This was messed up, terrifying really. I'm still scared and depressed. I read books to be happy and escape the real world but this book did the opposite. I'm full of mixed emotions. Overall I liked it but started losing interest about halfway through; it was just too long. An author must dig really deep to be able to write something as disturbing as Girl in Pieces. I'm retreating back into my safe bubble now, thank you. :(

The very first chapter had me near tears. This one will pull on your heart strings. The writing style and plot flow well, and the story is original. I would have liked more substance, more complicated drama to make the book longer. I wanted to feel that they were really pining for each other as pen pals, a more evolved, mature and necessary love. Overall, a very cute, unique contemporary story.

I didn't like this but I didn't hate it. I felt like the author was trying too hard. Overabundance of sarcasm and witty banter, sure, but lacking in growth and development of characters. The writing was mediocre, the story a plain and unmemorable fish swimming in the vast sea of contemporary.

DrexEdit Very appealing cover though! 6d

I liked this book A LOT more than I expected to. I thought it would be another run-of-the-mill contemporary romance, but I was wrong. It is so well written, relatable, and laugh out loud funny! It did drag at times with too much scene setting. The sex stuff caught me off guard as I did not expect it, and it didn't flow with the rest of the story's sweetness. I am impressed with the character development and how original they were.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? This was borderline torture. The writing was enjoyable but the story didn't make sense. There was a beginning, an end and a bunch of stuff in between that felt like filler fluff. I had DNFed this book in the past but recently bought a used copy because it was a pick for a book club. I don't often try to read a book I've DNFed because I usually regret trying again, as is the case with this mess of pages.

This book reminded me of the pressures and struggles of being a teenager. It's emotional, intense and passionate. I enjoyed the character of Kelsey. She was strong, smart, witty, intuitive and practical. I enjoyed reading her story, watching her grow and finally being able to admit that love is a risk worth fighting for. The pacing and flow of the story were done very well and the continuity of the writing style helped move the plot along.

I won this book through goodreads Firstreads a few years ago. I put it in a pile and found that pile a few weeks ago.

This was a quick, easy read. Not complex, thought provoking or memorable. It's probably good for the young-young adult audience. The writing and character development was very simple and the story line was mind numbingly easy to follow.

Not for me. The stuffy writing was pretentious. The transitions of time and character were confusing. I'm generously giving 2 out of 5 stars because the story had potential but was ruined by a disorganized execution.

I'm a big fan of Scream All Night so I had high hopes for Swipe Right for Murder and it surely did not disappoint. It's a wild ride full of mystery, thrills, self discovery, and action with a dash of romance and horror. Milman's writing style and plot pacing are phenomenal. It's very rare for a book to suck me in to the point that I forget everything else, as if the story is real. Everyone should read this bent, genre mashup. @kamoorephoto #ya

Started out solid, on it's way to being 5 stars. It has the same feel as the Raven Boys which I loved. The writing style is engaging. The plot and pacing began sputtering out and I lost interest about halfway through. I thought I would devour the Devouring Gray but I ended up lightly snacking on it. I feel in between a pick and a so so, but gave it 3 stars on GR.

Well written, but a confusing mess. There is a story within a story but the plot lacks direction. The characters are shallow, flat and unappealing. There are atmospheric details which do a great job of setting the scene but add no detail to the evolution of the story bordering purple prose. Quite disappointed and still very confused. I can't figure out what the point was. Gorgeous cover but that's the only thing appealing about this book.

Interesting and enjoyable enough that I kept reading but I wasn't immensely intrigued. Parts of it puttered out, and I couldn't tell what the point was or where the story was going. The nonlinear timeline and abrupt changes in point of view were disorienting. I liked the writing style, the characters, and the semi-predictable twist, but the story lacked passion overall.

Definitely an original, entertaining and mysterious story. I liked the character development and atmosphere but I always struggle with first person point of view. Well, this was kind of a hot mess. I really liked it in the beginning but it quickly became difficult to figure out what was going on. The terminology is confusing, and the story is too rich with over descriptive history. I think the plot itself would be entertaining if the execution were to be cleaner.

This story is the reason books are written. I rarely give out 5 stars but this book earned it easily. I love when a story is so well written that it effortlessly plays out like a movie in my mind, without hesitation to details. I read it slowly, wanting to soak in and devour all the details as if they were rare warm rays of February sunlight, and not wanting it to end.

This is the companion novel to Cadaver & Queen. While it's a smooth adventure, it fails to live up to its predecessor's passion, & it lacked substance in comparison. The plot could have been stronger but it's an easy read with fun characters, a well developed atmosphere and laughs along the way. I like the writing style and pace a lot. I will be on the look out for other books by this author.

"Yearning blossomed inside me. Like a flower seeking sun and water, it spread its roots deep." I'm sorry. I just threw up in my mouth a little. The writing style was quite plain for such a seasoned writer, and not only had I expected much better, but she chose to take risks with sentences such as above. The first half of this book struggled with no direction and felt like a chore.
