Cujo was the last book read in October and here is my October wrap up overall. Cujo definitely unlocked a new fear in me especially with rabies cases on the rise in my county and so many who don‘t follow leash laws. I definitely could have made bingo this month but it was nice to be busy with fun things like a concert and Halloween and meeting new people. Not no but hell no. Yikes on bikes. I would have DNFd at about 50% but this was a book club book and I wanted to be able to discuss all the awful 😂 Luckily everyone pretty unanimously hated this one. The premise had potential but this was terrible. It‘s been marketed as dark gothic romance but this is not romance nor did it really feel like horror. It was like a mish mash of tropes and hoping for the best. 😬 #HauntedShelf #GrimReaders ⬇️

Some of you might remember I posted about a local bookclub that was just getting started in SA.. well this was our first book. Post Stolen from IG from one of the other ladies in our book club who makes book themed cocktails. I loved this story that is set in the world of the Ruinous Love trilogy. If you read Butcher and Blackbird, the FMC in this book was a minor character. This book is the start of a trilogy all focused on the same couple. ⬇️

So cute. Zeb is nervous about befriending a brain he names Brian because brains are food not pets. This one reminded me of a Brian I used to work with whose name was mistyped as Brain on the schedule once. This was the first book I read this month. Libby is an actress trying to hide from the limelight and rumors about her at Mohegan Island, a solace of her childhood. Weird things start happening to her and her single dad grump neighbor steps in to get to the bottom of things. ⬇️

Last book I read in September would be a fitting #HauntedShelf rec although not in the traditional spooky season sense.

The darkness drops again! There is quite a bit of humor in this book about Gerald whose consciousness gets trapped inside of Slack leaving his body behind. I think the format of this book solely in the form of Slack chats lends itself to a lighter mood, but this really is a horror book. ⬇️

Going to try to sprint the last week of this month to get my reading rhythm back.

Super late getting my #BookSpinBingo August wrap up posted since I finally unpacked my printer. Only read 2 books because moving took most of my energy and focus but both of these were great. The tagged book will surely make you feel great about your failed relationships too 😂 This is also proof that DNFs are not always forever. I came back to this book 4 years after shelving it in “library purgatory”.

So yesterday I went to donate platelets (my first time) and I overheard this lady raving about this book to her friend. I wanted to piggyback on their conversation so bad but I didn‘t want to be a creep 😅 Anyways I think I am moving this one up my TBR I‘ve had it on there forever. Saw the adaptation on Monday. If you‘ve read the book I highly recommend not googling anything and going in blind so you can be surprised by the movie ending. Enjoyed is probably not the right word but I think this adaptation was really well done.

No I haven‘t fallen off the face of the earth I‘ve just been moving… still 🥴 But I finally got to listen to this cast audio version of Angels in America which was fantastic. I see a subscription to National Theater at Home in my future. Maybe a reward for when this moving nonsense is behind me. 🙃
