This is clearly an intelligent book with a great sense of unreality and sarcasm. I may come back to it, but I found the meandering mysteriousness a little tiring, and with over 9 hours still to go I‘m bailing for now…

*Japan (Sapporo, Tokyo) & Hawaii in the 1980s.
That's where I wanna be atm. 😊
Another choice would be The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins - gothic spooky England in the early 1800s.

Have you played this one, Bunny? What are your choices? 💞 @BeeMagical
Thanks for the tag, @RaeLovesToRead 💕
Islands are right up my alley! 😊
1. So many... Anytime:
Japan (regardless which one - either one of the main islands ( esp. Hokkaido or Honshu again), or the Okinawan or any small Japanese one);
Taiwan
Ireland
The Channel Islands
Easter Island
Hawaii (any island)
or... Langeoog again.
2. if Japan (Hokkaido) or Hawaii: the tagged book
on Kyushu: Kafka on the Shore
on Honshu: any Murakami ... ⤵️
This is a book I am reading for pleasure with my friends in a book club and oh wow it has captured my attention within the first couple chapters. Definitely for adult readers with some mature themes. But if you are interested in reading a sci-fi, thriller, with psychological fiction in your free time I definitely recommend. I cant put it down!
#AcrossApril Day 14: Iphigene‘s review: “Dance #Dance #Dance is like scratching the surface to reveal the truth hidden beneath.
Normality isn‘t common around here.
If the character is normal then s/he must be the hero‘s security blanket. Most of the characters in this novel are enveloped in mystery and secrecy—a thread that connects the main character to everyone else.”

I was happy to see the return of several characters from A Wild Sheep Chase. A good and often creepy finish to the Rat series.
And even though we‘re at the end of this #AuthorAMonth, I‘ll be finishing the rest of these soon!
Cecil likes to read upside down. Working my way through Murakami‘s books. Reviews to come.

The MC from Hear the Wind Sing appears in the 4th (and last) of the series. 4.4/5🌟
Part myth, part detective story, part surreal; Dance keeps you engaged. He inserts a character this time who is a wealthy writer named “Hiraku Makimura”, anagram of Haruki Murakami. Still the overt narrow characterization of women as sex partners. I‘m not a prude; I believe, however, in people having more aspects to personality than sexuality. HM does disservice ⬇️

“I often dream about the Dolphin Hotel.”
Not read but I have it! 😂

Thanks @squirrelbrain @Cinfhen 😙😙
Today‘s steps, a little lower than my usual because of the heavy rain this morning. Some of the steps were earned in my swing-dance class (pic is not my actual class!)

My poise is NOT good enough to balance metal jars of liquid (milk, oil, water) on my head while spinning in a circle but these ladies managed it! Second last evening of the Jaipur Literature Festival and they‘re going out with a bang! It‘s been amazing. The crowds are intense, the lineups diverse and the spectacle spectacular. If you can swing a visit to the #ZeeJLF I highly recommend it (but can tell you a hotel you should probably avoid! 😂)
“..there were times I saw freshness and beauty. I could smell the air, and I really loved rock 'n' roll. Tears were warm, and girls were beautiful, like dreams. I liked movie theaters, the darkness and intimacy, and I liked the deep, sad summer nights.”
Murakami‘s books are like marmite. I think to appreciate his books is an acquired taste..🤷♀️ I like his non fiction What I Talk About When I Talk About Running.

Steady and solidly enjoyable all the way through. This is one of my two favorite Murakami books. It is surreal, but more grounded than his other books, and less weird. It's a great accessible first Murakami book and was calm and pleasing to read. There was nothing remarkable about it, but it was really enjoyable.
DARKNESS
Terrifying, nullifying, dreadful. What if this is your world? Your reality? Would you mind to live and accept the fact that nothing is truly impossible? Anything can happen in this world or in our worlds and it's an enormously terrible feeling. You are always tied, connected and it's in your hands to find your way out.
It's been a while. This is by far my most fave read from Haruki Murakami. A must read everyone 🤗
Such a lovely #independentbookstore ! #shoplocal #localbookstore
I typically love Murakami but I don‘t love his portrayal of women in most of his books. This book is especially egregious and filled with cringeworthy passages. I‘m struggling with it a little
Every time I read a Murakami book I have the urge to drink beer and eat cucumbers -staples in most of his books.
Did not get any reading done today! I was to busy being proud if my tiny dancer. Recital was today. 9 costumes, 9 dances, 2 shows and 1 tired girl! Just had to brag a little. #proudmom
This is what happens when you own too many books. I went to buy myself a birthday present (for tomorrow) and bought myself a book I already own.
Total #bragpost but I watched my son dance this weekend in Savannah and didn‘t get much reading done. Can‘t wait to see what he does in college ❤️❤️ #KennesawState
This has nothing to do with books, but a little bit of a brag. This is my son, a senior in high school, who will be attending college in the fall to major in Dance. Just so proud of him and his courage to stand out in a very.redneck.town, where boys play sports and don‘t dance 😁
Mostly picking this because of the title but #whatafeeling it was to tear through such an addictive and eerie mystery. A simple premise- main character searches for his missing girlfriend- is treated to all manners of Murakami weirdness (creepy hotel and sheep man included), but this one has the fastest pace of any others I've read. Sequel to A Wild Sheep Chase, but works as a standalone too. #augustgrrrl @Cinfhen
#booksbyasianwriters three Murakami's novels, all gifts from my best friend

@RealLifeReading
This book is approaching my record for most times read (current champ is hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.)
Happy birthday to my favorite author. Thank you for being open about mental health issues in your characters. They've made me feel like I'm not alone and that's incredibly special to me. You even get your own shelf.
So we have to do Christmas in Florida with my family early because we're flying up to New York for actual Christmas, but my Santas really hit it out of the park. Love this Murakami shirt 😍😍😍😍😍 #MurakamiCultMember
This tickled me as I'm getting ready for dance warm up, I'm definitely the kindle
Precipitate as weather, she appeared from somewhere, then evaporated, leaving only memory. #SoMuchFeels
I usually don't mark up my books, but something got into me during one of my rereads a few years ago and I I just had to highlight this passage. #greatquote #somethingforsept
what stuck beside my pillows for weeks and those are not even my currently reading lol
That wonderful feeling of starting a new Murakami.
Just let Muraki take over and show you things you can never imagine!
I am trying to get my hands on all of Murakami's books. Which ones have you read ?
My 2nd in line from this amazing Japanese author. He can take most banal moments and make then unforgettable.
