Garth Nix signing at the Ann Arbor Library! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Veronica Roth signing in Ann Arbor with @hyperhawk tonight!
I hit my #2019 challenge goal! And as of Monday I'll be back on a normal schedule and not working seven days a week! Plus, October has tons of great bookish events and signings that I'm planning on attending! Yay fall! 📚😍🎃🍂
These books. God. One of my favorite fantasy series of all time and I had to lock myself in the work bathroom to finish this last audio book, because I was ugly crying. While not exactly a happy ending, it was a perfect ending to a dark and deeply resonant story. This book hangover is going to last a long time.
I found these two bookish pins at a thrift store last week. The storybook one actually opens up and has Mother Goose illustrations on the inside! 🧡🧡🧡 I especially love the READ pin and plan on wearing it to many bookish events.
Well, it's that time of year again. When my reading time gets eaten up by my working most of the next next eight weeks without a break. 😳
But if any of you #MittenLittens are heading to #MiRF this season you'd better stop by the Crimson Chain Leatherworks booth and say hello. 😁
Fred-Fred would like to recommend 'Vote Dog' by Sam Logan. He says this comic collection about pets is super adorable, even with the unfair depictions of cats as lazy and aloof. 😻
There's a cover for the sequel! And it's BEAUTIFUL! @DragonAuthors are even giving us a tiny dragon! And more magic! And girl power! And I'm REALLY excited!
Litsy doesn't have the book in the system yet, but I requested it be added.
Oh! And you can preorder the ebook now. The physical books will be available to preorder soon!
The always amazing @CrowCAH sent me this adorable sloth bookmark illustrated by one of her friends. I made everyone at work look at it, and then put it immediately in my current read. Thank you so much, Cynthia! ❤
Hanging out at Detroit #MakerFair with #Studio42Books. Oddly enough, we're right next to the 501 Star Wars group... It's working out pretty well though- they draw a good crowd, and it's fun to watch the little kids get so excited about the costumes!
Side note: this is what happens when I talk my husband to "look cute". ???
On September 11, 2001 the American airspace was shut down following the terrorist attacks. While we were all watching the horror unfold there were dozens of planes in the air that had to be redirected. 38 planes ended up in Gander, Newfoundland. The citizens of Gander came together to shelter 7,000 unexpected visitors, including Kevin Tuerff, who was stranded on his way home to Texas.
And yes, one of the Kevins in Come From Away is based on him.
My #BookMail #preorder of Spin the Dawn came in while I was away for the weekend and I was so stoked to open it today. I ordered through Lim's preferred independent bookstore and recieved all kinds of beautiful swag. A sticker, bookmark, art print, character cards, and an enamel pin! Plus, it's signed! And now I get to read about a bad ass seamstress. 💕💕💕
I've had a rough couple weeks due to an intercostal muscle strain. I've been trying to take it easy, but tomorrow I leave for a show in Connecticut and there's no way I can through the weekend without heavy lifting. And knowing I'm going to aggravate it makes my anxiety worse.
That being said, the new Valdemar book came out today. Since this series always makes me happy (even when it's breaking my heart) I'm going to dive in this evening. ❤📚
This morning we went to the Ypsilanti Book Fair. It's a really cute little event that takes place in an old train station. I picked up a couple of books and a necklace (I'll post a picture later). Now we're heading to A2 for more book shopping and food. ❤📚
I love this snarky and well-crafted response to the assholes who used a white supremacist attack as an opportunity to spread their own brand of hatred. Props to BookBar for being awesome (and for the book recommendations!). 🌈📚
Are any of you awesome littens planning on going to #GenCon2019 this year? My husband and I are planning which days we're going and I'd love to try to meet up with any littens who are also going to be there. 😁
Excuse the crappy poor light cellphone photo, but check out the pretty lady who visited me while I read on the porch this evening! She brought four darling babies with her too! I think my husband managed to get a few photos with his actual camera, but I was too busy watching them! ❤🦝❤🦝🦝🦝🦝❤
This was a really sweet graphic novel about toxic relationships, love, and what it means to be a good friend. The artwork was absolutely beautiful, the characters were well fleshed out, and the story was heartfelt and inspired. There was also a lot of really good #LGBTQ+ representation. I'd highly recommend it!
This was the best anthology I've read in ages. It spanned so many types of women, and magics, and time periods! There was only one story that I didn't find fantastic (and it was still pretty good), and there were a few that will stay with me for a very long time. There's a lot of fun magical stories here... but there are also a lot of truly POWERFUL pieces. This is an anthology about strong women and the power we have when we stand together.
I met Lucy Knisley and she was everything I hoped she'd be, and I don't even care that this is a horrible picture, because she's so sweet and nerdy and everything! 😍😍😍
When it comes to horribly misinformed patriarchal ideas about women's bodies I think the wandering uterus might be my favorite historical example. It ranks right up there with women's bodies being able to shut down a rape pregnancy, and period huts.
Well, we survived the most boring convention in the world and should be gone late tonight. The convention was so slow that I read half of this anthology while standing behind the counter of my booth. And so far all of the stories have been pretty good!
This morning I did a little #AudioGardening. This planter is right next to our front porch and had a hideous and overgrown bush in it. A few weeks ago I dug the bush out and now I've planted things that should suit the space better. Plus, it shows off the solar dragon statue my folks got us for our first anniversary (which is tomorrow)!
Here's a secret...
When I was young I dreamed of being a dancer. Unfortunately, my utter lack of coordination got me removed from my kindergarten ballet class and my dream was shattered. 😂
I still love dance, I just live vicariously though books and movies. 😁 I'm about halfway through this book and so far I'm really enjoying it. The characters are rich and the relationships complex. 💃
