This book seems to be a Japanese classic, but I've only just discovered it, thanks to various Litsy challenges that inspire me to try out new authors! I really enjoyed it and will look for more books featuring the eccentric detective Kosuke Kindaichi.

A good installment in the Falco series set in Ancient Rome. In this one, Falco travels to Germania on an imperial mission and has a number of (mis)adventures along the way.

This was a veritable festive bloodbath!

A group of VIPs get locked in a Christmas department store by a Poundland Wonka handing out sus hot chocolates... CHAOS ENSUES.

This was packed full of secrets, deception, gaslamps, creepy passages, automata, firelight, and one grisly grotto. Twists and turns galore, this was a high adrenaline page turner that somehow still managed to feel Christmassy.

Loved it.

A middling pick for the #ChristmasCrimeChallenge.

Set in the (fictional) Clarendon English Dictionary. Cryptic letters start arriving addressed to the editors, which seem to hint at what happened to Martha‘s sister, who went missing 10 years previously. Who? Why? Why now? And what does the sender know?

I listened on audio which, although done well, wasnt ideal for the clues and wordiness -& there is a LOT of wordiness as you‘d expect from Dent.

I ❤️ Agatha Christie and it‘s no surprise that I very much enjoyed this collection of Poirot short stories, most of which also featured Hastings.

I‘d seen all but two adapted for TV with David Suchet. The exceptions were “The Lemesurier Inheritance” and “The Market Basing Mystery” which were not filmed as part of the ITV production, though part of their plots were worked in to other episodes.

This was a big step up from the last 2 festive mysteries Benedict put out. Much more polished, pacey and fun.

The metaphors still suck, the cheese level is insane, and the 80 year olds read like 30 year olds. That said, this was a Christmassy romp with plenty of action, and I enjoyed it more than the others!
