A perfectly creepy story about two sisters who find a doll‘s head in the woods. By the time they realize how powerful the doll is, it just might be too late.
The story is creepy and quick. Perfect for middle-grade readers! The author, Jody Lee Mott did a fantastic virtual visit with our students!!

Every school library should own this book! I recommend for 4th grade & up. The powerful story is based on Mohamed‘s real-life childhood growing up in a refugee camp. It tackles some seriously tough topics but the graphic novel format makes it more approachable. Reading & discussing as a class is optimal to help students understand the subject. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I LOVE fractured fairy tales. And this one is no exception. It was fun to see how the responsibilities of being queen changed Ariel; and five years after Ursula won the final battle that isn‘t the only change. What a great book - I loved it!! I can‘t wait to read the rest of the series!!

Thanks again to @kstadt929 for this amazing book - great choice! And thanks to @TheBookKeepers for all the fun of #justabookswap

Takes place sometime after Aliens on an isolated scientific research station where Weyland-Yuntani managed to store some eggs from the Xenomorphs. I listened to the audio and enjoyed it but it follows the typical formula of the Alien stories. So, nothing new but it is well-written and creepy as hell. Worth a listen if you‘re a fan.

Fabulous early chapter book (part of a series). Diverse, smart female lead character. Zoey uses the scientific method to figure out how to help the sick magical animals who come to her barn. There‘s a glossary at the end too.

This is the book that King himself has called his scariest. Perhaps because it centers on a fear most people share - death. And it shows how far a person might go to cheat death.

The plot was slow at times but was intrigued enough to keep reading as I tried to figure out who the killer was. The story is well-written and seems realistic except for the fact that a teenage girl is the only one clever enough to figure out the evidence. But I do get it. Kate is the intrepid sleuth (ala Nancy Drew).
Recommended to YA mystery fans.

I love the way the tension builds slowly - we know something bad happened in the past, but what? We also know that something even more terrible is coming. The claustrophobia builds as the blizzard traps the characters and closes the town off from the outside world.
I had to go back and re-read the prologue because it didn‘t make much sense until I understood more of the story.
Highly recommended to fans of the supernatural.

sixgun I read his collaboration with Stephen King, The Talisman, when it first came out and I struggled a bit with it. I'd like to see if something he wrote solely would flow more smoothly. 5y

Overall good book by one of my favorite authors but not especially scary. I enjoyed the character development during the first part of the book more than the ending. I cared for Jamie and wanted to see things work out for him but I spent a lot of time waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The audio was very well done.

Four short stories. I enjoyed the 1st about a Polaroid camera that steals memories and the 4th about deadly rain of crystal nails. The other two were a bit disappointing. The second about a mall shooting with a terrible ending and the third about a guy stuck on a cloud which was quirky with an annoying main character.

This starts out a bit slow but really picks up when the flashbacks begin. I knew who the authors wanted me to think was the killer and who I wanted the killer to be, but I didn‘t know the truth until the very end. Basically this is a twisty, scary, serial killer book.

According to the Amazon page, this book was inspired by Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None. I never read that book though I probably should.

Rain‘s life is spinning out of control and now her nightmares are coming to life. This one is a bit of a slow burn, but totally worth it. I was surprised by some of the twists and the ending. This a bit different from Maberry‘s YA books but good in its own right. I especially love Monk, a cross between a private detective and paranormal vigilante.
