I was curious to read Yardley's earlier work. This was a contemporary vanilla steamy romance between two restaurant chefs. The conflict/obstacle was mild and not particularly self-inflicted, which I always appreciate. Lots of cooking, and sex in cupboards.

BarkingMadRead I enjoyed this one. It‘s not typical King for sure, but it kept me interested the whole time, and I was so sad that it ended the way it did! 2y

Erinsuereads I loved this one too!!! At first it was kind of meh but it really crept up on me. I was rooting for blaze by the end in a weird way. I enjoyed that it had a somewhat simpler plot too, it made his character writing shine. 2y

NikkiM5 Today was a travel day, so sorry for the late post. Blaze was excellent, I was into it right from start. I loved how the MC became attached to the baby; it caused some teary eye moments🥹. I always love MC and side character backstories, and as usual, King did not disappoint. 2y

Addison_Reads @BarkingMadRun I knew it wasn't going to happen but I also wanted him to be able to get away with the baby. The connection King wrote between them made me at times forget that the baby didn't belong with him. I loved that about this book how I felt attached to the "bad" guy. 2y

The Harlequin Blaze line was known for lots of steamy sex but that's not what made me want to read this book. I was truly intrigued by the prospect of a cowboy vampire. Jake arrives in a small Texas town with one goal in mind: to find and kill the vampire who turned him so he could be human again. Nikki has felt pressured to please others but just wants to be herself. Quirky characters rounded out this fun story.
