This audio book was ok but nothing about the story or characters motivates me to continue the series.

A skeleton of a corpse who has been buried alive is discovered at an excavation of the gardens of Earlsacre Hall. Det Sgt Wesley Peterson is busy trying to solve a murder of a man stabbed to death in a caravan park. Are these murders related? Solicitor Brian Willerby may have the answer. Kate Ellis brings us a mystery that seems to imitate the past. Read this to find out what it is about Earlsacre that leads to murder.

Andrew65 Think I liked this one and the series more than some others. A very typical English feel to this murder mystery series. Most US Crime is much faster paced and often more gritty. Obviously some exceptions to this on both sides of the pond. (edited) 3d
EadieB @Andrew65 The only complaint I have about her writing is that her writing does not flow well for me. 3d
Andrew65 @EadieB It might be about her use of English, because i‘ve not noticed this. 3d
EadieB @Andrew65 Yes, her language is a bit stilted. 3d

This was a pretty predictable mystery, there are only so many characters introduced. Plus I felt like it took a long time to set up the premise for how quickly it was solved at the end. There are real crosswords throughout the book so that's an entertaining part of reading this one.

It‘s that time again. Time for the next Group Read on Librarything of book 5 in the Wesley Peterson Series - we are aiming to read the whole series (currently 23 books). This is the schedule for the Group Read. If you are Interested in joining in let me know below - they are great fun and I definitely recommend the series. A mixture of archaeology and a Modern Murder, and a back story from history.

Andrew65 @Crazeedi Book 5 but sure you can join this one and then back fill with the others late on - still 18 ahead of us with the next one published in 2019. Written to almost fill any gaps from previous books. They are quite quick reads. 1w
Andrew65 @Crazeedi We do about 1 every two months so if you don‘t want to join us at this stage we will do book 6 in January and book 7 in March, etc... would be great to have you join our merry little band. 1w
ravenlee What is the first book in the series? 1w
ravenlee Thank you! 1w

Despite excellent spelling I couldn't get into this one past the rambly narration and wooden dialog. Other reviews are generally positive, so I'll limit my complaints and assume that its charms, whatever they are, are somehow lost on me.

End of Day 2 of the #MrBook1inaMillion Extravaganza . In the #24B4Monday Readathon now finished 2 books, read for 16 hrs 19 mins and read 969 pages. Finished The Savage Day and close to finishing Frederica.
9hrs 14 mins reading time today, and my snack of choice has been satsumas, thankfully nice and sweet. #LitsyPartyofOne

Starting the next book in the #MrBook1inaMillion #24B4Monday Readathon. This one is Book 5 in the excellent Wesley Peterson Series - set in the south West of England where murder meets archaeology. #LitsyPartyofOne

Lynnsoprano Oh, my, that sounds like it‘s right in my wheelhouse! 1w
Andrew65 @Lynnsoprano They are well written and very enjoyable. Two chapters in and hooked! Always a bit of a historical mystery alongside a modern crime. 1w

I'm not really enjoying this book, but suddenly find myself giving the author credit for spelling. I may have a problem.

Can't remember the last time I saw this in a publication where it wasn't misspelled "per say." (Or *shudder* "percy")

Aimeesue Percy! 😂😂😂 1w
TuesdayReviews I don‘t think I have ever seen it spelled per say.‘ 1w

Let‘s not forget the upcoming #MrBook1inamillion readathon celebrating the amazing @MrBook 🎉 Here is my tentative #bookstack for the weekend and my current favorite candy. I‘m sure there will be more munchies but I won‘t know what those are until I‘m in the mood for them.
#LitsyPartyOfOne #24B4Monday

MrBook Lol, love that mentality with the munchies 😎🙌🏻! Great stack! So happy you‘re joining in the fun!! 🤗 1w
QuietlyLaura @MrBook Thanks! The only bad part about waiting for my mood to tell me what to snack on is that it often happens late at night when nothing is open! 🙃 1w
MrBook 😂🤣 1w
