Oof. 1.5 stars. Entertaining enough, but where (and what) was the plot?

I‘d been upstaged, demoted from protagonist in my own drama to comic relief in my parents‘ tragedy.
Here's my 12 reads for the month of January - tagged book is my favorite of the month!
my first book of the year was a flop…so giving this one a go and hoping it gets me out of my slump!
overall, not a bad year of reading for me! looking forward to a better year in 2023 📚❤️

Would anyone be interested in this set of The Dark Tower series (minus The Wind Through the Keyhole)? It's a mix of paperbacks and hardcovers that I have picked up secondhand over the years.
I'm happy to pass them on to a reader that is interested in the series. I want to give them away as a set but will consider giving them away individually.
United States only, please, due to shipping.
My dad gave me a Kindle for Christmas! I‘m somewhat overwhelmed by all of the options on #KindleUnlimited, so tell me your favs - can‘t wait to dive in to e-books in 2023!
vibes were creepy…that‘s about it. i can also almost promise you that when a woman goes to check to see if there is a potentially murderous/dangerous intruder in an abandoned hospital, she will not stop to look at herself in the mirror and make a comment about how she doesn‘t look as chubby as she feels.
My main takeaway here is that - despite all of the videos and reviews that talk about the trigger warnings in this book - it‘s important for the reader to know that this book isn‘t about what Kayleigh has seen as a content moderator. It‘s more about how the things she has seen has messed with her life. I know that some people are very surprised by some of the content that Kayleigh has to look at, but if you‘re someone that knows about (1/2)
now that graduation is out of the way, i finally found time to open all of these beautiful cards! thank you to everyone that sent me a card - i can‘t wait to display them in my home ❤️ #holidaycardswap #litsylove #cardswap
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“You don‘t pass or fail at being a person, dear.”
My first Gaiman! Loved it! Thank you @Addison_Reads for lending me your copy!
The vibes were great. The atmosphere was great. The characters...yeah, not really for me.
I think that my biggest struggle was how Beatriz was constantly flipping between “I married for money“ and “I want to be my own person“ and wanting her new husband to come home so that she wouldn't be alone in this creepy old house.
The chapters from the priest undercut Beatriz's narration and answers questions that have yet to be asked.
Sixty pages from the end and my little guy won‘t leave me alone enough to finish 😅
Asexual Indigenous main character?
A female/male friendship that isn't centered around romance?
A ghost dog sidekick?
Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badge was such a joy to read! It's a YA novel (but reads more like Middle Grade) that centers around Ellie using her family's generational secret to solve her cousin's murder.

This was so much fun! It has been a while since I have been able to enjoy a YA fantasy...but this was just what I needed! The friend group was cute and I enjoyed learning about the magic system right along with them. What I enjoyed the most, though, was Okorafor's brilliant blending of a magical world with our normal world. Who says that you have to choose one world over the other?
