This book has been on a Pilgrimage of sorts with me this summer! Just finished it on yet another beach. I enjoyed this book very much. Having just returned from the Holy Land myself, I could picture the places Martin describes. I also appreciated his personal retelling and reflections on the Scriptures from the places that he visited. You don‘t have to be a Scripture scholar to appreciate, though! He explains it all in plain language.

This book went everywhere with me so far this summer: DC, the pool, the beach, NC, GA...and it took me on a ride as well 😂 Between catching up on Riverdale and reading this, I couldn‘t believe one thing after another, but I wanted to keep reading. No wonder they made this into a TV show. So many things happens to these main characters that it is unbelievable, yet I still want to know what happens next 😂

So, my friend told me about this One New Cocktail A Day Challenge that she tried before her 40th birthday. The challenge is simple: make one new cocktail with a new recipe that you‘ve never tried each day for however long you freaking want to 😂😜🍸🍹🥃 I have accepted this challenge for my summer. Today‘s cocktail: Cucumber Elderflower Gimlet. Cheers to summer!

Ooo man. This took me a while to read. I am a fan of Gladwell‘s Revisionist History podcast so a friend leant this to me. The points that are made in this book are noteworthy and Gladwell uses a lot of studies, research, and examples to back them up. But it‘s a lot of studies. Like a lot. The book is mainly examples and tests which I appreciate but made it tough to sit down and enjoy reading.

hjreviews I felt the same way about the amount of tests and studies included. I wish there was more written about how to apply the given information to our lives 1mo

Starting to get into some summer reading! Picked this up after my trip to the Holy Land this year. Can‘t wait to relive some of those moments and places. I also can‘t wait to have the whole summer to soak up some sun, relax, and read! 🙌☀️ #teacherlife

Can‘t recommend this enough. It was on my list before the Hulu show, but the show definitely prompted me to read it and didn‘t steer me astray. I could relate so much to many parts and Lindy West gives me some hope for our future 👏👏 We need more voices like hers!

Yay for Spring Break and for reading! I am a fan of Busy Philipps, but I enjoyed this even more than I thought I would. As a 90s preteen/teen, I appreciated her own coming of age stories from that period. Even though hers include being ON Dawson‘s Creek, not watching it 😜

Oof. This one took a while. It started slow for me and would pick up and then slow again. Lots of ebbs and flows, maybe too many. But finally finished it because I don‘t like to give up on books.

I really enjoyed this. I identified with a lot of what she wrote about as we are from about the same generation, give or take a couple of years. I also recently made a similar roadtrip-albeit with friends- but have had my fair share of solo journeys. Jacobson is a great writer. There are some beautifully written passages. Definitely recommend for someone who is around my age and like minded 😊

This was a great read. It was a tough read in that the author so clearly lays out all of the atrocities this city has committed and has seen since its foundation. If you like history, albeit Unhealed History, i recommend this book. I think it is an important read, too, to understand all of the underlying racism and inequality that still lies beneath the surface in much of Our American culture

Making some headway in the books I started at the end of last year. So far I‘ve been sticking with my resolution with reading and keeping the tv off! And I‘m enjoying getting into this non-fiction today. Unfortunately, Richmond‘s history reads a lot like Game of Thrones in some ways 😜😔✌️But it makes for a good read?? Sigh.

First finished book in 2019! And it was a great read! I saw the Netflix film over Xmas break and enjoyed it so much that I decided I had to read the book. The film certainly left out some things so I'm glad I read this and got to enjoy all of the feels all over again! I love the body positivity that this promotes!

My list of books read in 2018 is somewhat shameful to me. I usually read at least upwards of 20 books a year (which I know still isn‘t a lot for a lot of you ;) Last year I only completed 11 books and started like 8 that I never finished 😢 I am still working on some of the ones that I started last year and one of goals for 2019 is to READ MORE!!!! I promise y‘all that I‘m gonna do it ✊💪🙌

Chelsea.Poole Have you ever tried audiobooks? That's how I am able to read more. It also helps with finishing them, just don't start a new one until the first is done! 😊 6mo
Julz422 @Chelsea.Poole I really only listen to podcasts and books on long car rides which don‘t happen often! I like to sit with a book when I can. But I may try audiobooks more in 2019! 6mo

My women‘s group finally finished this tonight! It brought about lots of fruitful discussion about the spiritual life and Christianity. Even though it was written in the late 90s, it was kind of scary how still relevant it is today. A must read for Christians and some non Christians may find it helpful or interesting, too!

Ooo. Finished this one pretty quickly. I had started watching the HBO series and wanted to find out how the story ends. I put this on hold at the library. Then I couldn‘t put it down. The story is so dark and I wonder how Flynn comes up with such darkness like this and Gone Girl. I liked this one way more than Gone Girl, but no denying that Flynn can write a page turner.
