This was ok, but not as exciting as I hoped. Maybe cozy mysteries aren't my thing. 6/10.
@Blueberry
I've been trying to do some decluttering lately and found an old box with all my book pins! These are so old hahah. Most of them are from book events I went to. The American Girl pins are driving me crazy because why don't I have Molly?! Or Kirsten? Ugh.
@Blueberry
Didn't love this one, but it's not really my type of story. Feels like you're playing a D&D campaign, so I'd still recommend it to people that like that kind of thing 😂
@Blueberry
I enjoyed this! Definitely wacky, but not as silly as some of his other books. Starts pretty slow, but when it gets there...😳 Deals a lot with family loss, so definitely something to be mindful of if that may be difficult for you ❤️
@Blueberry
It's here! 🎉
@Blueberry
1. I have an Amazon wishlist that I send people if they ask, and it has books on it!
2. I got my husband a cookbook! 🤭

I liked the first book a lot, and kind of wish they'd just left it as a standalone. This one felt very repetitive and even cringey at times. The audiobook is read by Lin Manuel Miranda, which I did enjoy.
1. I'm Glad My Mon Died
2. No, but I've had my eye on Once Upon a Book Club. But they don't always have themes I'm interested in and when they DO they always sell out fast 😭
3. The Jolly Christmas Postman 🎄

Lost internet at work tonight which gave me plenty of time to finish this. Seems like every millennial in the world has this on their shelf right now! The content was sad but her writing style is very readable. While the overarching theme is her mom I felt like this was more about eating disorders than anything; so if that is something that distresses you I'd advise to read with caution.
Lots of book mail this month!?! And they all sound great. Which to read first...
1. Usually several, like one on audio, one physical and maybe one with my husband.
2. Favorite: Sea of Tranquility
Least favorite: The Luminaries

Trying to finish this bc I like the plot. But I have to say it's tough to get through with how fat-phobic the writing is. The main character wakes up in a different body & literally says "I resemble some grotesque caricature of the human body," then goes ON about it for 10 chapters. I don't think describing a body as fat is an insult (I'm fat! btw). But to harp on about how gross, pathetic & humiliating it must be for a fat person IS insulting.
1. The Poughkeepsie Tapes!!! 😭
2. I don't read a lot of fantasy, but the first that came to mind was The Ocean at the End of the Lane.
3. Black, purple, orange! 🖤💜🧡

Went on a bookstore date and finally got a copy of House of Leaves! Excited to dive in but tbh I'm not sure if I'm clever enough for it hahah. We'll see!
Husband picked up the new James Butcher novel which he was really looking forward to.
💁Husband: We should watch the new Hellraiser movie, here, watch this trailer.
💁🏻♀️Me: Sure, want to read the book first?
🙎Husband: That sounds fun!
Us, one week later: 😳😵😵💫
@Blueberry
1. The Shining 👻
2. Drinking coffee right now! ☕️
3. I love fall! Halloween stuff, wedding anniversary, and mom might come visit! 🍁

We read this for bookclub recently. It was ok, but I thought I'd like it more. I like the movie better! 🤫 We had a good conversation about it though which is what bookclubs are about, anyway.
@Blueberry
I enjoyed this book, but I wish I had read The Glass Hotel first. I really liked the Station Eleven references (world building!) and I understand there were also a lot from The Glass Hotel that I didn't pick up on. I'd like to read that soon and then try this one again.
@Blueberry
Just finished this one. Was seeing lots of hype for it but honestly wasn't super into it? Not much substance, main character wasn't interesting and the only juicy reveal wasn't until the end, but not interesting enough that I'd read another one. Felt very 2010 supernatural YA trilogy.
Third book in the YOU series. I thought the first two books were exciting, but this one felt really lackluster. Maybe after two books & three TV seasons it just doesn't feel as fresh anymore. Mary Kay isn't very interesting and the "oh shit" moment doesn't happen til the very end; and when it does the conclusion just falls flat and feels unfinished. It would have made an interesting conflict in the middle of the book rather than an ending.
If you, too, would like to receive text messages from Matthew McConaughey, be sure to sign up for Read Receipts, from Penguin Books 😂 Link: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/friend

My library had a giveaway for Star Wars Day, and I won! 😁
1. Probably 2 stars so far hahah.
2. Welcome to Night Vale (also reread Station Eleven, so obviously that was good, but I think picking that is cheating a bit)
3. Libraries (even though mine does not have an adult summer reading program, which I am bitter about)

Finished this book and did my nails to match!
@Blueberry
Cute book 😊 Haven't read Kate DiCamillo in a long time but she's still just as charming. Buddy read with @Blueberry 😁
1. Welcome to Night Vale AND just started The Beatryce Prophecy to #buddyread with @Blueberry
2. 🤔
3. Played some games with my husband and brother. Back at work now 😅

@Blueberry @rachelsbrittain #weekendreads
1. Dead Silence (put it on pause for awhile, back at it now).
2. More audio books with Andrew.
3. Haven't finished anything yet but have been reading both Dead Silence and Solaris (which are actually kind of similar...)

Look at this cute library I found in The Lavender Beds! Is anyone else playing ffxiv right now?

"You meet at the annual talent show, but then you get stuck in a time loop." Oh geeze ? Hahah your turn @Blueberry
I hated this book SO much. I don't think I've hated a book this much since reading The Book of Strange New Things in 2015. I hate this book.
1. Dead Silence and Shiver
2. You Suck
3. Checked out Cultish and haven't had a chance to start it. I'll probably just check it our another time :(

Andrew and I are listening to this now. Main character is Not Like Other Girls and very insufferable 😫
1. In between a lot of stuff right now 🥴
2. I think Goodreads is the easiest. Litsy I just use for fun.
3. Shiver by Allie Reynolds

I didn't think October was a good reading month, but now that I'm looking at it I don't think it was that bad 🤷🏻♀️
Been reading these with Andrew (finished You Suck a couple days ago, started Bite Me yesterday). He's really enjoying them. I am enjoying them, though slightly less. They're fine...but they definitely read like a man wrote them in the early 2000's, if that makes sense? But I am enjoying reading together, and it's hard to find books that he's interested in, so I'll take it 😂
It took a very very long time to figure out how to stream this audio book to both mine and my husband's bluetooth ear buds at the same time 🥴
Something spoOoky for October 👻 Now I need to check Hoopla for vol. 2!
1. Discovering Scarfolk
2. The only book I've finished so far this month was only so-so 👀 But I'm enjoying the above book and also have some other fun stuff lined up.
3. Anything by Grady Hendrix, but Horrorstor is my favorite!
