These books. God. One of my favorite fantasy series of all time and I had to lock myself in the work bathroom to finish this last audio book, because I was ugly crying. While not exactly a happy ending, it was a perfect ending to a dark and deeply resonant story. This book hangover is going to last a long time.

Well, it's that time of year again. When my reading time gets eaten up by my working most of the next next eight weeks without a break. 😳

But if any of you #MittenLittens are heading to #MiRF this season you'd better stop by the Crimson Chain Leatherworks booth and say hello. 😁

Bookwomble I've heard of Renaissance Fairs via US TV shows, though I'm not sure I really grasp what they're about or why they're seemingly something of an American institution. And those I've seen depicted seem to be medieval themed rather than Renaissance - can you enlighten a puzzled Briton as to what gives? 🤔 2mo
Branwen Eeeee! I'm going on Saturday! Huzzah! I will certainly stop by and say hello! 😀 2mo
GondorGirl @Bookwomble Okay. So. Imagine if a Brit who has never been to America decided to hold a Wild West festival. 😂 In all seriousness though, they ate sometimes renaissance, sometimes medieval, sometimes fantasy themed. There is usually very little actual history involved. Mostly, people wear costumes, watch themed performers, and drink overpriced mead. As a leatherworker they're where my money for the year is. 2mo

GondorGirl @Branwen Awesome! I always love to meet other littens! We're down between the Mother Oak stage and the Washing Well Wenches. 2mo
Bookwomble @GondorGirl Ok, no history per se, rather a fun excuse to dress up, eat drink and be merry! 😊👍🏻 2mo
BethM @Bookwomble I think it depends where though. My state‘s ren faire incorporates a fair bit of history and is set in 1574 Elizabethan England. 2mo
GondorGirl @BethM That's true. I've worked at some historically minded faires. I actually enjoy those a lot more. Most anymore seem to be less about history, more about making loads of money. 2mo

Fred-Fred would like to recommend 'Vote Dog' by Sam Logan. He says this comic collection about pets is super adorable, even with the unfair depictions of cats as lazy and aloof. 😻

#CatsOfLitsy

JanuarieTimewalker13 Hahahahaha 2mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Sometimes I wish my cat Dean Martin were aloof...I got the high maintenance, give me everything, your whole heart and soul and every ounce of your energy, type of cat. I told him I didn‘t sign up for a dog-that‘s the only time he ignores me. Lol 2mo
GondorGirl @JanuarieTimewalker13 Dean Martin sounds amazing! I love a clingy lover cat! 😻 2mo
JanuarieTimewalker13 Your Fred-Fred is adorable and looks like a sweetheart too. Yeah, Dean Martin is a romantic charmer. But sometimes I need space....LOL...that‘s pretty bad when you need space from a cat. My girl, Xena, gives me space. She‘s a mush but respectable about it, we have a good respect for each other‘s space. Dean thinks we exist for him. Lol 2mo

On September 11, 2001 the American airspace was shut down following the terrorist attacks. While we were all watching the horror unfold there were dozens of planes in the air that had to be redirected. 38 planes ended up in Gander, Newfoundland. The citizens of Gander came together to shelter 7,000 unexpected visitors, including Kevin Tuerff, who was stranded on his way home to Texas.

And yes, one of the Kevins in Come From Away is based on him.

GondorGirl The book is part memoir, part history of a movement (#PayItForwardDay), part spiritual reawakening. Taurff is straightforward and well spoken, and I see why he's been so successful with his companies and charity work. If you want to feel better about humanity and/or are a fan of the musical I'd give this one a read. The audio book is also well done and widely available. 3mo
Cortg I have tickets to see Come From a Away in a couple weeks! I can't wait! 3mo

This was a really sweet graphic novel about toxic relationships, love, and what it means to be a good friend. The artwork was absolutely beautiful, the characters were well fleshed out, and the story was heartfelt and inspired. There was also a lot of really good #LGBTQ+ representation. I'd highly recommend it!

This was the best anthology I've read in ages. It spanned so many types of women, and magics, and time periods! There was only one story that I didn't find fantastic (and it was still pretty good), and there were a few that will stay with me for a very long time. There's a lot of fun magical stories here... but there are also a lot of truly POWERFUL pieces. This is an anthology about strong women and the power we have when we stand together.

When it comes to horribly misinformed patriarchal ideas about women's bodies I think the wandering uterus might be my favorite historical example. It ranks right up there with women's bodies being able to shut down a rape pregnancy, and period huts.

JamieArc I love Lucy Knisley and loved this book, but her own birth story may have traumatized me a bit and I‘m hoping I forget it should I ever get pregnant... 4mo
