The Cuckoo's Calling | Robert Galbraith

This isn't a bad murder mystery but it's not a great one either. It wasn't a page turner for me. I put it down and then came back to it because I did want to find out who did it. There were some characters introduced that gave the appearance of having much more involvement but then just disappeared from the pages so that didn't leave a lot of guessing who the killer would be. JK Rowling's first venture into non-fantasy was OK and has potential.

I‘ve avoided reading the Strike series mainly because the author is so popular and I kind of steer away from things that seem overhyped, but after seeing a lot of people praising the series, I gave it a go, and I must say I‘m enjoying the series, though more for the relationship between Strike and Robin that the crime element.

StaceGhost I‘m totally in it for the romantic aspect too. The mysteries haven‘t captured me since troubled blood but goodness the tension 🥵 2w
TheEllieMo @StaceGhost I‘m totally in if for Robin‘s character development! 2w

I received this book for my birthday earlier this year from a friend, and I don't know why it's taken me so long to read it😅It was a very interesting murder mystery and I enjoyed the 'Sherlock Holmes' feel. Though a little slow and I did predict who the killer was, I enjoyed the events that played out, and especially liked the interaction between Strike and Robin. Overall it was a good book but could have been shorter.

reading_rainbow This series gets way better! 2mo

Just finished this for my first ever #LMPBC!

Hmm I feel like this didn't quite hit the goal for a thrill read but the suspense was definitely present by the end.

I enjoy a good crime fiction every once in while and I was not disappointed by this at all. It kept me intrigued but it was a bit long. Which scares me because the next books in the series are even longer! 😳

Solid 4.25 star. Hope you like it too!

Coleen I was not completely sold on this first book of the series either. But each subsequent book gets better and better! 2mo
LoverOfLearning @Coleen ohh good to hear! I have the next 2 on my shelf! 2mo

Started this book for my first ever round of #LMPBC.

This book has been on my shelf for 2 years!
I love the drama of a criminal investigation book so i predict a 4 star read!

When troubled model Lula Landry falls to her death from a snow-covered Mayfair balcony, it is assumed that she has committed suicide. However, her brother has his doubts, and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike to look into the case.

1) Yes and no. I have bookshelves in my den, in which I have organized mostly by author, but then my non-fiction isn‘t as organized and I have piles of books on my bedroom floor, my nightstand, and on some bookshelves unorganized.

2) a) I buy both physical and ebooks
b) While my preference is for paperback, I do get hardbacks on occasion

📚Not right now & it drives me crazy! 😵‍💫 I want them to be organized by genre & height, though. Its my summer rainy day project.
📚In my bedroom, on one sad bookcase. The rest are in plastic bins in the garage. ((See first question lol))
📚I do both! But only hardcover if it‘s a series I enjoy and I started it in hardcover (they must match). Otherwise it‘s paperback.
