pickThe Truly Devious series is soooo fun! A mystery from the past combines with a mystery in the present and a delightful little red herring. If you haven‘t read these, you‘re very lucky because you can binge read the entire series. You should also read Maureen Johnson‘s tweets ‘cause she‘s a hoot.
Banjo prefers book Sundays to tv Sundays. My “Read” playlist - consisting primarily of Modern Jazz Quartet - may have something to do with it. She loves vibraphone.

This book is covering a little bit of everything - fracking, domestic abuse, religion, Three Mile Island, drug abuse ... I like the writing and observations.

Some good news to kick off the new year: this amazing accomplishment was posted in a local library‘s Facebook feed. The library‘s website reports that they recently signed up the 100th participant in this program.

This past fall my significant otter took me to Hearst Castle. It is amazing! I failed to take pix in the library, but I would totally read in here which is Hearst‘s office-y space. If you ever get a chance, GO (and there‘s a nearby Elephant Seal colony). It, and Mallory O‘Meara‘s upcoming Lady From The Black Lagoon, has inspired my 2019 reading goals - celebrity / Hollywood memoirs. I‘m making plans and Peter Lorre I‘m coming for you.
Usually, I savor these books and take my time between them. But after the end of The Beautiful Mystery I just have to know what happens next. I feel as if things are going to be difficult for Gamache, but I believe he‘ll get through it ok.

I never really got in to her music and approached Just Kids with some skepticism (believe the hype! read it!), but I decided if Patti Smith was playing in my neighborhood I should go. Amazing set that included many songs she wrote with her late husband, WV native Fred “Sonic” Smith.
