I‘ve switched over to the audiobook which I found for “free” with our Spotify subscription in hopes of finishing this one. 😰 #authoramonth @Soubhiville

IriDas Oh my gosh. It‘s free on Apple Music too. I had no idea until your post that there were audio books there. Thanks for mentioning it. 😊 2d

Pickpick

This was my first Virginia Woolf book and I liked it. Though this was published in 1929, I feel that much of Woolf's arguments are true today. She described women in fiction, such as writers and women mentioned in literature. Woolf pretty much uses various examples as to why women need money and a room of their own in order to write.

I tried so hard to read this. I‘d make it about 5 pages before sleep would take me. I know she‘s working towards a specific point but it‘s hard to see in the overly descriptive retelling of her day.

StaceGhost I dislike this essay and don‘t think you‘re missing much hahaha it makes people in my lit program mad when I say that but I‘m with you 5d

We have reached the end of July #AuthorAMonth readers! With a sigh of relief we can all set aside Virginia Woolf and reach towards our August author, Judy Blume. Quite a change of pace!

#Read2025

Finished for June‘s #AuthorAMonth & #FictionalTraveler #Water
Thanks to @Soubhiville I read it on SerialReader which I think helped me with its short sections. It has some beautiful writing but not enough plot & too much stream-of-consciousness for me & was hard to keep track of. I got behind in A Room of One‘s Own on SerialReader & I may try to finish it tonight but I don‘t know that I will read more Woolf unless pushed to do so. 😉

julieclair Your comment about not reading more Wolfe unless pushed to do so totally resonated with me. 🎯 5d

Want to learn to write believable characters? This essay suggests what to do and what not to do as she describes the comings and goings of an imaginary Mrs. Brown. Real-life critic Mr. Bennett disliked Woolf‘s characters—as not being real enough, so this essay thoroughly takes him to task.
