I‘m excited about this! The only thing I know about this book is from what I heard from my Litsy friends, so im more or less going in blind (I hate that it has that Netflix sticker on the cover 😡)

I wasn't sure this book was for me at first. It dragged in the beginning, but I flew through the second half. It's dark and a little twisted, and you will question your loyalties more than once. I'm definitely interested to check out more from Daphne du Maurier.
#authoramonth As much as I read I was a little shocked to realize I haven‘t read Rebecca. I‘ve seen the original movie many times, none of the remakes.
Since there is a new remake, the library has a waitlist.
A good excuse to mask up & give my local used bookstore some business! I‘m glad the owner knows some people love the old hardcovers just cuz.Not sure if I will get to The Parasites this month but couldn‘t resist.
PART 2
@sprainedbrain Jenni....thank you somuch for your generous, fabulous gifts. And thank you for making this a mystery box as I am not hugely into fairy tale retellings. Aside from the great books....I love the socks, that mug (big for my hot chocolate!), candy ❤️, coffee, gorgeous bookmark. I loved this swap. Thank you again and again. 😘 HAPPY VALENTINE‘S DAY!

#twofortuesday Thanks @TheSpineView for the tag!
1. Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca
2. Plot. If the plot‘s boring or poorly written or bears some other fatal flaw, I can‘t read the book no matter how awesome the characters.
@freeatlast1137 ?
I‘ve always loved the 1940 Hitchcock adaptation of Rebecca. I watched the new one a few weeks ago and it was just okay imo. I don‘t know why it‘s taken me so long to read this book, but I‘m so glad I finally did! It‘s so well-written and I had a hard time putting it down, even though I knew about all the plot twists. I read it slowly over the last couple of weeks and now I have a book hangover! 5⭐️

Of course, Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier was my favorite of all! 😆💛 🎉🙌🏽
Tagging a few Littens and anyone else who wants to participate!☺️
Finally off the TBR list! Yay. Thoroughly enjoyable British Gothic novel. Why was the main character unnamed? Oh because Dame Daphne couldn‘t think of a good one. So don‘t analyze that bit too much.
Agree or disagree?

I‘ve just watched the new Netflix‘s adaptation - loved it and think I‘m reading to dive right back to Hitchcock and of course the book!

Guess what book my son‘s going to be reading in his freshman pre-AP English class? Can you say it with me? Yaaaaay! This was my favorite and first adult novel I read when I was in late elementary school. I hate this cover. It doesn‘t compare to the beloved copy I borrowed endlessly from the Round Rock Public Library. But...guess who will be reading it with her son! I‘m sharing The Black Rose with him now, and soon this one! ❤️❤️❤️
Rebecca was my favorite book from when I first read it, probably around 5th-6th grade until The Stand came out my junior year in high school. Yes I date my school years by the books I read, don‘t you?
Anyway, this will be a don‘t-miss movie!!

My library is doing curbside pickup. Yesterday, someone in the library doodled this on the bag with my books in it 💛☀️
I was just BLOWN away.♥️😃 The story was so intriguing from the first legendary sentence all the way to that incredible ending! Masterpiece is 100% correct. Each character was so vivid/distinctive. And her writing is so beautiful/descriptive. This is easily one of my fave books I‘ve ever read. Thanks for buying me this beautiful edition @Wife and thanks to both Vickie and jenni @sprainedbrain for encouraging me to finish this one! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5
Before starting it I knew very little about the plot which, I believe, made me enjoy this a lot more. Even though I predicted a few things, I still loved the writing style and I particularly liked the descriptions of Manderley, which I percieved as a character on its own. Also, beware of unhealthy relationships!
#doublespin @TheAromaofBooks 📚📚🌳🌿
I started reading my #doublespin a few days ago, and though I really like the narration, I'm making very little progress. This whole situation is starting to take a toll on my concetration abilities. I hope you Littens are doing well. Stay home, stay safe. 💕💕💕
if I abandoned #ReadingEurope2020 today it would remain a success for me because i was enticed to finally read this book. It‘s so good!! I hadn‘t known of Manderley before, but I will often think of it again.
Rebecca was my favorite childhood read. Once I discovered it, I checked it out over and over so I could read it again and again. #favoritechildhoodbook #wintergames #tmskellington @crimson613 @clwojick @staycurious
Today‘s Question
Which book when you finally read it, after it sitting on your TBR for years, did you say to yourself I wish I‘d read this sooner!
#WhyDidIWait #KeepLitsyActive
I‘ve found a new favourite book! Why didn‘t I read this book many years ago, a really special book that surprised me at so many points in the book. If you haven‘t read it I fully recommend it to you. Mrs Danvers is quite some character - what a horrible woman. Couldn‘t put this down and just read on and on and on. Just regret having finished it so quickly. Off to find more books by Daphne Du Maurier. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
Not at all what I expected. I thought it would be creepier - that Rebecca would haunt the place more, maybe even be secretly living in the west wing. So I was therefore more surprised by the twist than I normally would be.
Now that I‘ve finished it and can look at what it is rather than what I thought it would be, I can appreciate the reflections of Jane Eyre and the duality of the Mrs de Winters. Looking forward to discussing with my book club.
When I think of haunted I think of the first line of Rebecca.
“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.”
Sometimes we‘re haunted by ghosts, and sometimes we‘re haunted by memories.
Now I want to read this book again. I wonder if there‘s any way I can fit it in this month?

Totally spent after the wild ride Daphne du Maurier‘s Rebecca took me on. After a slower-paced yet meticulously crafted first half, the second half was twist after turn, with grim revelations and suspense-filled moments that took me in directions I didn‘t expect. I can see why it‘s a favourite of so many, and it absolutely lived up to my high hopes after reading and loving My Cousin Rachel.

Hey @Quirkybookworm @8little_paws @Novelista71 if you‘ve not been tagged yet and are game, will you post a cover each day for seven days with no explanation?
This was a slow burn, and I'm glad I started with the audiobook and switched to print around chapter 16 (.../when I couldn't renew my Libby loan). So many reactions! So many things to discuss!
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

Dinosaurs in the Attic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This book was so good! I plan to have a full review of it up by the end of the week on my blog but definitely a pick!! #newtsreadathon2019 #classic
“Rebecca, always Rebecca. I should never be rid of Rebecca”, laments the young second Mrs de Winter, timid and naive, who is in fear of the housekeeper. Nothing is at it seems in this novel of love and suspense. Loved it.
#augustabc #innocence
Spooky and DEEPLY atmospheric. It has a strong cinematic air and I think I‘ll check out the Hitchcock adaptation soon. A good read for fall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 27/30 for #BFCR2
I couldn‘t stand the narrator for the first half of the book. Kept having to set the book down and walk away because I was sick of spending time with her and her “woe is me, I‘m so pitiful and inferior, wah wah” attitude. The second half bumped it from a pan to so-so. Definitely very atmospheric, and I did like Manderley. Mrs. Danvers was creepy, but I didn‘t hate her. Maybe because I get so immersed in books, it was too unpleasant for me.

(Day 4 - #CastleOnTheHill)
*I always think of Manderley when I think of castles....
I was on edge the entire book waiting as our narrator learns the secrets of Maxim, Rebecca, and Manderley. The constant sense of apprehension felt by the narrator is also felt by the reader. I did skim some of the lengthier descriptions bc I needed to know how it would resolve. The scenes with Mrs. Danvers in particular will continue to haunt me. Manderely and what goes on within its walls will stay with me. #wonderwall #anglophileapril
French toast soaking, fresh coffee, and the tagged book. I‘ve wanted to read it forever. So much foreboding at Manderely.
Thanks for the tag @Eggs 🌸💕
