Summer Reading Challenge: Take Your Summer Reading to New Heights | Julie Ann Price
17 posts
This summer I challenge you to take your summer reading in a new direction. I challenge you to learn a new skill that will help you in your career, build a new business, become a better parent or develop a passion.Whether you want to become a subject matter expert or learn about a foreign country you would love to visit, you can use this course to design your own challenge.Don't let "someday" continue to linger out in the future just out of your reach. Take steps this summer to accomplish one of your dream goals. Why not expand your knowledge while sitting poolside this year?

Anyone else doing a library #summerreadingchallenge with your little ones? We signed up late but have been enjoying it. They‘ve even become fans of #audiobooks and #ebooks as a result. #librarianmom #raisingreaders

AbhisekBasu Check out the scariest book you'll read this year. Link in bio! ☠️ 3d
Karkar That looks like Boo from Mario Brothers. 👻 3d
AlaMich I think audiobooks for kids are a great thing, maybe even as a steppingstone to print books for reluctant readers. 3d

Have you seen this great idea by @Librarybelle and @ferskner ???

So my question is, what's your favourite cozy crime series? 🤩 I already have some cozy crimes on my tbr, but maybe you inspire me for another series!?!? 😁

Librarybelle Thank you for reposting! There are so many fun cozy series...an automatic read for me is Joanne Fluke‘s Hannah Swensen mystery series. Hannah is a baker in Minnesota who has a knack for finding dead bodies! There are also recipes throughout the books. The earlier books are better than the more recently published (there are a lot of books). First book is 1mo
BookishBelle I really enjoy the Fixer Upper series by Kate Carlisle and the Wishcraft series by Heather Blake. 1mo
melissanorr I love so many cozy series! The bibliophile mysteries by Kate Carlisle, the Auction Block series by Loretta Ross, and the book store series by Paige shelton 1mo

mabell What a fun question! Because I like kooky, eclectic, and lighthearted, one of my favorite series is Donna Andrews‘ Meg and family beginning with 1mo
yourfavouritemixtape I like Agatha Raisin, even though I roll my eyes a lot when reading it 😄 I recently discovered Jenn McKinlays bookish series and liked it a lot. 1mo
Sarah83 @yourfavouritemixtape thank you so much. I just downloaded it. 🤩🤩🤩 1mo
yourfavouritemixtape @Sarah83 yay!! I hope you like it! 1mo
ferskner Thank you for reposting! Mine is probably the Goldy Bear catering series by Diane Mott Davidson. At least, I've read those the most! 1mo

Blue may be the most common color used on the covers of books I‘ve read. Here are some I‘ve read so far this year. I expect more #summertimeblues in the coming weeks. #SongsofSummer

OriginalCyn620 Awesome! 😎 2mo

Finally got my May wrap-up together. A good reading month with a total of 10 books.

4 ~ Physical books
5 ~ Audio books
1~ Ebook (Netgalley)

Have not yet gotten my June TBR list together yet. I am waiting on my #BEA and #BookCon2019 books to arrive. I shipped everything FedEx. Once they arrive and I have had time to sort and catalog them I will be able to get a game plan together.

☀️📚It‘s almost time for my library‘s summer reading challenge to begin! 📚☀️

I love our libraries approach, which includes a variety of activities broken into a few categories: read, play, explore, write, create, and give. 📝 🚲 🏊🏼‍♀️ 🖼

What does your library offer during their summer reading program?

jb72 Our library seems to only be offering children‘s programs. I did speak with the library director about an adult summer program so hopefully she‘ll come up with something. 2mo
4thhouseontheleft @jb72 Hopefully they‘ll add something! Our library makes it easy by having an online dashboard where we can log hours/minutes for each family member in one central place. 2mo

TheReadingMermaid @Hunsakermountain I understand that some of this is topographically dictated. And that case I would except going to the river or lake or something of the sort 😉 12mo
KellyHunsakerReads Aww... I didn‘t mean to be negative. Just sad to not have a beach to go with my mountains. 12mo
TheReadingMermaid @Hunsakermountain I feel your pain honey. We live in Ohio! 12mo
Daisey I don‘t think I will try this competitively, but it is a super fun checklist! 12mo

Our library kicked off their Summer Reading Challenge today with a fun day of activities! So glad we were able to make it after baseball!! Lincoln got his reading log to earn his badges, a free Elephant and Piggie book, a ballon animal, listened to story time, did an obstacle course, did a summer quest scavenger hunt, had a yummy lunch, and so much more!! We can‘t wait to start our summer reading!!! #lowermakefieldlibrary #summerquest

Bookzombie That sounds like a lot of fun! 13mo

@TheHeartlandBookFairy just posted the #13Books13Weeks summer reading challenge, set from June 4-August 31. I‘m in! Who knows if I‘ll even make it, but I‘m willing to try. These have been languishing for months for me to read, so might as well push these up to the top of the stack. Some will be quicker than others, and the #24in48 in July should help me catch up if need be.

#SebastianKitty had to inspect the pile. He approves! #catsoflitsy

TheHeartlandBookFairy Yay! Welcome and thank you for joining the challenge! I love your choices and I love the other stack in the background 😂 I don't even dare post a picture of my remaining TBR stack after removing the 13, It's Epic! And, it's the only visible one but there are hidden Stacks under beds and armoires and more LOL 😂😂😂 Good luck and I can't wait to see your progress! 14mo
Librarybelle @TheHeartlandBookFairy This will be fun! I too have other stacks and lists throughout my house, including that large stack of material on the nightstand. Thanks for posting about this! 14mo

TheHeartlandBookFairy Thanks!!! 😁😁😁 14mo
Dolly That stack on the nightstand 🤣 14mo
Librarybelle @Dolly I wish I could say that‘s the only one! 🤣 I need more hours in the day to read everything! 14mo
Librarybelle @TheHeartlandBookFairy Of course...sorry! I can‘t blame autocorrect on that one! 14mo
RadicalReader @Librarybelle love the awesome look the cat is giving the precarious pile of books!! 14mo
Librarybelle @RadicalReader He has to make sure everything looks okay! 🤣🤣🤣 14mo

Making my list of the books from the #ModernMrsDarcy #SummerReadingGuide that I would like to read! The Widows of Malabar Hill will be my first pick because it was available on Overdrive! Has anyone else made a list of their picks from the guide?

tracey38 Love the summet reading lists. Wish I knew what I'd read so I can make one. 😊 14mo
ReadingMeagan @tracey38 Modern Mrs Darcy put her picks in categories today. That totally helped me (as well as the descriptions) good luck! 14mo
