, but these seemed to hit the spot this weekend. “N” has a Stranger Things vibe to it. I love how King puts notes at the end about where the stories came from. I think this is my last book for 2017!
Please, oh please help me through my Stranger Things withdrawl.... #StephenKing don't let me down!
