Holly Gibney. She really escalated the Bill Hodges trilogy, and even got her own spin-off. Strong supporting characters are only an issue if the main character is weak.

Late to the party, and kicking myself for not reading this sooner! This is not your classic SK horror, but contains all the elements that only King can come up with - fast paced, heart-stopping action and unforgettable characters. Will Patton narrating is the icing on the cake!
I don‘t know why I waited so long to start the Bill Hodges trilogy. But I started this book this morning and had devoured it by this afternoon. The shortish chapters made the pages breeze by and I really couldn‘t put it down. Stressful and will keep you on the edge of your seat! The ending was very solid. All ready to dive into book 2 tonight! 5⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it in a number of days. It wouldn‘t have taken me so long except I do have my motherly duties lol. I can‘t wait to start the rest of the series. Stephen King can be a hit or a miss with me but I‘ve learned the books really are always better then the movies or tv series.
Great book! Loved how it gave points of view from both sides.
Wow I really liked this one!! It is right up there with The Stand, I can't choose which one is my favorite, but maybe will be able to decide after I finish the series!! Because WOW I really liked it!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and the group of people in this book were seriously perfect. Also the audiobook was AMAZING. 5 stars!!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 loved it but really it's 25 golden shining stars for Will Patton's narration. I would love for him to be with me everywhere I go to read signs, menus, labels....anything. Just read to me!

Brady is a serial killer a bit different than most. Love this trilogy!
Still loving Will Patton's amazing performance of this book! Basically walking around with a big grin on my face - he's so good!!
I DON'T KNOW IF I LOVED THIS OR RATED THIS 4 STARS BC I WAS SIMPING FOR STEPHEN KING
Still enjoying this audiobook read by Will Patton very much! Getting a lot of walking done because of it. This cardinal was there on my way up the trail and was still there on my way back. 💗
I'm posting one book per day from the ever growing unread stacks in my personal library. No description or explanation, just books I own and plan to read. #tbr
Day 36
My 6 year old has a cold and ear ache. So she is cuddled up with my Stephen king blanket! It‘s cold and rainy here for her spring break.
I couldn‘t take the language anymore. I couldn‘t tell you how many times the n-word was used. I get the character is a racist but seriously come on. Then the thing with the mother no thank you.
How many times can Stephen King reference his other books in this one?
Thanks to @Hestapleton and #slumpathon I managed to get a good amount of reading done despite it being a very busy few days!

1. Any kind of demon. There is a book called The Demonologist that chronicles Ed and Lorraine Warren‘s real life work and the last half of it freaked me out. They‘re the couple from The Conjuring movies.
2. I want to say Poltergeist but it also could have been any of those really bad ones that they used to show on USA Up All Night.
3. I keep telling myself I‘m gonna start the trilogy but never have.

I generally always enjoy Stephen King‘s books and this one is no different. This was such a crazy story, but so good. I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading this one. I wasn‘t sure if I would like it, but now I know I have to get the rest of the series because this book is just stuck in my head and I have to know what happens after it ended. I highly recommend this one if you like horror!
I couldn‘t think of a book character that reminds me of myself, but Bill Hodges is pretty cool. 🙃 1. My favorite sport is football, and my favorite team is the Cleveland Browns! 🏈🐶🧡🤎 2. I‘m grateful for my job, even though it can be challenging at times. ❤️🩺💉 #thankfulthursday
In a mega-stakes, high-suspense race against time, three unlikely and winning heroes try to stop a crazy killer from blowing up thousands. #stephenking
I loved everything about this book! It was suspenseful and the plot was great!

Bill Hodges, a 60-something, fat, ex-cop...no thank you 🤮🤢
I'm using Lucas as a footrest while I start my new book. 🤓 It's crazy stormy out right now, so the next few days will be perfect reading weather.
Completely devoured this book and so excited to learn more about Holly‘s origins. Going to spend the day outside reading as much as I can.
Just about to start the Mr Mercedes trilogy. Can‘t go wrong with King. Well, you can sometimes 😂
Imagine a Mercedes unexpectedly plowing into a crowd of people, killing eight. Why would somebody do such a thing?
After receiving a letter from the alleged killer, Bill Hodges, a retired cop, is determined to solve this case with the help of his close friend Jerome. But will they get to Mr. Mercedes before he strikes again?
Excellent characters, and if you listen to the audiobook, a great narrator!
1. I keep a few, the rest I take to the used book store. The ones they don't want end up going to Goodwill.
2. I'm usually reading 2 or 3 books at once, so no set time, I read as the mood strikes me.
3. Tagged. There was nothing wrong with the audiobook, I just have to accept that I don't care for fiction in that format.

This is definitely a case of "it's not you, it's me". I just can't get into the story even though I enjoy Will Patton's narration. I enjoy non-fiction on audio but I struggle with fiction.
Really, how does Mr King do that? How can he still get me hooked from the first sentence to the last? After so many books he wrote? I admire him for that. I really do.
I‘ve been reading much more slowly recently, because I‘ve been crazy busy, but I blew through this book at top speed.
King has always been my favorite author, and for whatever reason I never read the Bill Hodges books.
This book was a fast paced, pull no punches, thrill ride. Not classic King horror, but still scary. The climactic scene had me holding my breath.
A Coke with BB8 on and a Stephen King to read - there sure are worse ways to start a day 😁❤️

I truly loved this series. Shows how Stephen King just keeps getting better with age.
The ending redeemed. The part at the venue is often priceless and I now perfectly understand how so many reviewers have a crush on Holly – I now do, too.
But before, I often thought that the pieces of the plot are copied from various thriller stories. There were many elements in the plot where I thought of other books and films I saw. Plus: The two “sidekicks” are mostly stereotypes.
That‘s why my rating is only scarce “Pick”, more a “So-So”.
That was yummy.
Porridge with red currants, a teaspoon of nuts and one of Nutella.
My significant other also liked it although he is not much into sweets and chocolate.
And, guess what, the audiobook is gripping again. 🎧 So I‘m sure we‘ll continue listening. Since it‘s darkening again, there‘s not much more to do. 😉
Time for the final mp3-CD of this – together with my significant other – while I head to the kitchen to prepare something that is supposed to be a combination of “(late) lunch and (early) dinner”. 🥣
👉🏼 Oats, joghurt and fruits. 🤤
Oh. So Mr. King also knows how to (unspectacularly, almost silently) remove characters from the story that I root for.
I‘m still a bit biased of the plot. I like it, no question, but it also feels a bit slowly at times. I like that King takes time to put background on his characters, on the one hand. On the other hand much of it doesn‘t serve the plot. Sigh.
And: Will there be a motive for the villain❓ (Serious question.)
Happy Halloween 🎃 to all who go hunting.
Folks, we can‘t believe it‼️ We did have “trick-or-treaters”. So we didn‘t get the candy in vain, yesterday. 😅
Me and my significant other cooked together (vegetable Bolognese) and are still listening to our cooking-entertainment. I like it. At first I thought it was lengthy and Bill weird but it balanced quickly and now I like it.
(And yepp, dinner was _delicious_. 😋)
An item on loan from my colleague. I said that I don‘t read Stephen King‘s books (anymore) because I am such a chicken and can‘t stand horror books after I, at 7 or 8 years, watched “Pet Sematary” and was as scared by this for weeks as I was by King‘s “It” and its clown Pennywise 🤡.
My colleague promised this would be more of a mystery-story. Let‘s see. So far I like it. King knows how to draw characters one can imagine with just few words.
I love Bill Hodges as a character, and am excited to read the next installment. I loved his team of misfits, and seeing each of them grow, and their relationship with one another. The perspective of the killer was a bit much for me (too vulgar / disturbing), but I understand it's Stephen King.
He never fails to make me feel Halloween-y!

Really enjoyed this one 🙂 A good storyline and very likeable characters. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy.

Book 2/20 for #bfcr4
Yes, I am 34 years old and yes I am only just reading a Stephen King book 😯 My hubby can't believe it and finally convinced me to read the Bill Hodges trilogy 📚
