Famous People: A Novel | Justin Kuritzkes

Pickpick

This was a surprise #backlist library hit!

A mid-20s musician who shot to fame as a kid reflects back on his father and stepfather issues, his odd friendship with a Danish environmentalist, and a surprising decision that his first love, and fellow pop icon, makes mid-writing.

This fell so close to 5⭐️. Highly recommend the #audiobook of this novel!

BiblioLitten Sounds promising. Stacked! 2y
Megabooks @BiblioLitten 👍🏻👍🏻 enjoy! 2y
Cinfhen Scribd doesn‘t have it 😭😭maybe #Hoopla or #OverDrive but my library isn‘t as good as yours 2y

Holidays on Ice | David Sedaris
post image
Pickpick

I get why this collection isn‘t for everyone but for me, listening to Sedaris share his days as a Macy‘s Holiday Elf was priceless. And when he describes the traditions associated with Christmas Eve around the world, I was laughing out loud. I‘ve heard Sedaris read a few of these personal essays before and they are STILL just as funny. His delivery is always perfect.

Nute I just picked up David Sedaris‘s The Best of Me because I read that he is really funny. Thanks for the endorsement of that sentiment.🙂 2y
GypsyKat Adding this to my December TBR! 2y
Cinfhen I recently listened to the audio of Best of Me @Nute and I definitely laughed a lot. His humor is a little dark but I find him so endearing - his personal family essays are ridiculous!! I hope you enjoy 😊 (edited) 2y

I just saw this in one of our local library‘s newsletters. It‘s disappointing to me. I have both downloaded and have tried Libby several times but I just don‘t care for it as much as Overdrive. I find it more difficult to find books of interest. Hopefully they‘ll make some improvements.
#Overdrive #Libby

Well-ReadNeck @megnews I agree with you 💯 I prefer functionality over “features”. 2y
marleed Oh dang, I‘m not a fan of the Libby functionality either and find Overdrive much easier to navigate. 2y
Crazeedi I loved overdrive, but have been using libby and starting to like it a whole lot more. 2y

fredamans That sucks. Never used Libby but love Overdrive. 2y
megnews @Crazeedi I‘m trying because it sounds like overdrive will be phased out end of 2022. 2y
Crazeedi @megnews it's really very good, I have been using for about a year, and actually haven't even gone on overdrive, it's pretty easy to navigate, has good features, especially if you belong to different libraries, I belong to 3 different ones. So you can see if a book title available from each 2y
megnews @Crazeedi if you search for a book can you see the list of of libraries it‘s available when you have multiple libraries? Or do you have to switch between libraries? I can‘t seem to see all of them at one time. 2y
Crazeedi @megnews I'm posting a photo of where you see other libraries 2y
sblbooks I'm disappointed. I love overdrive. 2y

#Pakistan through the eyes of Kim Barker was the epitome of the wild Wild West in 2008/2009. A place full of absurdities and unseen dangers. Like her experiences in Afghanistan, Kim often found herself in both ridiculous and reckless situations. I thought this book was a little on the lite side but still compelling and entertaining. Happy I picked this up for #FoodAndLit @Texreader @Butterfinger Audio was great 😊 #OverDrive

Megabooks Sounds interesting! 3y
Butterfinger Great review!! 3y
Cinfhen Thanks @Butterfinger @TheAromaofBooks I think you‘d might get annoyed with Kim @Megabooks or you might be entirely entertained, like I was. Memoir was made into a movie starting Tina Fey: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (FYI) 3y

My Favorite Authors | Thomas Costley
post image

It‘s May, time to bring out our Jacqueline Woodson books for #AuthorAMonth. What are you planning to read?

#AuthorAMonth is a no-pressure challenge, read as many or as few as you like. The authors were voted on by Litsy, see list for the year above.

At the end of the year there will be one prize box going to the person who read the most books. To qualify the books must be finished during the author‘s month. (More info⬇️)

Soubhiville Randomly drawn prizes will be chosen from the list of participants- for these prizes you only have to have read at least one book during the year that qualifies, and must still be an active Litsy user.

As always, let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the tag list. 🙂📚. Happy Reading!
