Apologies in advance for spamming your timeline with my catch up posts! My hard drive crashed and I spent the last few days recovering the data and combing through, quite literally, hundreds of thousands of files and it left time for little else.

But it did end, and #ForGood

Also, this is probably my favorite cover of the book.

@Cinfhen @vivastory

Centique Oh man what a pain! I hate it when tech goes awry like that and you lose hours or days sorting it. Hope it stays fixed 🙃🙂 4mo
DivineDiana Always a love/hate relationship with technology. 😕 4mo
rohit-sawant @Centique @DivineDiana Right? I have really crummy luck in the tech department. I recently had to do a clean format of my system (again) and had backed up the files to an external drive, and just a day before I was about to copy it back, it crashed out of the blue. In any case, I'm relieved I was able to recover it all! 4mo

DivineDiana Cheers to your recovery! 👏🏻🍾👍🏻 4mo
Tanisha_A Ugh, that's a pain! 4mo
Tanisha_A Nice to know you got it all back. Yay! 4mo
Cinfhen Oh man!!! So glad you were able to get everything back!!!! 4mo
vivastory Glad you were able to retrieve everything!! Also, IT part 2 is easily one of my most anticipated movies of the year! 4mo
rohit-sawant @DivineDiana Thanks! 😀🙌🏽 4mo
rohit-sawant @Tanisha_A @Cinfhen @vivastory It certainly was a pain! It would've been a major downer had it been beyond recovery, but I'm enormously pleased that it wasn't the case! This post could also have doubled for #AlwaysLookOnTheBrightSideOfLife 😃 4mo
rohit-sawant And same, Scott! Loving the cast. I think I mentioned this once, but I hope they go all out with the climax so we get something like Interstellar on crack 🤯 I'm looking forward to a reread of the novel soon! 4mo
batsy Ugh! The stuff of nightmares! So glad it ended well but you're right, time consuming as hell when you're in the midst of it. 4mo
rohit-sawant @batsy Nightmares is right! I almost felt numb the first few seconds when I realized what had happened. The files are scattered across drives and I still have to sort them, but I'm glad I still *have* files to sort! 4mo

#MusicalNewYear #SummerNights

One of my favorite childhood “horse” book series! 😊

Cinfhen I‘m getting @LeahBergen feels I feel like she might have a “horse” shelf🤨 4mo
vivastory I think you're right @Cinfhen 4mo
CrowCAH @Cinfhen we are pretty similar in our tastes of book material! 4mo
rubyslippersreads @Cinfhen @vivastory @CrowCAH I have a “horse” shelf, which @LeahBergen has contributed to. 😊🐴 4mo
LeahBergen @Cinfhen @vivastory @CrowCAH @rubyslippersreads I DID have a horse shelf when I was young but not so much anymore. I had a very horse-obsessed prepubescence and even went to riding camp. 😂😂 4mo

#MusicalNewYear #SummerNights

This book positively radiates heat, day and night!

Cinfhen How does it compare to the other 2 books??? 4mo
CarolynM @Cinfhen As a mystery I think it is probably the best. I like The Dry best because I really liked Aaron Falk and how believable it was that he was involved and all his interactions with the people he used to know were totally believable too. I was less keen on Force of Nature, I thought the resolution was a bit unconvincing. They all do a brilliant job of capturing their settings. 4mo
vivastory I've been meaning to read more. I've only read The Dry. 4mo
Jeg 😍😍😍😍😍 loved this book. 4mo
AnneFindsJoy I‘m excited for this! Been waiting for USA release day! #anticipation 4mo

Gentlemen of the Road | Michael Chabon
post image

The Chabon & the Bowles are still on my TBR, but all four of these titles made me think of sweltering heat & #summernights I might have to add the Chabon to my #24in48 stack. I recently reread The Stranger & find Camus to be much more affable, & aesthetically pleasing, than Sartre.
#MusicalNewYear @Cinfhen

Cinfhen I‘m not familiar with that Chabon title 🤷‍♀️and The Summer That Melted Everything is still on my TBR 4mo
vivastory @Cinfhen It's a relatively short Chabon. (200 pages) I look forward to your thoughts on The Summer That Melted, etc I thought it was astonishing. It was one of the best debut novels I read that was published in 2016. 4mo

Cinfhen That‘s quite an endorsement, Scott! And from you as well @Leftcoastzen not familiar with that title either 🙈 4mo
Reggie The Summer that Melted Everything!!!!......😭😭😭 4mo
erzascarletbookgasm Oh, my, I‘ve not read any of these! I have The Stranger on my shelves and yes, I‘ve heard The Sheltering Sky is good. 4mo

Summer Crossing: A Novel | Truman Capote
post image

The only thing I remember about this book is that I‘ve read it. 😆😆

It sounds lovely though. Grady McNeil spends the summer living alone in the family penthouse, carrying on a torrid affair that leads to a series of decisions that will affect the course of her life.

#musicalnewyear #summernights

vivastory I've been meaning to read more Capote since I read (& loved) In Cold Blood 4mo
Cinfhen Oooh, can‘t believe I missed this post!! Book sounds fantastic!! I want to read more Truman Capote 4mo

The Great Gatsby | F Scott Fitzgerald
post image

Gatsby spends many #summernights throwing lavish parties for hangers on, frequently stepping away to answer the #telephonewire (usually business from Chicago), hoping that Daisy will walk in, so they can rekindle their romance and finally be together #forgood.

And now I'm all caught up 🙂

@Cinfhen @vivastory

rohit-sawant Great #catchup post! Perfect pick! 💚 4mo
readordierachel @rohit-sawant Thanks! I was inspired by your spectacular catchup posts 🤗 4mo

vivastory Very clever! I need to reread this. I felt a bit meh when I read this, but have since read & loved several Fitzgerald stories. 4mo
Cinfhen Fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 4mo
Cathythoughts Nice one 👍🏻♥️ 4mo
readordierachel @vivastory It's the only Fitzgerald I've ever read. Definitely need to correct that. I used to be meh about it too, but I liked it much more when I recently reread it. 4mo

I couldn't find this book listed, but we had a copy when I was a kid. I loved Grease, and I wish I still had this!
#MusicalNewYear #SummerNights @Cinfhen @vivastory

Susannah I had this!! 😍 (edited) 4mo
Velvetfur That looks so cool! And the tagged one too! Ahh Grease is one of the best films ever 😍 4mo

C.Perone OMG!!!! I had two copies of this and am so sad that I can't find either one. I still know this whole movie by heart 😂 4mo
Swe_Eva I had that one and the one for Hair! 💜 I wonder where they went... 4mo
tdrosebud I had this when I read young! It used to be my mom's. Pretty sure it fell apart at some point. 4mo
vivastory Sounds like a fun book! 4mo
Susannah Yes! I loved it because 1) Grease was THE BEST; and 2) it was all pictures and when I got the book, I couldn‘t read yet (I was 3yo). 😁 (edited) 4mo

#musicalnewyear #summernights ok weird choice I know BUT the thing about summer nights is the different ways Sandy and Danny tell the story of their summer and how they see it so differently so this so what I thought of (there‘s an insight into how my mind works no one probably needed) @Cinfhen @vivastory

Cinfhen That‘s actually brilliant ❤️ 4mo
SailorMoon I'm missing something here... what is the meaning of #musicalnewyear and #summernights? I mean, is it a play? I looked for other people and they are all posting stuff about the two # but I can't seem to get how it works! Can you please help? 😰🤣🤯 4mo
SailorMoon Sorry, I meant a game, not a play 😰 4mo

Itchyfeetreader @sailormoon no worries I guess it looks odd! Every month there are some challenges running on Litsy - each day has a prompt for people to interpret in a bookish way. #quotsyjan19 does words for quotes. There is always one for songs and this month it‘s songs from the musicals. Today is summer nights ! Tomorrow is sister suffragette from Mary poppies 4mo
Itchyfeetreader @cinfhen why thank you! 4mo
SailorMoon I still don't get it, I'm afraid 😰 I see tons of pictures of #SummerNights linked to books that are not summery at all! But I guess I'll figure out how it works eventually, thanks anyway 😘🌙 4mo
Itchyfeetreader @sailormoon everyone interprets it differently - sometimes I go for something related to the song title - eg summer nights at the moonlit hotel or something related to the lyrics, - e.g arcade fever or something that just reminds me of the song so today I went for a book that has two narrators talking about the same thing differently. It‘s fun to see how other people interpret, a bit like a cryptic crossword! 4mo
SailorMoon Aaah I think I'm starting to get it now 😅 thanks!!! Where can I find the page that picks the songs for each day? 4mo
Itchyfeetreader @sailormoon try following @cinfhen for the song one although she often has a guest host. If you scroll down the #musicalnewyear tag search you will find the rest of those months. Enjoy!! @LitsyHappenings often amplifies any challenges people are running like this that have a prompt a day. I usually screenshot a couple to flick through during the month as the mood takes me! 4mo
SailorMoon Thank you, really! You've very helpful and kind!!! Have a good night (almost time to bed here!!!) 😘 4mo
