So I started reading this yesterday and so far it is really damn good. Now mind you I‘m learning loads too because this isnt a part of history I learned about, wars between different African countries and Italy. I knew absolutely nothing about the women warriors who fought. This is just a really intriguing read with really great world building so far!

This is my favorite book of Jackson‘s so far. I already know that I‘ll end up reading again simply because of how it ended. The characters are so well done. The way the story was told was ingenious. The pacing was great and the way the mystery unfolded was so well done.

The pacing is great. And I‘m loving all of the different ways she is telling this story. Really enjoying it so far!

Of course I bought the Gryffindor House 20th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Do I have anymore space in my Harry Potter bookshelf? Of course I don‘t! Will that stop me from buying more Harry Potter editions? It surely will not. I‘ll just need another shelf. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The kid and I are doing a buddy read of this book. I knew I wanted to do that since finding out that Never Caught had a young reader‘s edition. It‘s always important for me to be able to discuss topics like slavery with my kid. This gave us an opportunity to learn together and discuss.

This book is pretty good. It‘s easy to read and very informative. And it‘s piece of history I didnt know about until recently.

Even though I was gone I was still reading so I‘ll be randomly posting some of the books I was reading #inmyabsence! I just read this and I love Menon‘s writng style. I love the way she writes young adult romance. I love the way she portrays the mix of Indian and American culture. In this book I enjoyed the way she discussed complex teenagers/parent relationships and the way she handled accepting ones body and what its capable of. She makes...

This book really started to pick up to me after the first 100 pages. Thats when I really got into the swing of things. I found the story as a whole enjoyable but the only character I actually enjoyed was Fabiola, her cousins got on my nerve even though all of them were well developed. I loved that this story highlighted what it is like making such a huge adjustment moving to the US trying to navigate social norms

I read this book in a day. It is incredibly well layered. Not only does it deal with classism and colorism, but it also looks at how one person trying to make a change has a lot to overcome. This book is so painful because it hints at the worst parts of people and how some of those traits can appear in young people. I highly recommend. It‘s a quick read but it‘s full of complex issues.
