I didn't like this one nearly as much as her others. This is her first, and it was more philosophical and preachy. I preferred the others, which was much more about learning about death and death rituals. I still learned some things from this one, but I didn't really enjoy it.

I did not want to stop reading this one. I stayed up way too late to finish it. It was a great story about a man who clearly has Asperger's (that's the mad part, because Victorian England) and a lower class woman who unexpectedly came into money. I'm definitely going to continue with this series.

March: Book One | John Robert Lewis, Andrew Aydin, Nate Powell

Pickpick

The first volume of March goes backs and forth between the day of Barack Obama‘s inauguration in 2009, and John Lewis‘s childhood and early years in the civil rights movement.

It‘s an extraordinary memoir in graphic novel format, and sparked some excellent conversations with Maya this morning. I‘m looking forward to reading the next two.

This was a really fun rom-com but after awhile all the sex scenes started to feel like unnecessary page filler, but hey I‘m not actually complaining. An enjoyable teen romance with some wonderful witty banter & significant social commentary.

4thhouseontheleft I hadn‘t thought of using this for the #pop20 pun prompt! 24h
HOTPock3tt This was one of my fave books of 2019. It was just soo much fun! 😃❤️💖🎉 I wish I could read it all over again for the prompt! 😁 I loved it so much that I bought both and audiobook copy AND ebook copy lol (edited) 24h
Cinfhen It works for a few other #pop20 prompts @4thhouseontheleft but I went with the punny one 😁😉 23h

Cinfhen It really was FUN!!!! And the narrator was hilarious @HOTPock3tt except it was a bit awkward to have my family hear my listening to a book where the words “dick” & “f@ck” were in almost every other paragraph 😜They now call me #SmuttyMum 23h
HOTPock3tt Lol that is so true! I didn‘t even realize it because I listened to it on my head phones all the way through. But some of the comments could make a stone blush. 🤣 @Cinfhen 23h
Cinfhen Yup 😂🤣😂🤣 @HOTPock3tt 23h

This is an exceptional historical fiction novel, a genre that is often hit or miss for me. While occasionally verging on soap opera-ish, I was fully invested in the story, and Evelyn Hugo herself. I love imperfect and flawed characters like Evelyn. I do wish the supporting cast would have been a bit fleshed out. Harry especially felt a bit flat.

4thhouseontheleft @Bookzombie @MeganAnn There was a time in the middle I wasn‘t sure how I would end up liking this book, but I sped through the last 2/3 yesterday and just couldn‘t put it down! 2d
Eggs Love the stack of antique books in background 2d
Lucy_Anywhere I loved Daisy Jones - sounds like I should bump this to the top of my TBR! 2d
Cinfhen I wasn‘t too much of a fan but there was so much hype and I went in with HIGH expectations 🤪 2d
Bookzombie @4thhouseontheleft I‘m getting close to the halfway mark. I fell asleep last night so didn‘t get far. 2d
Bookzombie @Cinfhen I listened to Daisy first and really liked it, so I‘m trying to keep my expectations under control while I listen to this one. It‘s not easy. 2d
Cinfhen Expectations are a double edged sword @Bookzombie And I often need to remind myself of that 2d

There were some lovely prose here but the majority of this #poetry collection felt pretty cliche and listening to a #MillennialAuthor the age of my kids offer life and love advice left me a little jaded. This probably wasn‘t written for me 🙄 #JennyIs30

jenniferw88 Quick question: because I'm a mood reader can I jump around with the #booked2020 prompts? I'm just aware that when it comes to the quarterly check-ins that they might not all belong to one season! 😂😂😂 @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft 4d
jillrhudy I feel that way about so many things. Starting to feel like a dinosaur 🦕 4d

On the Come Up | Angie Thomas

Pickpick

I gotta hand it to Angie Thomas ~ she knows how to make a 53 year old feel like a teenager again. Yes, parts of this book are annoyingly YA but listening to Bohni Turpin rap, whine and lament about race, family, expectations and HS was infectious. Absolutely enjoyed all 12 hours and I‘m now ready to listen to another YA book.

CoffeeAndABook Great review!!! I‘ll stack this, sounds rousing ⚡️ 4d
Cinfhen Hi @CoffeeAndABook you have to go with the audiobook ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️otherwise I‘m afraid it‘ll be a very YA read (edited) 4d
4thhouseontheleft Now I know I need to check out some audiobooks narrated by her! 4d

cleoh Omg this was my favourite audiobook of last year! Bahni Turpin also does THUG and There‘s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins! 4d
Cinfhen She‘s such an incredibly talented narrator @cleoh @4thhouseontheleft honestly she could make my tax returns sound exciting 🙌🏻💜 4d
cleoh @Cinfhen honestly yes 😍 she‘s also the narrator for Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay which just sounds so incredible and I have been on the wait list for it for so long 😭 4d
Cinfhen Good to know @cleoh I‘m gonna see if my library system has it 4d
CoffeeAndABook I definitely keep that in mind‼️ I‘m not big on audiobooks but this one sounds non-optional 😉 4d
