Definitely some funky lines in this book yet it's still struggling to keep my attention. I'll keep pushing through. I'm predicting a 3 star read.
But wow it is nice out. Not too hot, not too cold,m not too windy! So nice to get some fresh air. 🏡🌳🌤

Listening to this short and sweet audiobook.
I'm expecting a good laugh!
Finished! A story within a story with in a story. Definitely not at all what I was expecting.
To be honest, I loved the concept and the depth of the story but found myself either confused or missing details over and over. Im not even sure what happened at the end... 😪😬
I listened to it on audiobook but this classic deserves to be held physically and cherished. I'll have to read it again!
Solid 3.5 stars because I missed a lot of detail.
What 🤣🤣🤣 this so far from the plot.
Im so confused. Lmao.
A look into the capture and unmasking of The Golden State Killer and the unmasking of cold case investigator Paul Holes. This book details Paul's journey with anxiety, PTSD, and panic attacks in the aftermath of facing some of the worst crime scenes in history.
Still amazed I got to see him speak live last month at his book talk. He even signed my copy of this book!
A well-witten story focused on the consequences of reality. 4.5 stars
My bookclubs pick of the month!! This is somewhat outside my reading comfort zone but I think this will be a great book! I love the Avengers and I'm excited to see where some of the characters were inspired!
Also my local library gave me a free muffin. Heck yes. 💯
Ha got a good laugh at this one! The world be a better place by far!
What a great experience!
Met author and retired detective Paul Holes who had a hand in helping to solve the cold case of the Golden State Killer.
He had me laughing but at times he gave goose bumps across my spine. The work he has put in to help bring these many victims justice is just outstanding. But all things come with a cost, including mental health, which is what Paul discusses in his memoir.
Just released today! Can't wait to read!
Never been to a live book talk before. So excited!
Found this gorgeous reading journal at Barnes and Noble earlier today.
It's on my list to purchase soon! 😍
Single as a Pringle. HA
But seriously send help 🙄 😒
Currently at a loss for words about my feelings for this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the suspense, but the ending and my feelings about the characters... I have no idea! Ha I'll have to sleep on it.
My book club meeting is coming up in a week so hopefully I have my thoughts in order!
Regardless, I give it a solid 4.5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 I thought the writing was clever and very anxiety invoking.
What did you think?
This was my first Riley Sager! Cross that off my list!
A game of cat and mouse is about to play out. Josh is a stranger driving Charlie home from college. A stranger who may be the Campus Killer. In order to win, Charlie must do only one thing . . . survive the night.
I liked the concept of this story a lot but it definitely fell flat for me. And like the last thriller I read I found it predictable.
I was happy for the quick read.
3.5 stars.
Cozy on my couch with a book in hand!
Just picked this one up! Hoping for a quick scare!
Thoughts?
Overall was a quick read but at times lacked detail.
Sydney's historically black Brooklyn neighborhood is falling fast and her neighbors are suddenly disappearing without warning. A story about gentrification, conspiracy, suspence, paranoia, greed, and mystery.
It left me with unanswered questions which I understood. The ending felt a bit exaggerated and I predicted the ending very early in so had no shock factor for me sadly. 😪
3.25 stars
I can't tell you the last time I read a proper fast paced thriller!! Picked it up for $5 at Barnes and Noble with a purchase of a drink at the Cafe. Uhm heck yes.
I actually haven't even read the synopsis yet so no idea what it is about. So I hope it'll make it even more interesting for me!
Who's read it and what did you think?
Wow this book is getting intense! Nearly 70% and it's finally picking up the pace! Thank goodness.
Did I predict the plot twist....... somewhat yes. Do I feel like there will another plot twist that I don't expect. Yes, I do and I am here for it!
Predicting a 5 star read.
"Ever see yourself doing something in the past and no matter how many times you remember it you still want to scream stop, somehow redirect the action, reorder the present? I feel that way now, watching myself tugged stupidly along by inertia, my own inquisitiveness ... "
Been listening to this audiobook on YouTube! Definitely good quality and I love the voice actors different voices for each character.
So far this is a fascinating story!! I am so enthralled with how Frankenstein is viewing the world. Although, I am missing a lot of the details regarding some of the other side stories. This book deserves a physical reread if I ever get around to it.
Can't wait to finish this one! Predicting a 4 star read.
First book I ever bought to annotate for fun!
This is my bookclub pick for April.... and my name is Rebecca. 😁 So gotta make this fun and do it right!
Eek I am nervous to mess up my notes but not everything has to be perfect and serious.
Who's read it and what are your thoughts?
Book 3 in the Darktown series! The writing is superior in this novel! I loved how the story switched between narrator and characters, it definitely kept me interested and thinking! Beyond that, the level of realism and the character description was fantastic. I feel like I was involved in the story and the characters were my friends.
Overall so glad I've kept up with the series and I will continue to read it if book 4 is ever written!! 🌟 🌟🌟🌟
Which cat are you?! 🐱🐱🐱
I feel like I'm the one at the top just napping on the books. 🤣
Solid 3 stars. I work with trauma victims so I was not pleased with the level of violence and abuse. Major trigger warnings here ⚠️
The main character was unlikable but that makes perfect sense considering it's book 1 in a long series.
I liked the concept of her being a bounty hunter but im not sure it was successfully executed. Some of her dialog was so far fetched from normal everyday conversations.
I'll unlikely I'll pick up book 2.
Working my way through book 3!! Let me tell you the writing in this novel is superior to the last novels. This is definitely going be my favorite out of the series.
A cop turned journalist. A good man killed. A fight to discover the real killer. A city in conflict. A country waking up. Set in Atlanta 1956.
Literary fiction at it's finest. I predict a 4.5 star rating at least.
"When I looked around I saw and heard of none like me. Was I, then, a monster, a blot upon the earth, from which all men fled and whom all men disowned?"
Wow. I thought I knew what this book was about but I never knew there was this much depth to it. I'm fascinated by this story and Frankensteins view of man's desires, wants, fears, and laws. And ultimately the understanding of himself.
A wonderful experience so far.
Been wanting to read this creepy crowd pleaser for awhile now. Happy to be getting around to it.
What are your thoughts?
I hate celebrity gossip and "reality" TV and this book largely fell into that category. The other part was unlikable and annoying main characters.
I loved two of the supporting characters who did not get justice in this novel.
The writing was fantastic, dynamic, and clever, but I just couldn't overcome the pure annoyance I felt in the 2nd half of this book. Tough sell for me. I can see why other people adore this book though.
It's always been fascinating to me how things can be simultaneously true and false, how people can be good and bad all in one, how someone can love you in a way that is beautifully selfless while serving themselves ruthlessly.
-Evelyn Hugo
Both look like EXCELLENT reads!!
I'm discovering that I really enjoy multi-generational reads. So Peach Blossom Spring will likely be a 5 star rating from me
And of course Will!! Another 5 star prediction.
"No matter where you go, there are cracks in the plaster, nails coming loose, you just have to decide where you want to piece yourself back together. Where the ground feels sturdiest beneath your feet"
Wow wow wow. What a book! ?????
Suspense, mystery, remote town, a story of losing yourself in your own mind. A story of survival and of destiny.
Yes, highly recommended. Excellent writing and creativity. A definite must read.
A good book, my favorite pillow and hot tea ☕️.
Hauntingly beautiful, hypnotic, and bewitching, A History of Wild Places is a story about fairy tales, our fear of the dark, and losing yourself within the wilderness of your mind.
I am really starting to build a connection with the characters and I am at a critical point in the story! Definitely a read that keeps my interest. I predict a 4.5 to 5 star read! 🌟 📚 📖
LOVING this book already! Mystery, suspense, interesting characters, a hidden community, depth in the writing, multiple POVs, fear of the unknown, and the possibility of magical realism. Sign me up!
About 100 pages in and I can't wait to binge read this tonight.
Struggled to get through this one and was sometimes unsettled by the writing style. She is is definitely blunt and does not hold back on details.
I struggled to find the meaning behind this true crime / memoir combo. I wanted to love this but i felt like the author was slightly exploiting the story of the murder of 6 year old Jeremy. I mean I hope the author was able to find peace and healing from writing this book. It just wasn't for me.
Look at this stunning pie 😍😍
Definitely describes me in quarentine today! 🤣
Go follow this lady on Instagram @pieladybooks. Her posts are so much fun!!
Found this gem on Amazon Kindle for free!!
Not sure why it says I borrowed it.... but heck yeah! If I love it I'm definitely buying it because I know the design under the book jacket on the hard cover is stunning.
Giraffes are definitely my favorite animal 🦒🦒
My next read! 📖📚
Who's read it what did you think? No spoilers please!
I started a 2022 Book Challenge to help me read the books on my shelf and to avoid buying new books!
If anyone wants to join in the Challenge is posted on the app StoryGraph under the account beccaboo2216
A closer look of my book end. These things are solid! Best purchase I've made in awhile! 💀💀💀 @Adventures-of-a-French-Reader
I'll tell you, I DEVOURED this book so fast. I couldn't read it fast enough. Thanks @Avanders for the book 😍
I love how this story traveled through generations, centuries even. Kept me wondering what would happen next. The ending was a bit dramatic but isn't every book?
4.5 to 5 star read from me.
My new bookshelf!!
Yes those bookends are a skull cut in half 💀 I'm OBSESSED. Just may need to paint the base black or gray to match.
Also thank you to @Avanders for the gold butterfly photo prints from the #BasicWitchSwap book exchange. 🦋
Definitely do not like this cover! Reminds me of a high school textbook. I also accidently bought the large print version.
So my motivation to pick up this book after I put it down is LOW. But I am enjoying the story inside. I'm about 50% done with it!
This book splits between a true crime narrative and the authors personal memoir and how both stories end up colliding.
Definitely has *trigger warnings*.
I have been wanting to read/listen to this book for months now! Finally got my hands on ot with Libby! I'm predicting a 5 star listen!
What did you guys this of this middle grade book?
Finished this one! It is always hard to rate true crime books as it describes the worst moment in history for the victims and their families.
I thought Callahan wrote this book well, used factual references, played up the mystery, and stayed on point. The book was disturbing and difficult to put down! This was an extremely interesting case and I hope to read more true crime books by this author.
Wow wow wow! @Avanders I feel so spoiled by your #bws gift! What a great way to wake up! Two witchy books for the swap: The Fortune Teller and Witch light! Some delicious black tea, a deep purple candle I'm afraid to burn and a stunning ink print! Don't forget the candy! 🖤😍 And thank you for the extra books! I've been wanting to read these! The copy of Addie LAaRue is gorgeous! A perfect edition to my shelf!! Thank you! 🦇⚰🖤🧹
My newest drawing 🦇🖤⚰🧙♀️🧹
What do you think?
I can't wait till Halloween so I can open my #basicwitchswap package!
Wow wow wow. This is a must read for anyone working in the criminal justice, medical, or psychology field.
Allison's story is heart wrenching but it is told in such a poetic, lyrical, and captivating way. I was so drawn into this book it was difficult to put down.
I will use some quotes from this to train my new interns in my social work program at my job. Just extremely powerful. Trigger warnings for sure though, be aware.
A strong ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Hoping to finish this book tonight!
I never know how to rate true crime books but wow this story is crazy interesting. I have a little over a hundred pages left to read.
Your package is on its way!! #basicwitchswap
