#BFCr4 Week 1 Check-In: Finished 1/4 books (tagged). Ran once, for my 5K race, but my knee isn't 100% and I haven't run in 2 weeks, so it was a hard run. Before my injury I was on track to break 30 min, now I was just thankful to finish the race. I had fun and everyone was nice and it felt so good to get back to running! On the whole a good week. 👍🏃‍♀️ #BFC #RunningonReading #audiorun @wanderinglynn @BarbaraJean @Catlover23 @hermyknee

Got an #audiowalk in to get groceries. 💕 Love living somewhere that makes it so easy to walk to so many places!

I have to say, I'm on book 3 of this trilogy and can see why Christian parents (and potentially Jewish or Muslim parents) would be concerned about their children reading these books. Censorship is not the right option though! If my non-existent child wanted to read these books, I would just read the books with them and talk about them!

Reading some more of these stories before bed. Loving this collection of Japanese ghost stories!! ❤️ #SerialReader

I'm not currently in the zone of PG&E power shut offs in the Bay Area, but I'm very close to it, so if the wind changes my power will be shut off. (Our electric company is shutting off power in much of the area due to high fire risk, and it could take up to 6 days for power to be restored.) Crossing my fingers.🤞

nelehelen Ahh hope you don‘t get affected! I‘m in the city but my work is in the red zone... soooo I‘m not sure if I‘m supposed to go to work tomorrow. Guess we‘ll just seee! 6d

Last night I enjoyed a Mashrou' Leila concert in San Francisco! And I stood up the whole time, something I could not have done a year ago with the fibromyalgia! And now we're starting #BFCr4, and I'm so excited, but I'm also dealing with an ITBS knee injury and can't run right now. 💔 Not sure yet how I'll adjust my goals due to that, and I still hope to run the 5K race on Saturday, just not with the time I was aiming for. #BFC @wanderinglynn

Decided to use my #audiorun today to break up a long morning of readings! Felt soooo tired but I got out there and did a 5K anyway. 👍 It feels like just yesterday that I couldn't run a 5K without a walk break even during a race, and now on a tired day my slowest mile was 11:08 min/mi. 🏃‍♀️ Also this #audiobook (middle grade fantasy) is such a fun escape from coursework. 😊

Great stress-relieving morning #audiorun! Love looking at the murals on the Ohlone Greenway. My last half mile was uphill and felt pretty challenging, but I ran by an unhoused man with whom I had exchanged smiles and waves at the beginning of my run, and he cheered me on enthusiasticly. He made me feel like I was running a race and near the finish line! I got that end-of-race burst of energy, and my last half mile ended up being my fastest. 😊

Squeezed a run in this morning before heading to the seminary, somehow during the only 20 minutes of rain in the whole day. 😂 It was a drizzle when I first got out there, but quickly became heavy rain. School is absolutely crazy right now and I don't have a second of spare time, so it was restorative and reinvigorating to do a fast run even if it took time away from schoolwork! #audiorun

Y'all it was such a gorgeous morning and I've been dying to run for the last 11 days of not running and I couldn't resist. I jogged around my apartment in my brace first to make sure my knee could handle it. Thank goodness for knee braces!!! 🏃‍♀️👍😊 (Bit bummed out that I feel less fit after those 11 days... I've finished one more book (tagged) for #BFC since classes started! While meal prepping a couple days ago. But maybe all of the reading I've been doing for classes counts for something? 😂 I have an intensive course that's eating up my Fridays and Saturdays for now, and when that's over I should be able to get into a better rhythm! Also still wearing a knee brace and not running, it's driving me crazy! #BookFitnessChallenge #bookdragons #BFCr3

Scochrane26 I count books about therapy most of the time, and I‘m sure you‘re reading a lot for seminary. In my presbytery, we recently examined a new pastor for ordination, & she said she‘s happy to be done w/ seminary because she can actually read books for pleasure again. 1mo
Caterina @Scochrane26 I have 6 courses, 15 textbooks, and lots of PDFs, but I haven't technically finished any books yet. 😂 But when I do finish some I'll be sure to count them! 👍 I think I'll probably only get reading for pleasure in through audiobooks during seminary - thank goodness for those! So relaxing to cook or run or clean while listening. 😊 1mo

#BFC #BFCR3 #BookFitnessChallenge #bookdragons check-in: This was a hard week. Monday I hurt my knee and I walk everywhere so I haven't been able to rest it enough for it to heal. I haven't run since Monday and feel like I'm going stir crazy. I also had a long intense first week of classes, including 7 hours in class today. And I've been having medical problems induced by a medication mix-up with the pharmacy and my doctor. @Hestapleton ⬇️

Caterina Pictured is yesterday's sunset. I was at a BBQ with my fellow seminarians at a park, and we sang Holden Evening Prayer after dinner. It was a perfect evening that was much needed during such a hard week. I'm gonna keep on keeping on and next week might be better! @wanderinglynn 1mo

Forced myself to return to this #audiobook today. The romance has been driving me crazy for the last few hours, and I still have over 6 hours left and don't know if I can take it. 😬

Caterina @Crazeedi Thank you Diane!! ❤️❤️🥰🥰 1mo
Caterina @cleoh Thank you! I'm starting my Master of Divinity at Lutheran seminary. 😊 @Lcsmcat I don't think the Lutheran church uses the term postulant, so I'm not sure what it means. I'm an MDiv student and I'm in the early stages of the candidacy process towards being a Minister of Word and Service /deacon in the ELCA! 1mo
Lcsmcat @Caterina Sorry - because you‘re in Berkeley I thought Episcopal. A Postulant in the Episcopal church is headed towards the priesthood, rather than the perpetual diaconate, or an academic MDiv. (You still get an MDiv, but you‘ve jumped through more hoops and gotten sponsored by a parish and a bishop.) 1mo
Caterina @Lcsmcat I'll be in some classes with Episcopalians! My seminary is part of the Graduate Theological Union. Hmm well for the ELCA both pastors and deacons get MDivs and have 1 year of internship and have to go through the same long candidacy process through our synods (like dioceses) and get ordained. 1mo
Lcsmcat @Caterina That‘s very similar, which isn‘t surprising since we‘re in full communion. 😀 1mo

Started this audiobook yesterday because my hold came in unexpectedly early and it has a longer wait list than The Night Tiger, so I really need to finish it before it's due. I didn't read The Golden Compass in middle school when everyone was talking about it, since I lived in the Bible Belt and people said it was an evil propaganda tool from the atheists. 😂 Now I have many Christian friends who love it so I figured I'd give it a go! Good so far.

Scochrane26 Because us christians should never read anything that might have a different opinion. It might corrupt us. 😂🙄 1mo
Caterina @Scochrane26 Right? 😂🤷 I was told it wasn't a good book, just cheap propaganda, so I figured I wouldn't bother reading it. Turns out that was a lie rooted in the fear of people who didn't want to expand their views - I shouldn't be surprised. I would've loved this book as a kid and it wouldn't've threatened my faith a lick! 🙄 1mo

Okay y'all this guy is in Europe learning how to preserve old churches and was surprised to find out that pigeon poop is the biggest threat, so the priest at this church is a falconer. And as someone who studied abroad at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome I CAN CONFIRM that pigeon poop is a huge issue and falconry is still the main way to deal with it. They hire falconers to scare pigeons away from Pompeii all the time. 😂🤣

Decided to run a little faster than my usual, comfortable pace of 12:00-12:30 min/mi today. It was fun to push myself, although I still love my easy runs too. My run this morning outside Salinas, at Fort Ord National Monument. It's the longest I've run so far, and it was preceded by about a mile of steep uphill hiking. That got us up to the top of the beautiful rolling hills! My dad ran with me the whole time, even though he's much faster than I am, so no audiobook today. Wonderful last run on the road. 💕 Today we reach Berkeley! #BFC #BookFitnessChallenge #BFCr3 #bookdragons

TheSpineView Beautiful place to run/walk! Excellent job on the run! 💝 2mo
kspenmoll What a beautiful place to run! So wonderful to share with your dad. 2mo

We are at the end of day 12 of traveling. We've made it from North Carolina to California, and on Wednesday we'll reach Berkeley and start getting me settled in my apartment (while I can still use our rented minivan for buying furniture!). I LOVE traveling, but this evening I'm very excited to drink some herbal mint tea and read a book (bought in Santa Fe) and relax. Not even eating a real dinner because I'm DONE! 😂

JSW Welcome to CA!! ❤️❤️❤️ 2mo
Caterina @JSW Thank you!! ❤️ You're the first person to welcome me to CA. 😊 2mo
JSW @Caterina yeah, we aren‘t the friendliest state lol. Especially if you‘re coming from the South; my Southern friends comment on how unfriendly people here are. My opinion is that it‘s because there are so many people coming and going from CA that it takes us awhile to connect and make friends- we want to make sure you‘re sticking around before we commit. It‘s not personal. ❤️ (edited) 2mo

Caterina @JSW I'm not holding it against y'all 😉 As we've driven across the country I've found that most places aren't as friendly as the South, and that's fine! I'm excited for a new adventure in a new place. I haven't reached my new home yet - we're still driving up the coast - but I'm sure I'll settle in well with my seminary folks at least! 😊 2mo
JSW @Caterina I‘m in Santa Cruz, so wave as you cross through! The CA Coast is my favorite place in the world. It‘s just gorgeous. Enjoy your drive. ❤️❤️❤️ 2mo
JSW And what seminary are you going to? 2mo
JSW I grew up in the East Bay and still go up to see my mom, Berkeley is a hop away. Would love to meet up sometime! 2mo

Last #audiorun at high elevation! Today we drive 8 hours to Bakersfield, CA, which is ~400 feet above sea level, vs. my last 4 runs: Santa Fe ~7000, Albuquerque ~5000, Grand Canyon ~7000, and today, Flagstaff ~7000. Today was my 3rd run in a row, and I could feel it!! And on gravel, which is an extra workout! 😂 #BFC #BFCr3 #BookFitnessChallenge #bookdragons

Without a doubt the most beautiful place I've ever run. No audiobook, I wanted to focus on being present. Got up at 4 AM to head up to Hopi Point and watch the stars (4 shooting stars included), dawn, and sunrise. Then at 6:20 AM I started my run down the trail!
#BFC check-in: got my 4 runs in this week and finished one book (tagged). Good week. 👍😊 #BFCr3 #BookFitnessChallenge #bookdragons @Hestapleton @wanderinglynn

#Audiorun at 6:15 am on the Rio Grande River Trail in Albuquerque, New Mexico! Listened to one of the tagged Great Course lectures - I've had the course sitting in my Audible since it was a Daily Deal, but now that I'm in NM (visited the Puye Cliffs and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in the last couple days) I'm finally listening to it! Really enjoyed my beautiful, flat run today. 💕 #BFC #BookFitnessChallenge #BFCr3 #bookdragons

Quick little #audiorun at 6:15 am on my first morning in Santa Fe! I think the elevation was getting to me a bit - I'm used to running at close to sea level, and Santa Fe is 7,199 feet above sea level. 😵 We all got a little bit of altitude sickness coming in last night, but we're hydrating well. 👍 Started listening to the tagged audiobook! I loved The Hate U Give, so I'm excited about this one! 😊 #BookFitnessChallenge #BFC #BFCr3 #bookdragons

Scochrane26 I had a hard time w/ altitude in Sedona. It was my first time, too. 2mo
kindergartenkat Awesome that you ran anyway! 👏 I loved On the Come Up! I hope you enjoy it 2mo
TheSpineView Good job! I could never get up that early for a run! 2mo
