Tastes Like Candy
Tastes Like Candy: A Slasher Novel | Ivy Tholen
8 posts | 7 read | 7 to read
Everyone at Pritchett High wants an invitation to the Senior Scavenge. In 2020, Violet Warren and her friends are the lucky ones. Eight girls will break into the Poison Apple Carnival after hours for a scavenger hunt, then at sunrise they'll gather for a celebration in honor of their upcoming senior year. But someone else has another game planned. Minutes after the girls sneak into the carnival, a madman in a rubber mask begins slashing his way through the group and Violet quickly realizes his motives are personal. As she watches her friends die in a series of increasingly bizarre attacks, she must fight to survive while trying to answer the question: What could she have done to earn a fast-pass for a roller coaster ride straight to hell?

4 out of 5 scary carnivals for “Tastes Like Candy” by Ivy Tholen 🎡🎡🎡🎡

Reading “Tastes Like Candy” is a lot like actually eating candy… it‘s not the most nutritious thing you can feed your mind, but it sure is a lot of fun! A group of friends sneak into the Poison Apple Carnival on a scavenger hunt, only to be hunted themselves by a masked killer. A standard setup, but enhanced by the cast getting deeper characterization and witty dialogue.

I recently reorganized my bookshelves to sort them mostly by genre. The shelf on the top in this photo is mostly dedicated to horror and thrillers. I‘ve been on a real horror novel kick lately, so I just finished Clown in a Cornfield (which I really enjoyed), and am now reading the tagged book. They‘re predicting up to 12 inches of snow in my area tomorrow, so it‘s possible I‘ll have a lot of time to read through this shelf this weekend! 😱🌨️❄️

Librarybelle Nice! 3mo

IndoorDame Gene is one of my favorite organizational methods! I‘ve been itching to do mine over that way. 3mo

5feet.of.fury When I looked a couple days ago I was only getting like 3 inches & I have completely refused to adjust my mindset 😂😅😬 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @IndoorDame I used to have them organized more by author, but I‘m liking this new system much better. 😀 3mo
DaveGreen7777 @5feet.of.fury I much prefer the weather forecast from a couple of days ago! 😂🌨️ 3mo

Book 208📚 4⭐️

I looooove a good campy slasher!

A little rivalry, a little cotton candy murder…

It is sweet as candy!

Good slasher bones and great setting. Ruined by stoner dialogue, too much sarcasm, and a villain with the dumbest reasoning for spree killing ever.

Thank you so much for my #creepychristmas package @DinoMom ! I smiled while opening everything, and now I'm gonna have to get my mom to brainstorm some ideas of what to make for me with the awesome fabric you used as wrapping (she's a sewer while I ... am not lol). I love it all! Happy holidays!

@teebe you're a Rockstar for getting everything organized. Thank you so much!

DinoMom I am not a sewer either …lol originally I was getting someone to make it into a throw blanket for you with the piece being in the center , but the person who was going to do it for me got very I‘ll and couldn‘t do it in time. I wasn‘t going to send it , then through I could use to wrap up the gift ! 1y

Yes yes and yes! A modern slasher with a classic feel in a book. I didn‘t know I was craving this until I was reading it. Sure I called the killer early but that did NOT ruin my enjoyment of this! What a fun and brutal ride.
