While remaining my least favorite entry in The Dark Tower, this book is no less a masterpiece. A regrettably brief tale of Susannah/Mia's difficult journey to deliverance, it also portrays some of my favorite passages concerning Roland and Eddie. You can feel King's urgency throughout to reach the Dark Tower, and throw open the door at the top after thirty long years. Despite its unnecessary brevity and haste, this is thoroughly excellent. 5/5

👑Grateful to meet my teammates. Be sure to follow, I will follow back😘 HAPPY SCAR‘‼️

King wrote the last three Dark Tower books back to back to back. Subsequently the final three books read like a trilogy. Song of Susannah is the middle of that trilogy and likewise it suffers in the way many middle books do: lots of world building and less focus on plot.
It is not a bad book. It‘s definitely the weakest link but that‘s like saying the jelly is the weakest part of your PB&J—maybe it‘s not your favorite part but it‘s still vital.

This is my second least favorite book of the whole series. It‘s not terrible, but it leaves a bit to be desired. My favorite part of the book is when Roland and Eddie go to see the 1977 version of Stephen King.to get an idea of where he is in the writing process. Very cool! #Serieove2023 @TheSpineView @Andrew65

“When Susannah Dean is transported via a magic door on the outskirts of Calla Bryn Sturgis (the scene of much of The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla) to New York City in the summer of 1999, the "demon-mother" who possesses her, Mia, has only one thing on her mind. She must give birth to her "chap" at a predetermined location in Manhattan's East 60s, as instructed by the henchmen-or "Low Men"-of the evil Crimson King.”

A fast paced and action filled volume in comparison to the others in this epic series. This definitely had the atmosphere of a journey almost at its close, with more and more things beginning to make sense.
Kings imagination knows no limits and this series is evidence of that. I am in ever growing awe!

I have currently just started the last but one book of The Dark Tower series, and oh boy, has it been a ride! Would highly recommend the series as a whole.
Beware that it is a massive undertaking but the immersive world building is so worth it 🤯

It's kinda fun that I'm reading this today on the same date, and I have a bookclub meeting about it as well. Ka is a wheel, and everything is 19...

Another great story in the Dark Tower series, this time as the title shows main character being Susannah, or better said Susannah/Odetta/Mia. A pick!
@TheAromaOfBooks This gets me to C2 in the #PromptMaze v2 which has one of the prompts “Finish a series - Go to J5“ that is the end, Was not planning but now I'm tempted to read last Dark Tower book and exit this awesome maze, just to get ready for v3 😃
And here is my #BookSpingBingo card too.

Well, my cat was being a brat and wouldn't let me sleep, but it is a beautiful morning, and I have tasty coffee and a great book to read. Not a bad way to start a Sunday.

DISCUSSION POST!! Welcome to the #LosersClub open discussion for #SongOfSusannah

Whew! I was reading this 20th pages a day, but I had to finish it today, it was so good at the end! How are all of my #losersclub friends doing? I just order DT VII for our next read, and I‘m not gonna lie. I‘m glad Colorado Kid comes after that. I need me a shorter book soon! We start Dark Tower VII on March 19th!

Just a reminder that February‘s #LosersClub read is #SongOfSusannah! Put your library holds in now, search your shelves, or buy a new copy, and check back on or about February 19th when we begin reading this one. Discussion will be in March 2022. #StephenKing #StephenKingInOrder #KingFromTheBeginning #ConstantReader #ReadAlong #BuddyRead #BookDiscussion #ghosthostpost

“Set in a world of extraordinary circumstances, filled with stunning visual imagery and unforgettable characters, the Dark Tower series is unlike anything you have ever read. Here is the penultimate installment.”

Next on the Dark Tower re-read!

The journey continues…. Book 6
#TheDarkTower #StephenKing #ChunksterReads

Book six in The Dark Tower series and I think Stephen King is the only author that can get away with writing himself into the story! I couldn't believe my eyes!
I'm not loving this series, its just OK for me. I love how certain things tie back to other books, Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Stand are the obvious ones. I really like some of the characters but this whole multi personality thing leaves me confused and I just can't grasp what's going on.

🎧 This book holds the key to the entire series.
A book where the characters ask the author to continue the story.
Mia, the demon-mother has taken over Susannah & used the Black 13 globe to transport them to NYC in 1999. Their story‘s interesting as this is a future foreign land to both.
To save the Tower our remaining tet & Callahan must save Susannah & the vacant lot Calvin Tower owns before he loses it to Sombra Corp.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

🐢 Tonight I finished my book! It took me 4 hours and 8 minutes this readathon weekend to wrap it up.
🐢 I‘m going to start the final installment tomorrow night, but I won‘t hit #20in4 this time.
📚 Thank you @Andrew65 !

Only 2 degrees might be a little cool for sitting outside reading, but the ☀️is shining so, we‘re going with it!
My 2nd read through book 6 of the DT series. I recall it being one of my least favourites of the series, and that opinion holds. It‘s not the whole book per se but I don‘t love the Susannah-Mia path. I did like the Roland-Eddie story line tho. Sooo... it is what it is I guess.

My husband and I are lIstening to The Dark Tower series; we finished Song of Susannah today. Although I like it, it could have done with a lot less Stephen King in it! Listening to it and Desperation at the same time makes it so easy to see the connections. That guy at the bottom froze when he saw me; he became as still as a statue. #audiowalk

It feels more like an elaborate bridge than a novel in its own right, but this entry in The Dark Tower series still succeeds by giving us quality time with a quality character (or two or three).

Book 6 is quite the ride! Lots of action, with the end drawing perilously near. Our ka-tet is working feverishly to defeat the Crimson King. Will they succeed? On to Book 7, Constant Reader! 😁

The Dark Tower re-read continues with book six, Song of Susannah.

Defeated the wolves, now to continue the quest for the dark tower.

The Dark Tower is tied with IT ("The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years-if it ever did end-began, so far as I know or can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newspaper floating down a gutter swollen with rain") as best opening line

I'm totally going to be incorporating fuckaree into my vocabulary

#BookReport
I finished DT Book 5 (Wolves of Calla) & am now about 60 pages into book 6. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to finish Song of Susannah by tonight/tomorrow morning. Wolves of Calla was magnificent, I think it was one of the strongest entries in the series so far & it was a pleasure to see the return of a character from one of my favorite SK books. On a side note the Starbucks holiday cups make me want to do word find puzzles.

So I‘m steadily working my way through the “Dark Tower” books. I started reading them nearly 30 years ago (😳) when Stephen King released the first 3 —and then he took a years-long hiatus and I forgot about them. I had to start back at the beginning and I‘m determined to FINALLY finish the series. Finally up to this one (6 of 7). And I‘m not sure if I think it‘s super cheesy or totally brilliant that King wrote himself into it as a character. 🧐

This is the fastest I‘ve finished a book in this series. I can‘t believe I‘m ready to start the last book in the series 😊

Finally starting the next book in the Dark Tower Series. I‘m determined to finish this year since I started the first book in 2017🤦🏾♀️

Stephen King's seven-volume magnum opus, The Dark Tower. In this book we learn that Mia has usurped the body of pregnant Susannah Dean, the power of Black 13 in 1999, and that they need to secure the vacant lot of Calvin Tower. Eddie and Roland are in western Maine and find the author of a novel called Salem's Lot, a writer who turns out to be shocked by them as they are by him. I liked this book the best so far and look forward to the last book.

Finally completed my reread for the #EpicKatetRead. This was my least favorite but still filled with all the strange elements and twists only Sai King can dream up! And the good news is -- "one more turn of the path, and then we reach the clearing". Can't wait for the end!

This was an enjoyable entry in the series but found elements of it quite bizarre, especially with the entry of the author as a character in the book. Really enjoyed the coda at the end of the book, but at first thought it was totally factual account of Stephen‘s life not part of the story. So all in all the way this book was written challenged my thinking. The more I get into the series the more I feel I need to reread it for elements missed.

Finally started listening to Song of Susannah, book 6 in the Dark Tower Series. Should have enough time to finish this before the Group discussion on 15th February. #EpicKatetBuddyRead

#katet read - finished number 6. First time round Wolves of Calla was my least fav - this time I think it‘s this one- but this one leads to the finale so there‘s something good.
Other pic is how lovely the cathedral looked when I left work today- the best bit of the day 😁

Oh Susannah, I may have a chance to read your story and actually keep apace with the #EpicKaTet schedule.
#TheDarkTower #EpicBuddyRead @MinDea

I really enjoyed Song of Susannah even though certain parts were just nuts. And the ending 🙀 I can't waite to discuss this. #epickatet #epickatetread @MinDea
