CarolynM Milkman and The Museum of Modern Love are 2 recent books that spring to mind as providing plenty to talk about. My group had a great discussion about Patrick Ness's Chaos Walking trilogy. Some of our best discussions have been about Australian books so maybe not relevant to you but Tim Winton's The Turning, Jessica Anderson's Tirra Lirra by the River, Gillian Mears's Foal's Bread and Joan London's The Golden Age were all winners for us. 5y

Reading is special to me in many ways. When I was a kid reading was my escape from boring days I would sit in a tree and read for hours swept away in worlds full of imagination and fun. Now that I‘m an adult reading is my chill after a long day of adulting and anxiety it‘s also an escape but to slow down my hectic life. Vexingcircumstance People called me versions of that when I was in school. I was always confused. I mean, am I supposed to be offended by that? I had a guy once actually call me smart and intended it as an insult. It was something like "You're really smart aren't you?" With a sneer. Pretty sure I just looked at him like he was insane. Middle/high school kids are confusing. They confused me when I was one of them and they still do. Lol 7y
