I‘m not sure how many times I‘ve read this. This book is always good, always a favorite.

Last Saturday we watched Happy Gilmore 2 and loved it! There were so many good cameos including this one with The Shining. 😆

My favorite book for July was When The Wolf Comes Home, but the current bracket winner is The Shining 🖤

I haven‘t read any of these other books. The only book I‘ve read from this list was the tagged book The Shining and I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the movie. There‘s also a sequel to this book called Doctor Sleep where Danny is all grown up and there‘s also a movie adaptation of that book. I liked the sequel too and the movie adaptation for the sequel was good too but I still like The Shining better.

Worst score of them all. I'm truly pathetic. 🤣 I only read 5, and I only recognized 21. Clearly world literature is NOT my genre of choice.

King famously disliked the film adaptation of The Shining. Having seen the movie several times, I guess I can see his dissatisfaction, but I think Kubrick did a good job. The book is different enough that I got well caught up in the suspense. Very good #constantreader #losersclub

I love this book. It's one of my favorite King books. It's the classic haunted hotel story. Family, who already has issues, moves inside a hotel to take care of it during It's off season and all hell brakes lose.
I would love a prequel with Grady and what happened with his family 🖤

One of my favourite Stephen King books. This was a reread for me. I watched the movie for the first time recently and it was great too but the book had much more interesting character development.

A haunted hotel with giant topiary animals that come alive, sensational! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read somewhere about the similarities in the character Jack and King. Alcoholic, writer, teacher, young family etc. I couldn‘t stand Jack. What a man baby, always playing the victim and he was just plain mean!
Time to finally watch the film, I‘m sure I will be disappointed!

I‘ve read The Shining by Stephen King twice now, and it‘s one of my all-time favorites. I first read it 12 years ago and loved it just as much the second time around. Sure, I knew how the story ended, but I totally forgot a lot of the details.

My daughter‘s favorite book/movie is The Shining. So for her recent birthday her best friend got her this cool book nook. I‘m not that familiar with them, but the attention to detail is incredible (even down to the tiny typewritten sheets on the floor). 🖤

I would like to try Stephen King again. I used to have a short story collection of his, but it didn't do it for me, so I would like to read his more mainstream work.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, you'd think I'd like this book because it's very nerdy but it mostly felt like an excuse to shove as many nerdy references in a book as the author could and it lacked substance.

One of my favorite books, I still loved it equally (if not even more) each time I reread it.

I‘m with Stephen King on this one. The book is way better than the movie. In the book, Jack Torrence‘s journey into madness is eventual. He‘s a recovering alcoholic who is trying to better himself for his wife and son. The Overlook Hotel, where he is the caretaker for the winter months, has a different plan for him…and it‘s not good. #SeriesLove2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

I read it as a teenager in the ‘80s. This time I listened to the audio. I really liked it, but I do suspect it would have been creepier (and I would have been less likely to lose focus) if I‘d read the print. But, having already read the print, I wanted to try the audio. And there were still creepy parts, but it‘s pretty much impossible to get Jack Nicholson out of my head… or Shelley Duval or the actor who played Danny in the original movie.
