Reading during our rest day on the Tour Du Mont Blanc!

The framing of Claudia Lin wanting to become a detective like her favourite fictional detective was such fun! And adding the family dynamic gave this an extra bit of dimension that bumped this from an okay book to a really good one. Looking forward to the next in the series!

Book 5 for #14Books14Weeks, way past when the challenge ended, as per my usual approach to this challenge 🤪

Very late #14books14weeks wrap up post. I read all but one! I'm 8% into Walkaway, and it was my Sept #bookspin too, so I'll hopefully knock it off sometime before the end of the year.

Read this back in July & absolutely loved it!
It's a story about two opposites who must work together in a small town PA restaurant. Greg is an extroverted bartender who left his extravagant NYC life behind after getting into too much debt. Julian is an introverted sommelier whose OCD makes it hard for him to accept change & let anyone close. Once they get over their initial skepticism of each other, they strike up a friends w benefits situation⬇️

peanutnine Their relationship was so sweet (and sexy). Greg has erectile dysfunction due to mental health meds and Julian struggles with cleanliness bc of his OCD. They both meet each other with openness & compassion, growing and working through trauma. It's very much a character driven story (they're trying to save the family restaurant, did I mention that?) and they each have to decide what it means to find a home #14books14weeks #LGBTQIA2025 @Kenyazero 1w

Read this in July while on vacation. It was a beautiful, tender story about grief and allowing vulnerability into the hard parts of life. This was a very slow burn romance but Bastone writes her characters with so much heart and chemistry that it's worth the wait 💗

My #14books14weeks summer challenge board. I finished 9 out of 14, and I‘m almost through Treasure Island. It‘s better than the last two summers…next year I need to remember that August is usually a bust for me! 😂

Thank you for hosting, @Liz_M 📚

Liz_M Well done! I hope you enjoyed some of what you read! 1mo

I regret nothing! 😂 But other library books and/or challenges got in the way, so I only read 11 of the planned 14. I will get to The Impressionist, The Quincunx, and Await Your Reply before the end of the year, I hope.🤞

Thank you for hosting @Liz_M ! This is a great challenge and I love any excuse to make a stack of books! 📚

sarahbarnes Impressive work! 🔥 That‘s a good way to think about the rest of the stack, too. 1mo
Ruthiella @sarahbarnes Thanks! 😊 1mo
Liz_M But KL is three volumes, so you read 13 books from your list! 😁 1mo

I managed to read 13 of my #14Books14weeks stack. Considering I peppered in some #1001books I had been putting off, I am pleased with the result. I still want to read Fado Alexandrino; it will be on September's list (again).

Five books were exceptionally trippy which made for an odd summer - A Void, The Unconsoled, Lananrk, The Castle, I Who Have Never Known Men.

I was lovely to read some of the contemporary books from my shelves,.

Not the best and not the worst I guess!

I read 8 of the 14 I had set out to read this summer. For the most part they were all at least okay, and I am glad to have them off my TBR. Flamingo was probably my surprise favorite of this bunch, I don't know why I waited so long to tackle it!

Liz_M Great job! I'm glad you discovered one surprisingly good book on your stack! 1mo
