Book #2 from #Auldlangspine
I didn‘t love this one nearly as much as my original auldlangspine pick.. The dual storylines felt a bit forced and I didn‘t like ANY of the characters. Maybe it was the fact that this is definitely not a favorite genre for me. I guess I was pulled in by the fact that it was about books 😕

HOTPock3tt Although this one wasn‘t the book for me, there lots of other books from @mcipher amazing list that I plan on trying as soon as I get my hands on them from the library!! 😎 3mo
monalyisha Good attitude! Fun cover, too. Bummer! 3mo

Lots of revelations, just like you would expect. Some things I suspected were confirmed. I wish there was a bit more about Megan… but for those of us who are married interracially this hits close to home. More so than marriage, he covered a lot of events in his life.

I literally have to pick my jaw up off of the FLOOR 😱this book was AMAZING. Intricate plot, interesting characters… I can‘t say anything about the plot because I don‘t want to spoil it, lots of twists and turns. This is one of the best books I‘ve read in a long time. #NewYearWhoDis from @Clare-Dragonfly list
A world where demons exists closely with humans. I think what didn‘t sit well with me is the main character had shades of frozen‘s Elsa and there were a few beauty and the beast references. I adore those stories! But wanted a bit more originality I guess 😕 although I was surprised at the villain reveal. It was ok! Maybe just not as memorable for me.

HOTPock3tt I wanted more romance between the MC‘s especially more bisexual girl power/interaction!! I know that wasn‘t really the focus, but I wish we could have more of it in these mainstream books 1y

#NewYearWhoDis list by @Clare-Dragonfly !!
I‘ve already read(and adored!) Red White and Royal blue… so I‘ll start with Girl, Serpent, Thorn! ♥️ And try out Piranesi which seems to be on a lot of peoples‘ fave list. Also I must‘ve looked up winterkeep a million times. Every time I see the cover it reminds me I need to stop borrowing Graceling from the library and actually read it. Maybe it‘ll happen this year 😇

magyklyXdelish Girl serpent thorn is one of my faves I‘ve read this year, by far! And Piranesi was strange but wonderful and that one I say go in as blind as you can ♥️ 2y
magyklyXdelish Also Burn Our Bodies Down I lived as well!! Wonderful list!! 2y
Clare-Dragonfly I agree with everything @magyklyXdelish said! 😁 And yes, definitely read Graceling, Fire, and Bitterblue before Winterkeep. They‘re all so good! Also if you want to read Burn Our Bodies down but are concerned about any triggers, let me know and I can help you out with that. 2y

🤔I loved the beginning and that ending! The world building was EFFORTLESS!! But the middle was QUITE slow😖I felt like the whole book happened in the last few chapters. I adored the MC‘s and their friends but I wish we got to spend more time with them instead of just the end. A few 🔥 scenes! and I want more of these characters! I wanted bit more of EVERYTHING from this book I guess😕If only there was a book 2!

When I tell you, the setting of this book in Ghana was giving me LIFE!! The setting + the amazing female MC made this book special. The MC was fun and strong and so relatable. I just don‘t know how to FEEL right now!😍🎉😭😱 This one single book had a SAGA feel to it as it chronicles the life of the MC and life in general in depression era America. Although I agree 100% @Cinfhen it‘s definitely a #BorrowNotBuy

I read this for my first ever #LMPBC. #GroupS This one really surprised me! Steeped in lots of traditional myths with very intriguing characters... The story hooks you in at the beginning. Unfortunately there is a really slow part in the middle but the ending really defined the book! I‘d say this was one of the more memorable books I‘ve read this year. It‘ll be on its way to you @sprainedbrain

This was suggested by my friend Laura (who is not on litsy) because she knows I‘m obsessed with the fae. I‘ve also heard it‘s one of Holly Blacks‘ fave series so I wanted to try it out. I‘m so glad I did! It was an addictive, very engaging and creative story! Lots of fun characters and faerie court drama (which I love) the storyline is a bit YA, but still keeps you engrossed. I will definitely continue with the rest of the series!

They‘re at it again! 😃 Veronica Speedwell and her sidekick Stoker, causing mischief and investigating murders in this cozy Victorian mystery. This was a solid entry into the series... not my fave but still a lot of fun 🙃 Also I think these are better in print than on audio. Don‘t want to give anything away... more in the comments section. 😆

HOTPock3tt Veronica and stoker had some sexy times in this one! And I love how he is such a romantic he goes around quoting Keats to her! I really hope she changes her mind about marriage and decides to marry him. Also hoping for some slightly more descriptive sexy times if there is another book! 😁 Excelsior!! 2y

I was sort of following the chapter/day, but had to finish up due to waay too many library books on my plate 😅 lol. Anyways I went into this one with ZERO expectations since I‘ve never heard much about this particular Austen. I enjoyed it! I didn‘t figure out the ending plot twist. This won‘t be among my faves of hers, but I enjoyed it all the same ☺️ #Pemberlittens

This was outside of my usual genre comfort zone, but I enjoyed it! It kept me turning the pages and wondering about the motivations of each character. The ending was fantastic and gave me a lot to think about. I would try more of her work... Although I would definitely #BorrowNotBuy for this one. It wont be on my faves of the year list or anything lol but it was entertaining ☺️

Well! Can I just say how much FUN it was to be back in this world again! 😃 I‘m not a fan of nesta, but the storyline was fast paced: Plus we got to spend time with all the other amazing characters! (nesta grows on you lol) Lots of 🔥🔥🔥 scenes!😍🙌🏽 but AVOID the audiobook. The narration is terrible! 😖 Overall this was a treat! pure entertainment. If SJM writes this series for the next 50 years I‘ll still keep reading it.☺️

I‘ve been a fan of Priyanka‘s since Andaaz (around 2003) many years before she became famous in America with Quantico. I liked hearing her antics growing up, the backstory of film/TV projects etc. I just feel like she held back and didn‘t reveal much in general. She didn‘t address the rumors about her relationship with (married) Akshay Kumar and no backstory on Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (my fave movie of hers) maybe because he was in it. 😕
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5

HOTPock3tt I get that India is a conservative country in general, and she was probably afraid to address anything controversial. And it‘s her choice what she talks about... but I felt like she held back so much that it made the story a bit bland 😶 still good... but lacked the punch. (edited) 2y
HOTPock3tt I‘m still so proud of her every time I mention her name here in America and people actually KNOW who I‘m talking about! ❤️ I‘m happy for the tremendous amount of success she has gained all around the world. And I‘m happy to have been on board throughout her journey into Bollywood films and Into American movies/TV. Can‘t wait to see her in Matrix 4! 💖😃 (edited) 2y

Although this was more of a slow burn for me... not a lot going on in the book in GENERAL really 🤔😂. I think this would‘ve been better in print vs audio... but the ending was OVERWHELMINGLY sweet! 😍

This was really hard for me to get into, partly because I‘m not really feeling YA that much at the moment... This seems to be the younger spectrum of the genre lol 😶I did love the MC Hazel and almost all of the characters! Storyline was a bit predictable with a too neat ending. I was kind of waiting for it to end 😅 I‘m obsessed with the fae, but I preferred the faeries in her “Cruel Prince” series. Definitely a ‘borrow don‘t buy‘.

Although I didn‘t enjoy this as much as “The Fifth Season trilogy” or “the city we became” it was still a solid pick. The storyline was quite intriguing, but slowed down towards the end. The huge battle and court politics I expected never really happened (maybe in subsequent books) but I liked the world building. Will continue with the series. #AuthorAMonth

Booknerd_76 I felt the same way. I love N.K.Jemisin. But didn't like this trilogy as much as the Broken Earth. Have you read the Dreamblood series yet? I have it but haven't read it. 2y
HOTPock3tt I love her too. Broken earth has become one of my fave series!! ❤️... I read the city we became and loved it, but I haven‘t read dreamblood either. It‘s probably next up on my list ☺️ @Booknerd_76 2y
HOTPock3tt @booknerd_76 did you read how long until black future month? I downloaded it but was a little hesitant since it‘s short stories...🤔 2y
Booknerd_76 @HOTPock3tt I haven't. I've considered it but I've been hesitant too. I did read Emergency Skin in the book of short stories called forward. It too is different than most of her other books but it was good to me too. She's one of my favorite authors right now 2y

This book just wasn‘t for me. It was a slog fest of heaped on overdone misery with no reprieve. I‘m shocked by the comparison to the AMAZING “Anxious People” By Fredrik Backman. The storyline of this book felt like a rip off of a classic movie (I‘ll name it in the comments) And the characters were all one dimensional. All of THAT for one or two good lines at end. It didn‘t feel worth it 😓

HOTPock3tt This was an indirect buddy read with @Wife otherwise I probably wouldn‘t have bothered to finish it. I tried another book by this author a few years ago “how to stop time” and didn‘t like it. Maybe his work just isn‘t for me. (edited) 2y

This was just fantastic. Right from the start I related to so much the author was saying. The way this author describes things about life I‘ve only just FELT and could never put into words. It‘s about so much more than the blurb tells you. I fell in love with these characters and their situations. It was so memorable for me. I laughed out loud SO many times and shed many a tear.
