I‘m not sure where this week went. I only finished the children‘s picture book for the week.

I‘m finishing up The Night Strangers today. I still hope to finish Thorn Birds and Drag before the month is over. I will probably read Pet, but The Luminous Dead might be my first book for July.

I unintentionally took a week off Litsy. I‘m still working on becoming a morning person, but I did manage to read quite a bit this week, all picks.

I may have to return Queer and check it out again later as others are waiting on it. It‘s more academic that I thought It would be. My plan is to have Drag and Thorn Birds finished by end of month. Strangers hasn‘t pulled me in yet, but I‘ve only read 3 chapters.

Cinfhen I recently re-read Thornbirds and I LOVED IT!!!! 1w

I didn‘t read as much as I thought I would this week. The hubs and I are trying to turn ourselves into morning people so most nights I just went to sleep. Empty Mansions was fascinating and I really enjoyed Pumpkin.
I read a lot today and have just a bit left of LB and I‘m almost half way through the JVN audiobook.

Even on vacation this week, it took me a few days to find my reading groove.
Mercy - A random library pick that I enjoyed #Booked2022 #CanadianProvince
Dreamer - loved #RememberingJenny
Boxers - Interesting, part of history I didn‘t know #Booked2022 #China

Loving Mansions on audio and just getting into Lawn Boy. Pumpkin and the Van Ness are my next audiobooks. I‘m not sure what I will start in print after LB.

Jenny gave this one 5 stars on Goodreads and I agree! I loved Nesto and Jude‘s story. Nesto‘s food made me hungry and Jude‘s book love was very relatable. 🤓I also loved the other characters in the book. I look forward to picking up the next one in series.

Thank you @Centique for suggesting we read a book to remember and honor Jenny. 💗

May #BookspinBingo wrap up

I finished 1 more just before midnight last night!

No bingos for May as I read off list a bit. I read 14 books and I put two books on ice for a little bit.

3 adult fiction print
1 manga
2 comic volumes
3 graphic novels
2 children‘s books
3 audiobooks (read partially in print)

I bailed on #aam , but may try again later. I also didn‘t get to my #bookspin or #doublespin picks.

Due to a cold and the book festival on Saturday, I didn‘t get much reading done this week and only finished Getaway. I‘m still pushing on with Growing Up Dead. I have barely started the other three, but I hope to finish them all this week.

Bookzombie @Cinfhen It was so great to be back in person. I listed the authors on my book festival post and tagged the books they talked about. This year I hadn‘t read anything by any of the authors and now I want to read them all. Lol. Of the ones saw, Emma Straub is the biggest name probably. 1mo

While I don‘t think the writing is a good as the last book I reviewed, I also devoured this one in print and on audio. Candace Swain disappeared after her sorority‘s party for a week and then was found dead. I knew who the killer was fairly quickly and some of the story was ⬇️

This has been on my TBR at least since I read Beukes‘ Broken Monsters in 2016. I didn‘t know I would love it and I wish I had picked it up sooner. I thought I might not love the time travel aspect and was wrong. In fact, that may be why I loved this. The writing made me feel like I stepped in to each time period with the character. Plus, it‘s gritty and about a serial killer. I found I didn‘t want to put this down so I listened and read in print.

EvieBee Nice review! I have the audio book checked out. Might be my next read! 1mo

This has been languishing on my TBR for years and I finally picked it up due the ridiculous banning in TN. Spiegelman‘s work is powerful and it‘s important to hear his father‘s story. The book is not only about the Holocaust though. It‘s also about the author‘s relationship with his parents, especially his father. I can‘t recommend this graphic novel enough.

I enjoyed this one. I requested the library purchase it a while ago. I must have forgot ‘erotic‘ was in the summary, because I didn‘t expect as much sex, lol. The romance is sweet, but some of the characters could have been fleshed out a little more and the story could have had more depth. I enjoyed the historical notes in the back.

Finished 3/6 #reviewcatchup

This is book 4 in the Kat Holloway/Below Stairs mysteries. I continue to enjoy this series. I love Kat, house cook/sleuth, and her band of friends, Daniel, James, Tess, and Lady Cynthia. I sometimes find myself more worried about her job when she slips away from the kitchen for too long than I do other dangers.
Even though this is set later and in England, I think this has a similarity to the Lady Darby series.

Read 3/2 #reviewcatchup

Even though I still keep puzzling about whether or not these are some kind of HP fan fiction (one character felt a little like Dolores Umbridge in this one), I am enjoying this series. I like most of the characters and the idea of Mrs. Brickett‘s. #Booked2022 #newin2022

Read 2/28 #reviewcatchup

This is another from @Patchshank ‘s #NYWD list that I had on TBR for ages and was happy to finally get to. I love the artwork and the creepiness of this southern gothic story. I have the next two volumes in from the library to read soon.

Patchshank I really enjoyed this one. Its so weird. 3mo
Bookzombie @Patchshank Me too! Thanks for putting it on your list. 3mo

“Hello, I‘m Rozzum unit 7134, but you may call me Roz.”
Roz awakes (after curious otters push the button on the back of her head) to find she is on an island. She doesn‘t know where she is from, but begins to explore and learn. Initially the animals distrust Roz, but through kindness she makes friends. She finds family and a home in the wild, until a past she is unaware of catches up to her.

These were so enjoyable! 💗

TheBookHippie I have been promoting these for years! They are so good! When the first one came out I insisted it be in the school library and the librarian fell in love with it so much she actually got several copies for classrooms too. So fun. 3mo
Bookzombie @TheBookHippie Yay! I love that! I‘m excited to give them to my nephew in a year or two. I was on the author‘s website and it looks like he is working on a third one, but there is no publication date so far. 3mo

When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball - I wasn‘t previously familiar with Rudolph. This is about her childhood before she became an Olympic gold medal winner. Pick! This book has been challenged in Texas. ☹️

The Big Bath House - I loved this celebration of Japanese traditions and female body positivity of all types and ages.

Aaron Slater, Illustrator - A great addition to the series. **I‘m in no way related to the illustrator. 🙂

Virgil Wounded Horse is the resident vigilante on the reservation stepping in when the community is unable to prosecute and the federal government fails to take action. Then heroine shows up on the reservation and his nephew becomes entangled. I enjoyed this one even though I did see the ending coming. I hope we will get another Virgil book in the future. #Booked2022 #weathertermintitle
