Entertaining audiobook, but it didn‘t really feel like a thriller. More gossipy and not suspenseful until near the end.

This was an entertaining thriller, I just didn't connect with or care about any of the characters, but that is more on me not on the actual book itself (which is why I still rated it 3 stars) I just found all of the characters to be unlikeable and I wasn't invested in what happened. I preferred The Wife Upstairs from this author. ⭐⭐⭐#tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #thestorygraph #getlitsy #bookqueen
This book was given to me by a family member because it was so good she thought I had to read it. #29 of 2023
I have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed it and found it to be a quick read. However, it felt a bit slow at times and I wanted/needed more action. I though the plot/storyline had great promise and while the ending delivered, I am not sure the lead up to those events matched the energy of the last couple chapters. Overall I would recommend because it was entertaining.

July 15, 2023 This book was very violent towards the end because well, hmmm, should I even say what happens at the end? Nah!!! I WANT you to read it yourself. Hint: Some ppl do die at the end. Maybe I should say five (however I am not saying WHO). Please let me know your thoughts. My rating for the book is a 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really enjoyed this. I think summer or on vacation is a great time to read it. Nothing like tropical seas, deserted islands paired with lies, murder and deceit.
July 13, 2023 On page 223 out of 309 and I have reached the climax of the book. This book definitely has some "reckless girls" in it. Brittany and Amma are good friends, Jake and Eliza are a couple, and Nico and Lux are a couple. However, things get weird when Amma hooks up and sleeps with Nico because her bf died in a car accident and Nico reminds her of her ex. Sadly, Lux does not have anyone to go to now. She also knows about J & E: secrets
July 11, 2023 Happy Prime Day. Tomorrow is also Prime Day but i am not into it. I am on page 120 and have finally gotten to some suspenseful parts. I cannot wait to read on and see what happens next. I am on the section where Lux, Nico, Brittany, Amma, Jake, and Eliza are all on an island in Hawaii and Lux stumbles upon a skull. Whose skull could it be? How long was it there for?
So my plans got a bit rained out today, but I still wanted to go to my local winery/Christmas tree farm to get a few bottles togo, I listen to the tagged book on the way as they are sailing through a storm to an atoll off of Hawaii. I decided to have a glass as the rain had let up for maybe the first 90 seconds I was there, then started down pouring & seeking shelter I found this friend 😂
What a great beach read!! I‘ve never read anything of Hawkins‘ before and this one definitely makes me want to try her other thrillers. In this, a group of 20 somethings sail to a remote tropical island where things are as beautiful as they are deadly! A page-turning, quick read. Look at these sweet flowers on the dune along our path to the beach 😍
Perfect beach reading!
I liked this one for a quick, easy read with #IslandVibes for #TitlesandTunes It‘s by no means perfect & I thought the twists were pretty easy to guess, but the tension was built up nicely & it kept me turning the pages. I liked the atmospheric remote island setting, beautiful but creepy & menacing. Overall a decent summer thriller & I am happy to have it off my #BOTM TBR stack at last! 🌺📚
My picks for May‘s #TitlesAndTunes
I chose Reckless Girls to finally get it off my #BOTM #TBR & because it looks quick & entertaining & the cover screams #IslandVibe 🌺
My song pick is Island from Miley Cyrus because the lyrics ask “Am I stranded on an island? Or have I landed in paradise?” which seems fitting for a thriller on an isolated island. 🏝️
I didn't love this one greatly, I didn't enjoy or relate to any of the characters.
It was an ok book, I listened to the audiobook via BorrowBox.
Read for reading challenges.
3.5/5
I liked this book! It was a fun and easy read and I would recommend it for someone going on vacation or looking for something not too deep.
I liked this one a lot! It definitely kept my interest and some of the twists were unexpected. I thought a few were predictable but there was a lot that took me by surprise. I liked the setting and the different perspectives. The ending was perfect, in my opinion and I thought this was a quick read with a plot that kept me hooked.

Pretty interesting story. I really liked the characters and the intro to the story.

I did not enjoy a single thing about this book. 🤷🏽♀️🎧
I love the vibrant cover! The narrator was great and the story kept me interested but the writing isn‘t great and the f-bomb was grossly overused with most every character. I don‘t care for edge of your seat suspense so I was okay with it only being mildly suspenseful, but I felt the story fell short of it‘s potential.
⭐️ I listened to this one and was not thrilled. I get this was trying to say that privileged boys can‘t keep getting away with bad behavior but it was executed so weakly. It was not shocking and the whole point fell apart at the end. This one was not for me.
Vacation on a deserted island with strangers they just met and more strangers arriving spells a recipe for disaster for Lux McAllister and her boyfriend Nico. Paradise isn‘t always what it seems. I didn‘t love the ending of this book but in all it was a fast read with a few good twists.
Wow, Hawkins does it again. I love her modern takes on classics. The Wife Upstairs was a 4 and a half star read for me and Reckless Girls was too. I will check out anything she puts out ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mostly fun, with good atmosphere & dark undercurrent. The characters are interesting, but some wind up being cardboard cutouts. A lot of suspense & plenty of twists & turns, but the pacing occasionally drags. I figured most of the “reveal“ very early on, so the ending didn't pack a lot of punch. There are high stakes & tense action, but at no point was I on the edge of my seat. Still, the journey was mostly entertaining & I don't regret my read.
Book 111
I listened to Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins. A suspense thriller about 20-somethings long-term traveling via boat who end up at a creepy, uninhabited island. The twists seem obvious but go farther than anticipated. A decent listen but not memorable. 3.5 stars
This was a really fun, quick, summer thriller. Good beach read as it's set in Hawaii! ⛱️

This was a fun read to breeze through while trying to wait out the heat. My AC is working really hard on this 100 degree day, but it‘s still over 80 in the house so I‘m feeling a little low energy. I read this all today, and it was enjoyable. I might read other books by this author.
I read this in one day and therefore I clearly didn‘t hate the reading experience but what made this a so-so for me was the ending (I feel like I missed something, but in reading other reviews maybe I didn‘t). I also could have done with less man hating.
It kinda feels like I‘m doing tbr posts twice a week now. This summer is flying by. But anyhow the calendar said it‘s time for my July tbr, so here are a few books I‘m reading. I‘m probably going to take a step back from fantasy so I don‘t burn myself out. Plus, I‘m craving something spooky. What are you reading this month?

Maybe because I was primed to have low expectations for the ending or maybe because other endings of thrillers are worse... Either way, I thought this was solid all the way though including the ending! I really enjoyed this crazy weird story!
I actually liked the book up until the super wild and rushed ending. I knew it was a thriller but didn‘t read as such until everything took a left turn at the end. So much happened all at once that it took away from an otherwise good story. I actually had to go back and read a couple parts because it all happened so fast.⭐️⭐️⭐️
Brittany and Anna contract Nico to go to Menroe a small and isolated island located in the Pacific Ocean to celebrate their last semester in college. Nico‘s girlfriend, Luz was also invited. When they arrived there were two more persons in the island. The are rumors that the island is cursed and you can become mad. Unlikely characters. Nothing about them is true and the worst of them will be revealed in the island. Will they survive? It was ok⬇️
Alright, according to reviewers, I will not get my hopes up about an ending, bit I'm looking forward to a summer page turner (audiobook)
⭐️⭐️⭐️
The premise of this book seemed very interesting, but the part of the plot that is described in the book‘s synopsis doesn‘t even happen until after halfway through the story. The story was okay in general but I honestly thought that the ending was pretty ‘meh‘.
Reading poolside today. I have nine school days left, but today feels like summer. #teachersoflitsy
Relatively compelling but also quite absurd? I wouldn‘t say Reckless Girls was a bad read, because I read it in a day and didn‘t really ever feel compelled to put it aside. But, reckless is a generous adjective for girls who were in the end, just quite silly. I was glad when the action picked up in the final third but also this is where the absurd vibes really came in. Am I mad I read this? Not really.
Stopped at my library yesterday & picked up Reckless Girls and The Magnolia Palace.
I'm starting with Reckless Girls
4-17-22: Happy Easter 🐣 My 36th finished book of 2022! When Lux and Nico decide to leave their lives in Maui to charter a boat ride to a deserted island for 2 girls named Amma and Brittany, they have no idea what the girls history together is and what it will mean for them. Upon arriving, they meet Eliza and Jake and all goes well for awhile, until it doesn‘t. I liked it but only gave it 3 stars because the ending felt rushed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣3️⃣6️⃣

Deserted Island Thriller
Descent into madness
Oh, the flipping drama…
A deserted island steeped in legends and horrific tales of cannibalism, mind-altering phenomenons, and generally bad ju-ju
An entertaining story that‘s not without its flaws, none of them fatal, although there are some fatal moments for our characters. You can expect many a twisted turn, a few OMG moments, and there‘s even an epilogue.
Just finished this one. I was so curious to see where this book was going and the writing kept you wanting to read so finished it in a day. I am still unsure how I feel about the ending. I was honestly expecting (hoping?) for a different ending but I‘m not sure if I‘m mad about that or not haha. Maybe it‘s a good thing I wasn‘t expecting it? Will be reflecting on that more and may update.
