pickI found this book to be rather slow, but when it picked up, I really did enjoy it. In my opinion, it could have been spookier, but it was pretty good.

what made you chose this book? I love stephen king novels because they always give me a burst of happiness and I love it.
Summary: Jack torrence is winter caretaker in a colorado hotel. Jack moves into the hotel with his wife and son. soon he discovers that his son had been cursed/plegued. Jack hopes to purse his writing but as it goes nowhere, the family suffers.

pickThis was a re-read for me and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time! Super creepy escapism! I actually finished this a few weeks ago but haven‘t had a chance to post. Jumped right into Doctor Sleep and boy-o-boy was that an incredible book as well! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Found this at Goodwill when dropping off donations 😮! It‘s going to be for my younger son who collects/reads SK in hardback 😊 . So, my book buying ban doesn‘t count. Even if I re-read it someday 😉 — I read this way back in HS from a mass market that I no longer have.

I‘m doing a pretty deep dive before watching ‘Doctor Sleep.‘ (previously read The Shining and and nearly done the Doctor Sleep book)
Watched Kubrick‘s ‘The Shining‘ last night and ‘Room 237‘ tonight.
I found The Shining movie was a little disappointing compared to the book. 237 offers some pretty wild theories about what Kubrick was aiming for in the movie.
Anyone watched these? Thoughts?
Do you think Kubrick directed the 🌙 Landing?!? 🙃
pickThis one was a roll over from October, because I was really enjoying it and wanted to savour it rather than rush it. This is now my favourite King novel. I will have to get Doctor Sleep now!

pickHoly Cannoli, what a book!!! Every SK book I read I say “this is my favorite of his.” Lol I really, really enjoyed this one. The whole trip...satisfying ending. 4.5⭐️My fave character was Hallorann. Good guy. Love the whole “shining” ability- mental telepathy and precognition. Don‘t get me wrong, parts were scary as all get out, but loved it. 1977.

pickI first listened to this on Audible 1 year ago and I enjoyed it. Tonight, I finished listening to it again for #theredrumreadalong that is being hosted on Instagram. The next book I‘ll be listening to for #theredrumreadalong is Doctor Sleep which is perfect because the movie adaptation of Doctor Sleep comes out this month. I‘m interested to see how Dan Torrance has grown up.
Shocker, I‘m on another flight. However, this one is to Portland so a significantly longer flight. I‘m hoping to make a huge dent in this, specifically because it‘s almost due back at the library! 😱

so-soI‘m def in the minority here, I know, but it just goes on for sooo long. It‘s certainly better than the movie.
pickKing's novel offers so much more than the story of a man's descent into homicidal madness. The main theme of employment & its attending difficulties is coupled with the struggles of addiction; these themes are enveloped in a terrifying winter setting (a malicious wonderland). King has a reputation for being a bit too wordy, but his pacing is flawless in this one. The terror is struck from the beginning & he holds the pitch to the final page.
pickOkay, okay. It took me forever (I've been busy) but I FINALLY finished The Shining! Holy guacamole, y'all! I'm so glad I picked it up! So many differences from the movie, so well written, so flippin clever! Now I'm dying to read Doctor Sleep!

This one will be another wintry mix, temperatures will plummet. Forecast indicates 1,300 pages. Early models show this system will leave by Thur. or Friday. Caution around mazes is strongly advised. Stay inside, & drink plenty of warm liquids. Even red ones.
Due to my wimpiness, I‘ve never read this book or seen the movie. But if Joey had to put his copy in the freezer, it must be #ascarybook! 😂😱
