peaknit I have not read much of the Dark Tower series. Is this Feb book stand alone or should i be reading others first in your opinion? Thanks!! 1w
BarkingMadRead @peaknit technically it‘s considered to be 4.5 in the series, if you‘ve read the first few you‘d be fine 1w
Bklover I haven‘t read dark tower series so I will skip this month. But I‘ll be back! 1w
BarkingMadRead @Bklover see you in March for Joyland, it‘s a nice, short one! 1w
Bklover I love Joyland!!! 1w
peaknit I love Joyland also, I listened on audio and the narrator is great! 1w
Reading.w.Dee I have only read the first Dark Tower, so will skip this one also! I am buddy reading Fairy Tale instead for February! 5d
BarkingMadRead @Reading.w.Dee enjoy!!! 5d

Roary47 I really enjoyed this one from King. The book was a chuckster, but it was so fun to read I didn‘t really notice or mind. Normally, I don‘t like time jumping, but King made it manageable so I wasn‘t lost. Yes, he was mostly in the past which helped. I‘m happy with the conclusion as well. I was trying to figure out how the yellow/black card man was connected and that supernatural element made the most sense. 1w
BookwormAHN I also really enjoyed this one. I thought the yellow card men were fascinating. I hope they pop up again in a future book 🤞🏻 Also I loved the scenes with Bev and Ritchie. It was one of my favorites. 1w
BarkingMadRead @BookwormAHN yes! I loved that glimpse of Bev and Richie “mid story” for them! 1w
KathyWheeler @BookwormAHN I hope the yellow card men appear in a future book as well. This is one of my favorite King books. I think he handles the time jumps really well. 1w
bthegood This is one of my favorite King novels - I love that he incorporates characters from other stories (including the town of Derry) but if you didn't read the other stories it didn't take away from this one. I like that he looks deeper than the “butterfly effect“ - he examines the what ifs of falling in love in the past, and wanting to stay with someone (or bring them back with you) - (edited) 1w
5feet.of.fury Loved it! I‘m not the biggest history buff so I am super curious as to how much research was done to the different theories. it‘s such a good story. I loved Sadie and all they went through together. 1w
Erinsuereads This is the first king I ever read! 🙌🙌 And still one of my favorites 😍 I like to recommend this one to people who are king-curious and almost always ita a hit 1w
Reading.w.Dee I second how he creates whole worlds and connects them within each other. I definitely enjoyed that in this one! And I agree, the Yellow Card Man had me extremely curious! There are so many layers to his novels that, even thought it was long, it kept you enthralled the whole time! Thank you for motivating me to read this one! 5d

Erinsuereads A good marriage is one of my all time favorite short stories. 1922 crept into my dreams. I suppose that is what he wants 🤣🤣 1mo
Bklover @ErinSueMreads I agree completely about A Good Marriage. I love that story. That one and The Mist (from Skeleton Crew) are my favorites! 1922 is a good one too. 1mo
bthegood @Bklover @ErinSueMreads same here - 1922 and A Good Marriage my two favorites in this collection - the other two were so/so for me - love The Mist (with book ending not movie ending) and I loved the short story The Reach (my favorite) also from Skeleton Crew I believe. 1mo
BarkingMadRead @ErinSueMreads @Bklover @bthegood yes! A Good Marriage and 1922 are definitely my faves and I love the Mist! The ending of the movie irritated me lol 1mo
Erinsuereads I haven't actually watched the movie! But the mist is so spooky! I love that one too. The not knowing is really grade A terror in that one! @BarkingMadRead @Bklover @bthegood 1mo
Bklover @BarkingMadRead I hated the ending of The Mist movie too. @bthegood 1mo

Erinsuereads This is one of my very favorites. I believe it was the second king I read. I have always thought it has some of the best character writing and absolutely one of the best openings I've ever read. 2mo
BarkingMadRead @ErinSueMreads this is definitely a top 10 for me, reminds me a lot of the Stand 2mo
Erinsuereads Yes I agree! The narrative pacing and the "dark levels" have the same vibe! 2mo
5feet.of.fury @ErinSueMreads I agree. So many different perspectives and individual motivations. Old, young, selfish, nurturing, honest, egomaniacal, Kids, teens, adults, elderly, Horace the Corgi. Everyone gets a chapter. It‘s really impressive. 2mo
Karkar I forgot how much blood was at the beginning. I agree with you all - this is one of my favorites 2mo
Bklover Still haven‘t finished it but it‘s a reread and I love this one! And I agree completely with @ErinSueMreads ! 2mo
Erinsuereads Oh @5feet.of.fury Horace the corgi is legit 🤣🤣🤣 2mo
Erinsuereads @karkar yesssss! But it's all so well used! Like it's horrible but man does it set the scene 2mo
5feet.of.fury @ErinSueMreads Horace chapters were my favorite! It was really good. I was shocked by how straightforward and easy to follow it was with all the POVs. 2mo
