Apple cheddar pie for book group. Bits of crust and filling taste great. Can't wait to slice into it. I suspect I'll want more cheese so I'll probably incorporate it into the dough. I also have to work on my crust crimping skills.

I had to make 7 pies for Thanksgiving and freaked out--bought this book. The pecan ginger bourbon pie was fantastic!! Everyone said it was the best ever. Banoffe, not quite, because of making caramel from boiling evaporated milk. Would be great with regular caramel. What's yr favorite pie book?

Audrey So glad the pecan bourbon pie was a hit. I'm making the apple cheddar pie next week for book group. It's also a practice pie for an informal apple pie contest in January. Not a pie book, but I love Dorie Greenspan and her desserts. I met her yesterday and she was so charming, nice and fun. Her new cookie book is fab.

Audrey Yes, sharp cheddar is what I was thinking, along with al dente apples. Years ago, I made an apple crisp like thing with a biscuity topping. Cheddar in the topping and worked out so deliciously. What were the other 6 kinds of pie? 7y
