SoniaC Originally feminism during Faith‘s time was focused an heterosexual white women. If you didn‘t fit that you weren‘t really given space to be part. Today feminist are much more inclusive of women of color and non heterosexual women. 5mo

SoniaC I think she would say she is just a singer but I believe she is more and consider her a poet. She changed and built the songs. 6mo
tpixie @SoniaC yes I think she considers herself a singer because her community sang their stories and did not write them. she did learn how to write which, allowed her to also be a poet. 6mo
