This was such a cute book. I haven‘t cried happy tears while reading in a while. Damien was a little reminiscent of Mr. Darcy and I immediately wanted to watch Pride & Prejudice (the 2005 version 😉).

Next up - a recommendation I stumbled across on Tiktok.
Highly recommend the audiobook. Ben Barnes does a great job. I wouldn‘t have been nearly as engaged without the cast & sound effects in the recording.
This has been an awful reading year for me, but I‘m jumping into #bookspinbingo for one last month! I‘ve been reading a lot of kindle unlimited books lately, so I think I‘m getting back in the swing of it.
Reading this for a book club and I‘m not sure… so many co-workers were raving about it as a brilliant summer read. That always makes me nervous 🙃
Recently read all 4 of these and really enjoyed them. Are they all some variation of the same plot? Yes. Are they still pretty cute? Also yes. Faking with Benefits was the first one I read, so I think that‘s why I liked it most, but I‘d say these are all worth a read if you like reverse harem romance!
I adore Tessa Bailey‘s books so far. I started with My Killer Vacation and loved It Happened One Summer right after. Definitely want to read the sequel soon.
I ended up really enjoying Book Lovers! It was pretty cute and not too cringey. I liked Beach Read a little less, probably because I read it second and there were some plot similarities that left me a bit bored. Overall I‘m definitely an Emily Henry fan.
This has been the weirdest reading year I‘ve had in a while. I feel like 3 out of 4 weeks of every month have just been slumps. I just finished It Happened One Summer this week, so I‘m hoping another cute read will help!
June is ready to go! Now, to decide what to read first 🥲
It‘s once again been a while, but I have 13 days of school left to teach and I cannot wait to finally have days back to myself and my books 😊 I love teaching, but wow do I need a break after this year. Looking forward to making a dent in my TBR and joining a few readathons from the beach.
Compared to my last read, I thought this was worlds better. Multiple first person POVs and jumps in time to before and after the suspicious murder. I don‘t always like first person, but I felt like I knew the characters much more thoroughly in this book. The plot itself was pretty good, with some good red herrings.
This week has been super busy, but I‘ve been sporadically reading this and liking it! I also got The Paris Apartment by the same author and am eager to read that one, too.
Next up!! The first couple books in the series were good, quick reads; looking forward to finishing the rest.
The plot had potential, but I didn‘t care for the writing style. Present tense, frequent shifts in POV with each character, and a lot of straightforward “telling” sentences that didn‘t hold my interest. I don‘t usually mind multiple POVs, but I didn‘t feel like I ever had a grasp of who was who the entire book. Might try another from this author, but this one was not for me.
First read of the month! Trying to build some momentum from a good end of February. March tends to be the month I get busy or distracted and endlessly scroll on my phone until it‘s suddenly summer.
Got my list! Some books carried over… some added on. My mystery kick isn‘t helping my tbr, just making it longer 😂 #bookspin #bookspinbingo #19 #3
I had high hopes for this locked room mystery, but it ended up being pretty average. I sped through the end to find out what happened, but I didn‘t feel very invested in the main character. If I had read this before The Woman in the Window, I think I would have liked it more, but it fell a little flat for me in comparison. Book 3 for #kicktheslump! I met my goal, woohoo!
This ended up being fairly middle of the road. It kept my interest for a while, but towards the end became slightly predictable and ultimately too unbelievable. The final reveal was just not convincing. However, great setting, and the epilogue does make me want to try out the second book when it comes out later this year.
Just past halfway and this is getting stressful!! I thought I figured it out, but not quite. Excited to see how it ends.
I‘m doing terrible with my tbr & #bookspinbingo board this month…. but here‘s my next thriller! My husband and I both bought a few this week, and I‘ve really enjoyed how engaging and fast this genre can be.
This was unexpectedly good! I saw mixed reviews, and the Netflix film is apparently terrible, but this was a fast-paced read with some great twists I didn‘t except at all. #kicktheslump Got at least 1 book read for this readathon, and a snow storm tomorrow to keep me inside! ❄️
Perfect timing for a little readathon!! My goal is three books this week! | @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES #kicktheslump
On a mini birthday vacation in Portland, ME and picked this up! I‘m in the middle of a few books. Going to try and catch up during school vacation this week. Cheers to 30 years 🎂🥳
This #dramione has been on my tbr for a while. My other current read is a physical book; when my husband goes to bed early (which is most nights 😂) and I want to read a little later in bed… kindle fanfic it is 😎
Another Friday snow day! Going to try and make some progress with this one. I had previously started and abandoned it when I got distracted by life. Excited to read it again, and hopefully finish the trilogy this time.
My February board, with a slight change from my list since I put the same book twice 😂 I have a school vacation week in two weeks, so I hope I can get at least 8 books read this month! It‘s also my birthday month, which means… more books! Exactly what I need with my tbr 🤪 #bookspinbingo
My February list! Excited to make my bingo board tonight.
My 7th graders are reading this novel as part of a narrative unit. It‘s definitely not my favorite, but it could be worse. I don‘t usually like adventure/survival novels, so this was very average. Some kids love it, others can‘t wait to be done (and I‘m with them 😂).
I adored this little book. It‘s a little like Holes, with an old family curse that needs to be resolved, but the way the author weaves the story is truly magical. A great story for elementary/middle grade level, but anyone can read and enjoy this one. And, it‘s my #doublespin for January!
Blizzard read number two. Even in the first few pages, I already love the writing. I posted a few days ago about Natalie Lloyd‘s upcoming book, but wow I just love her style, especially for middle grade novels.
I love this series! Number two was great. A quick, fun read. Hades is my #1, but Eros is a close second 🥰
Very excited for this summer release. I love Natalie Lloyd‘s The Key to Extraordinary. It helped me process (some of) my grief from losing my sister a few years ago. This new book‘s protagonist has OI, the rare bone disease that my late sister had (& the author as well). I already know I‘m going to cry through the whole thing, but it‘ll be worth it. I hope you‘ll check out this author and this book in August.
I had no idea this came out this week! I loved Neon Gods last year. Very glad I decided to go to the bookstore today, and hoping to start this tonight.
And tonight‘s final update, since I‘m on a roll for once, my next read. I‘ve got a feeling mystery/thriller might be my preferred genre this year. Any recommendations? I particularly enjoy locked room mysteries 🕵🏻
I ended up actually finishing this! And really enjoyed it. The plot was engrossing and I needed to know what would happen next.
Today, one of my students surprised me with two Rainbow Rowell books! With my name!! By far one of the coolest gifts I‘ve ever received. One of the student‘s relatives is good friends with the author! What a small world.
Borrowed from a friend. I‘ve been in such a slump lately; hopefully, this one hooks me.
Okay, I‘ve got my list! Mostly comprised of titles from last year‘s lists 😂 #bookspin #bookspinbingo
The last few months got away from me, and I didn‘t complete my challenge for 2021. However, I am feeling reinvigorated and am going to make an attempt to read at least 3 books this month. Might even make a bingo board 🤩
I didn‘t forget, just behind schedule! Trying to jump back into reading. Making my #bookspinbingo card next!
I‘ve been so indecisive lately about what to read next. I have a poll going in my classroom to have my students choose for me 😂 But I‘ve just been in a slump again. Going to try out October‘s book club book next. I also wrote my first blog post in a year (link in bio!!), so maybe I‘ll get back to book reviews again!? I love writing but always forget to post anything 🙃
