You don‘t have to be vegan or even vegetarian to find a ton of good recipes in this book. I was surprised by the number I want to try. Highly recommended.

I'm learning all about craft cider, domestic cideries, apples, and more. I'm not quite done with the book, but I'm now on the hunt to find good cider in the States. I've yet to find a US cider I like as well as the ones I've had in the UK in Europe, but I'm still searching. (more on thoughts on my blog: https://www.bethfishreads.com/2019/09/weekend-cooking-cider-revival-by-jason.htm... )

TalecArashi Aww.. I'm still bummed the old cider place near me (Poconos/upstate NY) closed, even after all these years. It was an old-style one where you could watch the mashers work while you got syrup or whatever. 3w

Christine We have a wonderful craft cider producer near us in San Diego. They make an amazing, very dry cider (plus seasonal flavors infused with interesting ingredients) and have turned me into a cider lover. 3w
BethFishReads @Christine wow. You‘re so lucky. I live in apple country — there must be some sort of local producer. I need to investigate. 3w

Although the plot line was a little disjointed, I enjoyed this graphic nonfiction about the 1918 flu pandemic. It really showed how swiftly it spread and how deadly it was. Geared to middle grade readers, it‘s a good introduction to the terrible year.

Today's roundup includes 2 really good books for reluctant MG readers: both nicely illustrated with fun stories. The latest Minecraft book is for all you gamers. Boy and Girl is billed as a little weird, but still looks interesting. I'm most excited about this body-image-positive story set in East London about a big girl who loves food, life, and her little sister. More info on my blog (http://tinyurl.com/y39vrw3g) or right here on litsy

rretzler My younger son loved Baby Mouse (and Lunch Lady) when he was in elementary school. He‘s a big graphic novel reader and I‘ll admit we‘ve run out of good graphic novels for his age! 3mo
BethFishReads @rretzler I need to read the earlier books. This one is less graphic novel and more heavily illustrated. 3mo

Pretty much everything I made from this book was awesome but this apple-bacon relish is *dangerously* delicious. If you don‘t eat it all by the spoonful 5 minutes after making it, try it on burgers, hot dogs/sausages, on crackers, as a dip for tortilla chips. I‘ll be sharing the recipe in a week or so. I love this book. Thanks Abrams books.
