What a great author! I really enjoyed the second book in the 4MK series. Loved the whole plot and can't wait to see what comes next! My library doesn't have the third book so I will most likely get scribd again for a month so I can listen to it 🙈 Thanks again @aperfectmjk for introducing me to the series! 😁📚📖

aperfectmjk I'm so glad you're enjoying it! It's my favorite series by far. 17h

Wow, what a great thriller! @aperfectmjk was right, once I started reading I was hooked and couldn't stop. 📖 Thanks for the recommendation! I've already downloaded the second book onto my kobo 😁 If you enjoy a good thriller, check this series out! 📚

aperfectmjk Yaaaaaaaaay!!! I'm so glad you liked it! I can't wait until you finish the series. It's truly mind blowing. @FantasyChick is my J.D. Barker sista... she'll tell ya, anything he touches is guaranteed to be a winner. 2w

Hi all! I've been in a pretty big reading slump lately and I'm not sure what I should read to get myself back into it 😅 Looking for suggestions of either your favorite book or books that have gotten you out of reading slumps 😁 Thanks in advance, it's greatly appreciated 📚

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I always love a good YA book to get me out of a slump. Predictable, usually a love interest, lots of strong female characters out there too. 3w
wanderinglynn I always go back & reread a fave book or listen to audiobooks. For me audiobooks are a great way to do other things (like walk or jigsaw puzzles) and get a story. 3w
aperfectmjk If you like thrillers, I highly recommend J.D. Barker's The Fourth Monkey series. It will have you flipping those pages in no time. 3w

Chrissyreadit I love these books 3w
Chrissyreadit I just finished and thought it was good 3w
Chrissyreadit And last one of my favorites this year: 3w
ChaoticMissAdventures I usually grab 5 books from my TBR. Read one chapter (or 20 pgs) of each and the see which I keep thinking about after. But also, some times we just need a break! I try not to force it too much. 3w
Palimpsest I usually try short stories. 3w
Ruthiella Rereading a favorite is always a comfort to me. 3w
Reggie Sometimes it‘s a genre read. Sometimes it‘s an easy breezy romance and sometimes it‘s a blood filled horror. 3w
Twainy Reread a favorite book or listen to a favorite audiobook. A few that get me … Red Dwarf & the sequel Better than Life which are super old beat up paperbacks … and audiobooks for The Red Queen‘s War, The Age of Madness and the Harry Potter series. Good luck 🤗 3w
TheAromaofBooks As some of the others have said, rereading a favorite is always a good option for me - something that's comforting, revisiting old fictional friends haha I also love fluff reads & usually if I'm in a slump it's because my brain needs a break, so I find some romcoms or some PG Wodehouse to give me some brain candy!!! The yearning to read always comes back, so don't stress it!! 3w
michellelav You are all the best!!! I've had a lot on my plate so I definitely think I just needed a bit of a break 😊 I'll look into every suggested book and also check my bookshelf for anything that sparks interest 😁 So many great suggestions 📚 @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego @wanderinglynn @aperfectmjk @Chrissyreadit @ChaoticMissAdventures @Palimpsest @Ruthiella @Reggie @Twainy @TheAromaofBooks 3w
Nute I get it! I‘ve been in a year-long reading slump with tiny shimmers of hope at random times. Usually I was rescued by poetry, nonfiction and short stories and the intrigue of a mystery novel. Returning to an old favorite book also seems to help, as well as, reconnecting to my first book love genre (SciFi/ Fantasy). Some days, nothing worked and I gave myself approved permission to binge watch Netflix series and endlessly scroll Litsy posts.🤗 3w
michellelav @Nute right? Life gets so busy at times I feel like I only have the mental capacity to sit and watch something 😅 I actually downloaded the first book of the fourth monkey series to give it a try! @aperfectmjk And I have the midnight library on hold @Chrissyreadit 😁 my library didn't have most of the recommended books above so I'll start with these and come back to this post for inspiration! 😁💕 3w
aperfectmjk @michellelav please let me know what you think of The Fourth Monkey. I'd love to hear your thoughts!!! 🤗 3w
michellelav @aperfectmjk absolutely! I'll take you in my review 😁 3w

I was torn between pick and so-so for this one. I really enjoyed the first half of the book but I found the end very rushed. I liked getting to know every character and seeing their struggles and accomplishments throughout the book. However, I know it was set in 1965-89 but the use of the R word really threw me off 😅

This is my book spin for July! It was #20 on my july list 😊 @TheAromaofBooks

I LOVED this book!!! Comicon meets family drama. It took me a little bit to understand where the story was going but once it clicked I couldn't stop reading it! 😊 The author made it so easy to see the story unfold in your mind ❤ Set mainly in the comicon world there were quite a few interesting characters 😁📖

Reggie I effing loved this book. When the dad tells the son the story of the episodes and you realize they are different from how the mom told them. Just so good and smart this book. 6mo

I enjoyed this novel quite abit. I love when story takes place over 2 different timelines so this book was perfect for that. This is the story of two bestfriends and one night that changed their lives forever. It tells the story of what happened that horrible night in 2005 while showing the importance it played in their lives in 2017. The story is told through multiple characters which I also love. 😊

Mackenzie and Nolan have been bestfriends for as long as they can remember. They're basically family, always getting brother and sister jokes. Which is why it's awkward for Mackenzie to admit to herself that she is inlove with Nolan. Will she be able to tell him before college come around? Cutesy book, I did enjoy it but found it a little slow at some points. 😊📖

This was an easy and light read 📖 If you're a fan of the Bachelor franchise I suggest you read this one! 😁

MallenNC I only sometimes watch the shows but I still end up knowing a lot about what‘s happening for some reason! I think this book sounds fun. 12mo
michellelav @MallenNC I would definitely characterize it as a fun read! 😊 12mo
MallenNC @michellelav Great! I think how reality TV gets made is pretty interesting 12mo

michellelav @MallenNC definitely interesting and cringy 😅 There was a show made based off the Bachelor producers called UnReal, I'll have to check it out! 12mo
MallenNC @michellelav I remember that show! I watched the first season and then it kind of went off the rails so I didn‘t finish the later seasons. But it definitely showed how the show manipulates people. 12mo
michellelav @MallenNC ou okay! I'll go into it ready for that 😊 I'm definitely interested. 12mo

I finished this book yesterday. Even with all the controversy (see previous post) I found myself reading it at any point I could. I was hooked from the start and really enjoyed the story line! Dr. Fox has a severe case of agoraphobia and hasn't left the house in months. She's intrigued by her new neighbors and watches them from her window.

This is going to make an amazing movie. I can't wait for the release date! 😊

Buechersuechtling I didn‘t know about the controversy until I read about it in your posts but I have to say I love this book when I listen to it and also I‘m looking forward to the film that obviously is being made of it. Another thing I didn‘t know. So: Thanks for your “educative” 😉 posts. 🙇🏽‍♀️ 12mo
michellelav @Buechersuechtling Yeah! The movie was initially going to be released may 2020 but covid delayed production. If I'm not mistaken Netflix picked up the project and we should hear more about it in the next month or so! 😊 Happy to keep you informed 😉 12mo

Littens, I'm having a moral dilemma.. I'm about 1/3 through this book and I'm really enjoying it but I just found out the author basically plagiarize the whole book 😞 Luckily I didn't pay for it but I'm finding myself feeling slightly guilty now..

This book is also being made into a movie which I was excited about before too 🙄

mdm139 I have the same qualms about The Giver Of the Stars. 13mo
mdm139 But this is the first I am hearing about that for this book 13mo
Elizabeth2 I had no idea. I really enjoyed the book. 🤔 13mo

michellelav I've been going down a rabbit hole looking up the author 😅 Apparently he also lied about having terminal cancer? If that's the case I'll pick up the other book.. @Elizabeth2 @mdm139 13mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I knew there was tons of drama surrounding this book, but I know what it was exactly. 13mo
Elizabeth2 I just read an article because I was curious. The two books are incredibly similar (seem too similar for coincidence) but Finn's outline was submitted before the other author even began writing her book, even though her book was published first. Fascinating. The story of these two books is full of drama and intrigue. Would make a good novel itself. *Spoilers in article* https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/14/books/dan-mallory-woman-window-denzil.html 13mo
michellelav @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I had no idea! I typically look up a book before reading it but for some reason waited til' I was 1/3 done this time 😅 13mo
michellelav @Elizabeth2 Right?! I've been reading articles on the author since I found out.. I was not expecting so much dirt. Makes me cringe that he quoted "“It is often said that ‘good writers borrow, great writers steal'" 13mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Oops, I meant to say i didn't know exactly what it was. 🤦‍♀️ The whole thing could be it's own book. 13mo
michellelav @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I assumed that was what you meant 😊 Honestly, it would make a good book. Haha 13mo
KatieDid927 Hi! So I understand your dilemma. I already owned the book when I read about the author. I read it earlier this year anyway and allowed myself to enjoy it since it was already in my possession. I just won‘t support anything else he publishes and I‘m still not sure what I‘ll do about the movie. But my cheap 2 cents is, continue enjoying it. You‘ve already started. Just keep in mind what you‘ve learned for the future. 13mo
KatieDid927 @mdm139 I personally think The Giver of the Stars is even more egregious and obvious than this case. This case is messy and the author is a terrible person but it‘s not as blatantly obvious. 13mo
Elizabeth2 @michellelav haha! I was reading that article and then posted the same one you had already linked! He explains the lying with mental illness, which makes me feel badly for him. So interesting. Some of the details between the two are just too similar. I wonder if there is an editor who maybe read both plot ideas, and then pushed one of the authors more in one direction? Seems like there must be a link somewhere. 13mo
michellelav @KatieDid927 That's very true! Thank you, that made me feel a lot better 💕 13mo
KatieDid927 @michellelav Good, I‘m glad! Don‘t beat yourself up. It‘s an enjoyable book. 13mo
michellelav @Elizabeth2 Hm, I wonder! It is way too much of a coincidence. Maybe once the movie comes out people will find a link? Time will tell 😅 13mo
MoonWitch94 @michellelav I read this book last year & loved it. I thought it was fantastic, well written and a superb thriller. I never heard about the controversy until today! I think as others have said, just keep enjoying it & finish it. Also, Finn DID have the whole book outlined prior to the other novel‘s publication. So I wouldn‘t fret. 13mo
michellelav @MoonWitch94 Thank you! I just needed the reassurance 😂 13mo
MoonWitch94 @michellelav You‘re welcome! I was actually surprised to learn the author was a man, since I think he wrote the MC so well. Not always the case. 13mo
Elizabeth2 @MoonWitch94 I completely agree with both comments! I always assumed AJ Finn was a woman as well. 🤷‍♀️ 13mo
MoonWitch94 @Elizabeth2 I‘m always surprised when Men are able to voice women so well in novels. And vice versa. 13mo

I got the box set, To all the boys I've loved before, for pretty cheap off bookoutlet.ca 😍 I was doing some Christmas shopping and needed $45 for free shipping 🤷‍♀️ Has anyone read this series?

I also got Handsome Johnny by Lee Server, cursed by Frank Miller and Thomas Wheeler and 2 gifts ❤ Happy day all around 💕 #catsoflitsy

Prairiegirl_reading This is a rare case where I thought the movie was better. The first book is the best one in my opinion. They are cute though. 13mo
michellelav @Prairiegirl_reading I'll probably read them as a light read after something heavy 😊 Thank you! 13mo
Prairiegirl_reading @michellelav perfect recovery books. 😊 13mo

New York, 1906, Prudence works with a medical team to help prevent the spread of Typhoid fever. This historical YA novel tells the story of Mary Mallon aka "Typhoid Mary". And even though I did already know a lot about this case I really enjoyed this book. ? It's written out journal style which I'm always a fan of. ? This was a nice quick read!

I really wanted to love it but couldn't bring myself to even like it.. Only finished it hoping it wouldn't end in a super predictable way (which it did). It started out so strong but 1/3 I started having a hard time. The detective was supposed to come off as romantic but I got creepy stalker vibes. I also think the author put too much emphasis on him. Had she stuck to Addie and Vals relationship I think I would have enjoyed it. 😞

This is my first Malcolm Gladwell book and I'm blown away 🤯 Talking to strangers takes popular cases and breaks down the interactions in them. It's so interesting! He is clear, intelligent, interesting and passionate! I love when I'm reading a book and you can tell the author loves what they are writing.

Can't wait to dive into his other books! ❤📚
