Another great story in the Dark Tower series, this time as the title shows main character being Susannah, or better said Susannah/Odetta/Mia. A pick!

@TheAromaOfBooks This gets me to C2 in the #PromptMaze v2 which has one of the prompts “Finish a series - Go to J5“ that is the end, Was not planning but now I'm tempted to read last Dark Tower book and exit this awesome maze, just to get ready for v3 😃

And here is my #BookSpingBingo card too.

TheAromaofBooks Haha it's tempting when you see that finish line ahead! 😂 I started a new round of the Q1 maze in March as well and haven't found my way out of either of them haha 3w

Book six in The Dark Tower series and I think Stephen King is the only author that can get away with writing himself into the story! I couldn't believe my eyes!
I'm not loving this series, its just OK for me. I love how certain things tie back to other books, Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Stand are the obvious ones. I really like some of the characters but this whole multi personality thing leaves me confused and I just can't grasp what's going on.

🎧 This book holds the key to the entire series.

A book where the characters ask the author to continue the story.

Mia, the demon-mother has taken over Susannah & used the Black 13 globe to transport them to NYC in 1999. Their story‘s interesting as this is a future foreign land to both.

To save the Tower our remaining tet & Callahan must save Susannah & the vacant lot Calvin Tower owns before he loses it to Sombra Corp.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

Twainy The ka-tet climbs to the doorway cave … it‘s up to Jake, Oy & Callahan to find Susannah-Mia, who reveals all & her desire to raise whatever she delivers.

Eddie & Roland end up in 1977 Maine where they meet the author of Salem's Lot who‘s as freaked out to be meeting them as they are of meeting him.

The last chapter, Coda is the contents of an eye opening journal.

I loved this book!

My husband and I are lIstening to The Dark Tower series; we finished Song of Susannah today. Although I like it, it could have done with a lot less Stephen King in it! Listening to it and Desperation at the same time makes it so easy to see the connections. That guy at the bottom froze when he saw me; he became as still as a statue. #audiowalk

Tamra Possums in general are so cute, though their teeth are not. 😬 1y

It feels more like an elaborate bridge than a novel in its own right, but this entry in The Dark Tower series still succeeds by giving us quality time with a quality character (or two or three).

I finished DT Book 5 (Wolves of Calla) & am now about 60 pages into book 6. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to finish Song of Susannah by tonight/tomorrow morning. Wolves of Calla was magnificent, I think it was one of the strongest entries in the series so far & it was a pleasure to see the return of a character from one of my favorite SK books. On a side note the Starbucks holiday cups make me want to do word find puzzles.

So I‘m steadily working my way through the “Dark Tower” books. I started reading them nearly 30 years ago (😳) when Stephen King released the first 3 —and then he took a years-long hiatus and I forgot about them. I had to start back at the beginning and I‘m determined to FINALLY finish the series. Finally up to this one (6 of 7). And I‘m not sure if I think it‘s super cheesy or totally brilliant that King wrote himself into it as a character. 🧐

Stephen King's seven-volume magnum opus, The Dark Tower. In this book we learn that Mia has usurped the body of pregnant Susannah Dean, the power of Black 13 in 1999, and that they need to secure the vacant lot of Calvin Tower. Eddie and Roland are in western Maine and find the author of a novel called Salem's Lot, a writer who turns out to be shocked by them as they are by him. I liked this book the best so far and look forward to the last book.

jb72 I‘m on book four. So far it‘s a fantastic series. 3y

This was an enjoyable entry in the series but found elements of it quite bizarre, especially with the entry of the author as a character in the book. Really enjoyed the coda at the end of the book, but at first thought it was totally factual account of Stephen‘s life not part of the story. So all in all the way this book was written challenged my thinking. The more I get into the series the more I feel I need to reread it for elements missed.

TrishB I struggled with this one this time around, not sure why but glad you felt it too. 3y

MinDea @Andrew65 credits? Do you do audible? I have been thinking about doing audible.... Glad you get a couple weeks off though! Sound alike you need a break! 4y
Andrew65 @MinDea I tend to go in and out of audible, but felt I was working so hard I should treat myself and bought a year‘s credit package (24 credits for just over 640, but where possible try to buy when 2 for 3, or get one free special offers). Bought these credits in April and currently got 8 credits left, then will try to cancel as sometimes give you a special offer to get you to stay. Don‘t like the monthly commitment as not as good value. 4y
Andrew65 @MinDea Definitely need a break. Off since Thursday night and keep falling asleep reading over the past three days, which sums up the exhaustion. Hope you get a break. 4y

Sometimes I can‘t tell whether Susannah is the best character (badass disabled WOC!) or deeply problematic (basically everything her Detta identity says). Anyway all this to say that I deeply enjoyed this bonkers and very meta addition to the series, in which one of the main characters is Stephen King, as a version of himself who might be a god.

G is for Gan, the God of the Dark Tower (the tower is actually his living body). He arose from the Prim, the soup of creation, & spun the universe from his navel.
SK is a kas-ka Gan in our world, one of Gan‘s prophets.
SK is known for his look at evil, for fearsome villains, for plumbing the depths of human cruelty. But there is always some Good worth fighting for in his tales.
Maybe that means he‘s actually an optimist.

GarthRanzz Whoa. So deep for so late at night. 😉 Great addition Laura. I really can‘t wait to maybe finally get through the tower series with the new #EpicKaTetRead. 4y
Sweettartlaura @GarthRanzz Do it!!! I wish I had time to go through these again right now. And get yourself 4y
Sweettartlaura Or did you say you had it??? 4y
Sweettartlaura @GarthRanzz I see now - you have it. Use it - you‘ll be glad you did. You probably don‘t need it for The Gunslinger. But as you get to books 5, 6, & 7, you‘ll be glad you have it. 4y
GarthRanzz I do have it! Going to keep it ready while reading. 😊 4y

Thanks for the tag @Eggs Theses were difficult! I have unpopular answers.

1. The Hulk
2. Susannah from Stephen King's Dark Tower series
3. Beatrix Kiddo from Kill Bill (I still love Uma Thurman in these movies even though the men involved with them turned out to be assholes)
4. Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar from Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere
5. Captain America
6. @Katiebookworm tag!
